CSS changes not appearing

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a few different sites right now, all of which I've applied custom CSS to. The changes will successfully appear right after entering the code. Then, I save and exit, and a few minutes later, all or some of the changes I made are gone.

The codes themselves are still there in the Custom CSS editor, and I know it's all entered correctly, because it worked to begin with. I have also tried doing a hard refresh and opening my site in an Incognito window, and neither worked.

Someone else looked at one of the sites for me and was able to see the CSS successfully applied, while it still wasn't showing up on my computer.  Let me know whether or not the CSS appears for you on this website: https://olive-terrier-kres.squarespace.com/ Password: miafreda

Attached is a screenshot of what the podcast "Preview" box SHOULD look like, vs. what it looks like on my end. The CSS is only showing up for me on the first block, even though I targeted every block in the code. (You can double check for yourself)

This isn't the only issue I'm having on this site. The footer text, summary excerpt, and "ORDER WORKPARTY" text in the footer all have CSS applied that are not showing up for me.

Could it be an issue with my computer or browser? If so, how do you suggest I fix this issue?

Thanks for any help!

Hi @MiaFreda, I'm seeing the Podcast Preview without the background on Chrome on a Mac. I'd suggest running your Custom CSS through http://csslint.net/ to check for errors, just in case.

Hi @tuanphan I'm also having this problem.

I'm trying to make the site header semi white transparent, as well the open page folder on hover. The css I have put in works when previewing the site in SS but then reverts back to the original once I've saved and viewing in private browser.

The code I have used is

#header {
 position: fixed scroll;
 padding: 0;
 height: 95px;
 background-color: #ffffff30 !important;
}
body[data-menu-overlay-theme-switcher="true"]:not(.header--menu-open) .black-bold .header-nav-folder-content {
    background-color: #ffffff30 !important;
}

I've also attached screenshots to show what I mean better. My site url is https://crane-earthworm-yd8a.squarespace.com and password is 'jessie'

Any help much appreciated!!

Apologies I've now resolved this! I changed the colours to rgba codes and seems to work on both now 👍🏼

@tuanphan

@christyprice

I seem to be having the same issue here on my french version of my website. When I hit refresh the changes appear. In this case it is with my quantity which I have changed to "caisse(s)" on the french site and "case(s)" on my English site. Sometimes they appear and others no.

I also have this issue with my categories which I have rearranged into a different order. I have to hit refresh to see the changes.

@codefordummies it looks like your site is in developer mode, so there may be other forces at work, but I'd suggest making sure AJAX loading is turned OFF. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000253288-Ajax-loading
