subnav dropdown background colour css SqSp 7.1

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me with this?

I'd like the red background on the dropdowns. '.subnav' does not seem to select the .subnav div.  I've tried 'div.subnav', '.folder .subnav' and other variations to no avail. (.pagecollection is only used to show the text else it is white on white.)

(And site is not active yet.)

Any ideas?  Thank you in advance.
