Deep linking to an app from a Squarespace hosted website?

We've just moved from a static site to a Squarespace hosted site. Previously we had an "apple-app-site-association" at the root of our site. This "apple-app-site-association"  file allowed our multiple app logins to share authentication that are associated with the root domain and stored in the keychain, so one login is remembered across multiple apps.  Is there a way to put an "apple-app-site-association" at the root of our Squarespace site? The file's MIME-type must be set to application/json without a json extension. Any thoughts?

Bumping this because I have a site, moving from static to squarespace, that need JSON code embedded in various pages... but I cannot get anything to work. 

Anyone at Squarespace able to answer this? Kind of a big problem for anyone dealing with iOS apps with their website hosted here. Is this even a request that Squarespace dev is aware of?
