Portfolio block

Hello everyone,

I am building a new site for our studio and I am stuck on the portfolio block.  Since we have a range of different projects I want to separate the portfolio in some categories via buttons. 

what would be the best way to separate the pages? Can I use some kind of tag? ( ie. Interior, graphics )  

The only way I have figure out up to now is to make on giant portfolio page and then several other portfolio pages (not linked) so when you choose a category you "jump" to a non linked page. 

Is there a more efficient way to categorise the projects? I think the portfolio block definitely needs a way to categorise items.
