Problem adding categories to blog with Stanton Template

Hi, 

I am trying to add catagories to the blog while using the new Stanton template. When going into the "blog" settings and "advanced" I get the message "To manage categories, add them to items in this collection first." Unfortunately there is no where where i can add them. 

Hope that anyone can help me out.
