Custom Coding Brine Family Banner Overlay Text

I need to custom code the overlay color of the banner text, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do that. I've tried changing code in design-custom CSS, banner settings, index settings. The way Sonora is setup, I have to have my "pages" under index to show the different sections. I'm not in love with the way Sonora has all the different "sections" of a page categorizes as their own pages.
