Linked Buttons on Homepage Gallery (7.1)

Hi everyone - 

LTL, FTP - please be nice. 😄

I've got a new client who just sent me a screen capture from another company's website saying "I want this" for his homepage (I've attached that screen capture). I figured there must be a way to do this in 7.1, but I'm being stymied by the fact that there doesn't seem be a way to get buttons to show up on a Gallery Page. Am I missing something in the newness of 7.1, or is there just not a way to offer buttons like this anymore?
