SS version 7.1 with Calendly

Recommended Posts

Good morning !

Well Calendly with SQUARESPACE version 7.1, AHHHH!

Looked so promising I mean it actually worked seamlessly!!!

BUT then after the SS chap in Dublin was able to book an appointment it all went South. Meaning that  The Book a Visit button is there but now the hyperlink/ page doesn't reveal anything?.

I was told this forum gets popular support. I hope it is true !

I need help now. Please anyone there who knows where do I go from here?

Thanks very much,

MARveloz

@MARveloz it’s difficult to help you without a working link to the page on your site.

beinginkindness.com or https://pigeon-tulip-yx5c.squarespace.com (without the config) is what we need. By seeing the page for myself (not a screenshot), I can determine what's wrong.

The issue you are facing is due to something called Ajax. It's a great feature that loads your website faster, but the the code you are embedding has not been written to work with it. I wrote an article that explains the issue and the options to fix it here: https://sf.digital/squarespace-solutions/why-doesnt-my-code-work-until-i-refresh-the-page

"If your code is using $(document).ready or Y.on('domready', or window.onload then you’ll need to replace this with something that fires when either of two events happens:"

Where and how do I find, ...code is using $(document).ready or Y.on('domready', or window.onload ?

And then I would hope to use can "Mercury", RIGHT?

Or perhaps change from Calendly to Acuity asuming AJAX works well in this regard. Too much time to figure all this out. Unfortuantely I haven't budget to hire experts. Would you happen to know if Acuity is seemless with SS?

Thanks vm

The Acuity Block is seamless.

Acuity is also much more expensive.

Can you tell me please, how long does it take to fix the work around so that with Mercury the Ajax feature doesn't get disabled?

I assume that "If your code is using $(document).ready or Y.on('domready', or window.onload  is a question for Calendly.

AND I am waiting for their reply.

Thanks

I don't know what code you are using for Calendly or where you are installing it so it's difficult to say if it can be fixed. The simple workaround is to disable Ajax in Site Styles until it is fixed.

Thanks vm Paul,

What if I change to another not one of the NEWER templates?

That would seem to be the easiest. Right?

SS has so many templates! Can you please advise me on how to go about to find another template. (If you're using one of the newer Squarespace templates you’ll find that it uses a great technique called Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript And XML).

There is no benefit in switching templates. Turning off Ajax is easier and it will have the same effect.
