trouble redirecting url

I'm working on a friend's site.  He has a rather old site hosted on a different host with the URL registered with a separate company.  I went through the steps on this article https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812378 and it seems that the changes have propagated.  Also when I check the info at Status > Domains it shows that the domain is connected and the table information is correct.

The problem I am having is I try to go to the new site and it will go to the old site.  I noticed that www was checked.  So i tried with www and it did go to the new squarespace site.  the non www would go to the old site.  I unchecked www and now both www and non www both somehow go to the old site.  I hope this make sense and someone can point me in the right direction.  the site is: douglastaylorstudio.com
