Site won't size images equally.

Question

I've got 5 images that I want equally sized on one line. I can't just put them in a grid since they're CSS buttons for a hover over effect. When I add 3 to a line, or 4 to a line, they work fine--they show up equally sized. But when I add 5 on one line,  three are small and two are larger.

When I add a small spacer on each size, they suddenly become equal in size, but that makes them way too small to be legible.

Included a photo of with and without spacers.

As Squarespace uses a 12-column grid, you cannot evenly space five separate blocks. You can do this with a Gallery Grid or a Summary Block but you’ll need to amend you code to work with one of these.
