Adding link in navigation folder

I created a folder in my main navigation so that I have a drop down and I created a link using the following code:

<a href="page-slug">page-title</a>

This works on desktop, when I hover over the navigation bar I get the drop down and when I click on the folder title it takes me to the main page. On mobile the link does not go through and it displays "a href" as the page title but it is not clickable.

How do I create a folder link in the navigation that works on mobile?

I am using the Native template.
