maxmaurer
Hello Squarespace Community: I know this may not be the type of thing people are discussing here, but I thought I'd give it a go. We would like to display a searchable catalogue of information within our Squarespace website. The website belongs to the Turtle Conservancy, and they would like a way to search and display every species of turtle and tortoise along with a map, conservation status and short informational blurb. Does anyone have any experience with custom web app development to display a predefined set of information... With my little experience in databases, Salesforce and FileMaker this seems like it may be a great application of database technology... there will only be about 370 records total. One really nice example is the way the ebird website offers a search by species and by region on their website here: https://ebird.org/explore Any and all comments / ideas are welcomed and greatly appreciated! Thank you! Link to comment
paul2009
Squarespace isn’t generally the best platform for custom data but you could build something like this by using a new collection for the data, with one post per species. The mapping already exists in posts but you’d need some custom code to make it interactive. Custom Collections in Developer Mode offer even more flexibility but may not be necessary. It depends on the specific requirements. About: Squarespace Circle Leader since 2017.
