A public test mode for checkout?

I am trying to collect cart information, email address, and zip code as people checkout without making a person enter credit card info. This is just a brief experiment before we fully launch. The squarespace test mode could be perfect if it didn't show people that the site is in test mode and has the fake credit card info.

Is there a way to intercept the commerce flow before it gets to the checkout page? Maybe code injection or developer mode? 

The only non-technical way to avoid the credit card section of the checkout flow is to set your products to be free. But this probably isn’t ideal. 
 

I believe that @paul2009 has built similar systems in the past to the one that your are trying to build where customs submit an enquiry form from the cart page instead of proceeding to the checkout page. I would recommend getting in contact with Paul.
