post email box and phone number next to eachother

Hi

I saw a closed post about creating a box for phone number beside email on the contact form, I tried the CSS code but nothing changed (could be I missed a step)

The 3 boxes for potential customers to put in their phone number makes no sense in Australia so would much prefer the phone to be a free fill text field to the right of the email address

How do I do this?
