Redirecting a domain to my shop page

(not sure if this is the right ofrum to post this; if not I apologize)

I have set up my site www.jfschmitz.com on Squarespace for a while. I now want to set up the e-commerce to sell prints. I would like to point another domain to this shop page. Something like "www.fineartphoto-shop.com" that would redirect to "www.jfschmitz.com/shop". Is that possible?

Yes, but you will need a separate Squarespace subscription if you want it to point to another domain. Then on your current website you would just need to set-up a URL redirect.

Ok, so subscriptions are based on domains, not sites? Assuming I have build one site and want to have two domains pointing to it, I would need to pay for two subscriptions?

Sorry, I think I misunderstood your original question; I thought you wanted another website for your e-commerce. Yes, you can have two domains pointed at one website but users will be redirected to your primary domain.

For example I have thompsonwebdesign.co.uk pointed to my website but my primary domain is thompsonweb.design. When you type in thompsonwebdesign.co.uk you are redirected to my primary domain thompsonweb.design.

As for redirecting them to a specific page I would look into domain forwarding with your domain provider instead of linking it to your Squarespace website. I have linked to the below thread which talks about domain forwarding.

I'm interested to understand WHY you would want to obtain an additional domain. If it is the same business, there's little benefit in having another domain name just to remove the /shop link. Most users won't ever type your domain name, they'll simply Google you.
