Sortof
New here, trying to change the links and font on the top banner and unable to. I know how to write code but can't even find where the code is to alter it. The pop up menus just alter positions. Thanks Link to comment
SnazzyView
Which template are you using, also are you able to share a link to your website so we can take a look for you? Link to comment
Sortof
now that I am in this I don't know what the template is called, I see I have a few options in the left hand menus but notsure if I am allowed to see the code and modify it, or perhaps I need a business account? I'm used to building from the ground up so not sure what options are available Link to comment
SnazzyView
Hi there, you won’t be able to view your websites code, that’s not really how Squarespace works. You can really only access your websites code if you use Developer mode which I wouldn’t recommend doing. I have linked to a support document which should help you identify your template. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005308187-What-s-my-site-s-template-and-version- Link to comment
Sortof
Thanks, why do you not recommend using developer mode? Link to comment
SnazzyView
It is unnecessary for 99.99% of people. Unless you want to do something complex then you shouldn't really touch it. In addition you will only receive system wide updates and not template specific updates, you will also be responsible for maintaining your template. If something goes wrong or you need help then Squarespace won't be able to provide support. Changing the some links and font isn't something you need developer mode for. I would take a look at the below support document on making style changes to your website. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205815788-Making-style-changes Even if you find yourself needing to make changes with CSS or Javascript you can do so without entering developer mode. You can use your sites global CSS and code injector areas. https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205815928-Adding-custom-HTML-CSS-and-JavaScript Link to comment
