Members only page?

Recommended Posts

Hi. Hope you can help.

I'm using Hyde template and want to create password protected pages for customers signed in to the website. I've tried creating a private page but I have to insert the password myself rather than allowing people signed in to the website to use their own username and password.

I assume I need a bit of custom code.

Anyone help me please.

I want 'customer account' holders to be able to sign in to password protected pages using their own unique username and password.

Thank you in advance

Jane

There are third party solutions such as Memberspace.

However, you need to know that such solutions are not entirely secure. In fact, some are easy to work around. For that reason sensitive or confidential material should not be stored on such passworded pages. This is particularly true of financial and/or medical information but extends to anything you might consider to be commercially or personally confidential.

I don't think I can use a third party solution at the moment. Many thanks for prompt reply.

Although my lack of coding skills. Any code that is accessible is appreciated. Is there any chance you could post a code that I can apply to create secure page, then I can adjust it as required.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

There is no way of creating a solution that allows users to create and maintain their own usernames and passwords without using a third party solution.

That link is for Squarespace 5. It had user accounts but since Squarespace 6 that feature has been absent.

Squarespace 5 has not been active for over 6 years.

I think you can now create user accounts.

Due to my lack of coding skills, if there is there any chance to post a code that I can apply to enable people with customer accounts to access secure pages, then that would help.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

As Colin has explained, this simply cannot be done.

There isn't a Squarespace feature that will enable people with customer accounts to access secure pages.

You cannot add this feature to Squarespace using custom code.

As a few folks have mentioned, this is not how customer accounts work in the current iteration of Squarespace. Memberspace is a great solution, though it has limitations like Colin mentioned, and there are several other third party tools as well—here’s a roundup of several for different platforms: https://sarahmoon.net/blog/membership-website-options

You could even potential house your locked content in a free thinkific account if you have no more than three types of info you needed to have accessible with logins.

Unfortunately, do the the closed nature of squarespace, there’s no code that can change the inherent nature of the system so third party tools are the solution here.
