Improper font weight displaying

Recommended Posts

Hi there!
I'm using the Josefin Sans for most of my site and I'm having trouble with the font weights. In the "site styles" tab, it is possible to change the font weight to 100, 300, 400, 600, 700 and they all look appreciably different.
However, when I try to set the weight using custom CSS it is over-ridden. So any input from 200-500 just looks like 300 and anything 600+ looks like 700. Setting to 100 does seem to make it super-thin though.
I attached screenshots from the custom css showing how editing the CSS styles for bold changes dramatically when the weight is changed from 500 to 600 (looks like the change between 300 to 700). Also attached a screenshot where I set the body text to 400 using the Site Syles editor to show that there is an appreciable difference between 300, 400, and 700 (in the screenshot, the body is 400 but the link is 700)
I'm really just trying to tone down the bold across the site. 700 is too heavy and looks kind of clunky.

Any updates on this? Experiencing the same issue with "Halyard Display". It has multiple weights from 100 to 900. I'm trying to set the "BOLD" formatting option to something that isn't 900. Is this possible? The problem is, I'm using a lighter-weight option for text, so when I bold it, it looks ridiculously bold ☹️
