Description as caption under images on grid gallery page

I already found a solution to show the description of an image on a gallery page with the following code:

.slide-meta {
 position: absolute;
  display: block !important;
  color: black;
  font-size: 15px;
  line-height: 1.3;
}

The problem now is that other images hide the caption of the image above. How can the space under an images made larger so the fully caption is visable?
