Trigger
Hi all, I'm uploaded high resolution images but I wanted to ask whether squarespace compresses images on the fly dependent on the users connection/device? Thanks, Link to comment
paul2009
Squarespace 7.0 does not compress images. That is, they do not use compression techniques to reduce file sizes. However, Squarespace do create up to seven versions of every image, each with a different resolution. These are not 'compressed' they just have smaller dimensions. Squarespace then serve the most appropriate image size based on the visitor's screen. The one exception is images uploaded via the control panel, such as background images. These always display at their original image width. -Paul Squarespace Expert & Professional Developer About: SQSP User for 17 yrs. Circle Leader since 2017. peterjames
SquareSpace does actually compress images (At least in 7.1 they do). I always wondered how they handled images and finally did some tests. The images uploaded are certainly compressed in 7.1 and the compression is quite good. Link to comment
