How can I remove quantity from one variant?

Recommended Posts

I have two listings where one variant is essentially to add personalisation to the product, the quantity is the same as that of the main product, but then it increases the overall quantity (doubling it)....15 Aprons15 Personalisation Additions +£5

I don’t want the overall quantity as 30...I want it at 15. How can i sort this out?

Sorry, to clarify... This is one of the listings, https://www.thornsandroseway.com/shop-online/saturday-workshop-roundhouse

I want my customers to select whether to add a watercolour pack, or not, to their workshop place. So I created two variations in the product, each with 15 in stock. However this then creates a total of 30 places, but I only have 15 places for the workshop.

The watercolour pack is an additional £15, which is why I need to have it as a variation on the listing. I don't particularly want to have to create another listing for it.

Thank you, I now understand.

Unfortunately variants aren't designed for this purpose. As you have found, they are treated as variations not different products with their own stock levels. The way to deal with this is to create a new SKU for the watercolour pack, and any other item that you want to upsell. You can then add this with a Product Block.

This will have a number of advantages for you.

  1. The stock will be managed correctly. By having the watercolour pack as a completely separate item, your commerce reports will show you how many you are selling.
  2. The price will be shown correctly for the course: £30 not 'From £30'
  3. You can show these items directly below the course product, complete with an image to encourage uptake of the offer.

For example:
