Categorised Search Facility

Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to create a search function on a site I'm currently putting together where items (in this case properties for rent) can be indexed by the various things they offer in a similar way to how this company does it:

By selecting options from the list, it then shows only items that for instance have a hot tub or can sleep a certain number of people.

Squarespace couldn't help and have told me it's a specialist function. Is this something anyone has any knowledge of? I thought it would be a case of adding categories and/or tags then adding some sort of search that uses those to present the required options but that doesn't appear to be the case.
