UPC Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Hello Since SquareSpace still does not allow us to set a quantity limit a customer can purchase (it's ridiculous), is there a way to do the following? I am selling tickets. I need to limit the number of tickets one person can purchase to 10 (for example). To get around this, I am having product variants from 1 - 10 tickets, with the price of each variant increasing to reflect the cost. ie: Product 1 - £5 - 1 Ticket Product 1 - £10 - 2 Tickets Product 1 - £15 - 3 Tickets I have a maximum of 500 tickets to sell. Is it possible to put a stock level limit to cover all variants of a product? I cant rely on setting a stock limit on each variant, as I have no idea how many tickets each person will purchase, so the individual variant stock limits wont really work. Once 500 tickets have sold I need them to be unavailable to purchase. Hope someone can help! Thanks!
paul2009 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Squarespace is completely unsuitable for minimum or maximum quantity limits. There are many other e-commerce platforms that are better suited for this, many of which can be integrated with Squarespace if required. The best match will depend on what type of tickets you are selling and whether they are digital or physical. Me: I'm Paul, a SQSP user for >18 yrs & Circle Leader since 2017. UPC Posted August 21, 2019 Author Posted August 21, 2019 I've looked at various other ecommerce solutions out there and each have pro's / con's that make them not suitable for me. Shopify for example would be great, but I dont want them taking a cut of every transaction, ontop of payment gateway charges. Squarespace is perfect for me, bar this limitation. I was hoping there may be a way to resolve this by setting a stock limit on a product, including all variants, rather than individual variants. Or just a simple quantity limit would solve the problem. Id even be willing to pay a bit extra for a plugin if it meant I could use Squarespace.

paul2009 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 This is one of those limitations in Squarespace that cannot be coded around - at least not if you want to use the built-in commerce features. You can always integrate another ecommerce engine into Squarespace. It depends how you want to sell the tickets. Me: I'm Paul, a SQSP user for >18 yrs & Circle Leader since 2017. paul2009 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 If you are looking for additional options, I've written about integrating SendOwl or Shopify (US$9 per month) for low cost flexibility selling any products, or you can use TicketTailor, eventbrite, or many other similar services.
