CSS scales content but container/block tried a number of .sqs handels for the gallery but no joy?

HiWhen I scale a gallery the container isn't effected but the content is so obviously Im missing something here:

 @media screen and (max-width:640px) {
.sqs-gallery-design-strip  {
     height: 400px;
 }
 }
