Samantha_Holder Posted July 12, 2019 Posted July 12, 2019 Hello As the title suggests, the feature to add links to your text has changed overnight, and it now isn't allowing my to select 'Open in a new Window' if I am linking to a page within my site. I can select to open a new window for any external links, but not for content. Am I missing something? I hope this is just a glitch because I don't want any content links to overwrite the page the visitor is on! ThanksSam
SChaffin Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 Also waiting on an answer about this! :( Can't believe such a commonly used and important feature would be overlooked in the update. Web designer + writer from Los Angeles, CA
SChaffin Posted July 15, 2019 Posted July 15, 2019 @Samantha_Holder I was just on chat with the support team, and they've explained that you can in fact select "Open in a New Window" when you link new files or content. As far as I know, there is not yet an article in Squarespace Help about this (or they have not yet updated it to coincide with their new File Editor), so I'll post it here. You first have to toggle the "Open in New Window" switch in the Web Address section, and THEN add or select your file. That order is important. Here is the screen recording the support staff sent me as an example: https://share.squarespace.com/7ac233e99f13 Web designer + writer from Los Angeles, CA
StMarksEditor Posted August 18, 2019 Posted August 18, 2019 @SChaffin THANK YOU ... I've been banging my head against the desktop! Not a very 'clean' way to do it--hopefully they'll add that to the linking files selection as well!
