Export email opened list

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hello!

I would like to export a list of those who've opened my emails to contact them personally.

They are b2b emails and so GDPR compliant, but there's quite a few of them so I don't want to do it manually.

Thanks!

Henrietta

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your message:

I am using Squarespace email campaigns and would like to export the list of contacts who opened the email, so that I can contact them again. I don't want to contact the whole list.

Am I able to export a list of ONLY the ones who opened an email?

Henrietta

I talked with Square Space about this every issue and lack of functionality. They are unresponsive. My group is ending our email campaign spending and taking our business elsewhere.

Yup, same Dave415 - the lack of control of our email lists and ability to interact with clients well is the top reason I'm moving off this platform and sadly not recommending it to anyone. It's so archaic and limited in this respect - and not priced accordingly if it's going to be so. Bummer.

Any update, I would love this feature too. I wanted to make note of which subscribers Opened by last newsletter to how many were Delivered. It would be nice to just be able to export a list.

Just asked support about this -- was told they don't offer it this feature and that I should copy the list of opens and compare it to the main list. But the opened list is a dynamically loading window while you scroll (and automatically closes when you get to the end), making it (so far) impossible to copy a list of around 2,000 subscribers.

Very annoying -- why do they not want us to target our most engaged subscribers? Seems like a no-brainer of a feature for a marketing product.

Agreed. Very poor. It's even impossible to scrape the names from the list because it automatically closes!

And here we are 5 years later.... Squarespace has missed the boat you guys, we can do this with AI now.

To EVERYONE who posted here - I have a workaround with ChatGPT.

  • Type this prompt into ChatGPT>> Create an excel spreadsheet with 2 columns using the following data: (screenshot attached using a different set of data with 6 columns)
  • Then, paste in the data from the open rate screen (see screenshot ... all my client data is blocked out)
  • Run
  • ChatGPT will give you a formatted spreadsheet to download.
  • Alternatively you can paste a bunch of screenshots with the data! YES! ChatGPT will make you a spreadsheet from your screenshots. Cool, huh!?

I've been doing this with all my squarespace data (page views / ranks etc) because there's no way you can download anything into a nice spreadsheet. Follow this ChatGPT method for EVERYTHING! Just change the number of columns so ChatGPT can match the data.

  • Note, when you paste these into ChatGPT it will look like one long list of messed up data, but the final result will be PERFECT. Hit me up if you get stuck. My email address is in that screenshot 😉 I am not an AI expert (I'm an Amazon Copywriter)
  • Also note, if you're using the free version it lets you do 3 spreadsheets, then you have to wait a week.
  • And, Squarespace makes it hard to copy lots of data (it only really lets you copy what rows you can see. Persevere my friends, you can copy all of it at once, just pay attention to whether you've picked them all up or if you got caught out only picking up what was visible on screen. Hope that makes sense?

🙂 Happy downloading my fellow Squarespacers!

I can't find a way to get the list of opens to expand so it's more than 13 names long before you have to scroll. With 1300 opens, that's 100 screenshots taken one at a time. BUT the free version of ChatGPT doesn't 'see' so even if you do make 100 screenshots, it won't turn them into data for a spreadsheet unless you pay. Pay for Squarespace to send emails, then pay for ChatGPT, then spend hours screenshooting...

Stupidly, I paid annually for Squarespace email, not monthly. And it's not refundable.  The funniest part of all this are the videos Squarespace makes, touting their amazing in-depth analytics.  What a joke!!
