demianvlk
I have some desktop application development experience, but almost no web work. I am a member of a community farm and they have been looking for a software solution – and I’ve been looking for a side project to learn web programs. How possible would it be for me to create a database driven web application using Squarespace and some php or asp.net? For the most part it would be inventory management, user management, notifications, scheduling, row planning, harvest projections etc. mainly just queries, data presentation. Thanks. Link to comment
foleyatwork
The modeling of the database is defined by Squarespace. That means you can't define your own data dictionary, for now at least. And our template language doesn't offer the logic a PHP developer would be used to. Squarespace is really great at giving end-users a seamless experience and giving developers solid building blocks to create templates. It is not an application framework. But if you are interested in using Squarespace as the host and template language, you can use Parse.com and create a JavaScript application. Guest
Knack is another commercial option for adding database driven apps right to your Squarespace site. You can build the database in Knack and then publish it to your site with a small embed code. Easy to customize with CSS. FYI, I'm a founder of Knack, we recommend Squarespace often for our users who need a great website to host their database app. Link to comment
