Stitchery
Hello, I'm very new to CSS and HTML coding. In fact I'm very new to building a website. Can anyone tell me how I might be able to add breadcrumbs to my sight? Or have any other suggestions for navigation. I'm trying to create and online store the DIY way (because I'm in the UK and don't benefit from SQSP e-commerce). thestitcherymachine.co Thanks in advance people! cirmiz
Hi Well the good news is that somehow it can be done (see here) The bad news is that it may require a bit of experience to figure out how to do it. I didn't exploredtoo much the possibilities so i'm afraid i cannot give you more details on this subject. Good luck Mostly graphic design but also a bit of coding (html, css, js ) Link to comment
Stitchery
Yes, this looks quite complicated. Anyone else got any simpler suggestions? Link to comment
Stitchery
Also looks like it can only be done this way with Developer template? I'm not signed up to that Link to comment
noob123
Look at the answer in this post. http://answers.squarespace.com/questions/18520/can-i-access-the-current-product-data-in-a-navigation-block Link to comment
ratnaish007
It is possible using a custom breadcrumbs.block in the blocks folder when accessing the site using FTP. Content of breadcrumbs.block file: {.section collection}{navigationTitle} / {.end} Then place the below code in site.region where you want the breadcrumbs to appear: Home / {collection.title}{.section item} > {title}{.end} Ratnaishratnaish007@gmail.com fanaticredhead and almaresk 2 Link to comment
fanaticredhead
@ratnaish007 I was thinking about getting developer mode to do this (inject code into the Page Header under Page > Settings > Advanced). However, what you propose sounds like a need a more traditional FTP to make this happen (where the folder structure and whole mark up document is available to me). Is that possible with developer mode? Link to comment
paul2009
On Squarespace 7.1 the built-in breadcrumbs are very limited, but it is possible with our Breadcrumbs extension: About: SQSP User for 17 yrs.
