Guest Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I would like to divide my Squarespace 6 blog page into two columns, so that the blogging content is on the left, and there is a column on the right containing things like Twitter feeds and book recommendations. I can't find the "add block" option on the blog page though. How do I fix this? Thank you for your help.
foleyatwork Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Can you add a link to your site/let people know which template you're using? Developer Evangelist at Squarespace.
evanholt Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 After you have logged in, click on the "Blog Settings" button near the top. There will be an option called "Page Layout" which lets you change between full width, or add a sidebar. The sidebars are currently governed by the theme itself, and almost all the themes only offer the option of a single sidebar with your choice of it either being on the left or right. Once you've added a sidebar, click on the "View Blog" button. From here you can edit the width of it via "Change Style" (the paintbrush) or add a block via the "Edit Content" (the pencil) mode.
troyphotobrooklyn Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I am using Montauk and I don't see that option under Blog settings? Am I missing something?
evanholt Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 In that case, I don't believe the theme "Montauk" was made with the option to add sidebars at all. It would be a limitation of the theme, hopefully they add the ability at some point.
Scoobie Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Not all templates have sidebars unfortunately. Squarespace could provide this, vote here: http://answers.squarespace.com/questions/1638/can-each-template-have-two-sidebars
e2astudio Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Not all templates provide a sidebar option ... on which template did you build your site?
e2astudio Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 @troyphotobrooklyn Montauk has a sidebar option in the blog. When viewing your blog, open the style editor and look for the 'Blog Layout' option.

TylerF1570048207 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 The option to add sidebars will vary by Template. Some Templates offer a sidebar only on Blog Pages, some offer a sidebar on all Pages, and some Templates offer two Sidebars (Take a look at the Template Five for this feature) There is a guide in Squarespace's Knowledge Base that covers Sidebars which you can find here
Sqpsthemes Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 In the case that your template doesn't offer a sidebar you can try this: https://www.sqspthemes.com/plugins/sidebar-plugin
StoriesAroundTheSun Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 I went around in circles on trying to add the sidebar in the Bedford template, until I finally found a line in a video in a SquareSpace tutorial about sidebars: go to the Design section of the site, go to Site Styles, scroll down and uncheck "Hide Blog Sidebar," and save - arghhh! So annoyed but so happy to find this! Then in the Pages area on the blog main page, hover over the right side of the blog and the edit option will come up! YAY!
