  1. Hello all, For the past three years, I've run a .com baseball site using WordPress and it has been a good experience. Unfortunately, the switch to "Gutenberg" has unfavorably altered a lot of the content already on the site, and has tilted the experience from joyful to unpleasant-bordering-on-infuriating. I'm kicking the tires on a few other providers, and Squarespace is one that I've heard of many, many times from podcast ads. So...there are a few burning topics for me to decide whether or not to choose Squarespace, and if anyone would be willing to help with one or more topics, I would greatly appreciate it. 1. Templates. My website is kind of an odd duck on today's web. I currently have over 500 individual pages, and would expect to have many more as time goes on. It's almost a Web 1.0 situation with hyperlinks galore, but I use pages to classify the content. It's almost like a database, but my brother (who's a coder) says it's not a database in the formal sense of the word. It looks like a blog, but I never use that term because I do not post blog posts. I make pages and classify them. It's kind of hard to explain, but it works for me and people like the site. The pages are often heavy on text with some images, but it's more like an encyclopedia experience. I rarely embed videos, do not allow comments, do not link to social media, etc. At this stage in my site's construction, I don't sell ads or monetize in any way, though that could be an option down the road. When I started on Wordpress, I literally picked the most basic no-frills template I could find and it's worked well for me. Would it work on Squarespace? 2. Cost. I know there are different packages and promotions, but I'm having a hard time getting a read on what Squarespace would cost me. I have a sweet multi-year deal with Wordpress that expires in December. It's been less than $5 per month. I doubt Squarespace will come close to that, but I'm wondering if it would even be in the ballpark. 3. Transfer. How easy is it to transfer domain and/or site content from WordPress? Anyone with similar experience? Anything I'm missing after skimming the tutorials and feeling completely overwhelmed? In short: is Squarespace a good match for me?
  2. I recently hired front end engineers to code up a website based off of our desired design. They coded up the website, but they used wordpress to do so. The wordpress-based website is hosted on a docker container. I wanted to transfer all of the contents and all of the designs of the wordpress-based website that the contracted engineers developed into squarespace, which is the current registrar for the domain that I own. Is there any way to do so? I've been searching online for ways of doing what I mentioned above, but none of them proved to be helpful. All of them ask for import/exports of the wordpress website, which solely copies the content of the wordpress website into squarespace, instead of the entire website design. Please help!
  3. Hey Team, I am Poonam, owner of XplorMedia/com and I want to transfer my website e4day(dot)com on "Squarespace". So, my question is, how much does it cost and is there any extra charges to transfer my website at our place? Currently, my website, e4day is one WordPress where I am using bigrock hosting.
  4. Site URL: https://www.farnhamtoolhire.com/ Dear Community I am having trouble re-directing my domain name for yell.com they offer no dashboard for any domain name management and everything has to be done via email. They are charging £96 a month hosting for a standard 12 page website. My last response from them was a request for " Can Anyone help me?
  5. I have an SS at www.mysite.co.uk and want to maintain that, but also host an entirely separate (React + Firebase) site at, say, mysubdomain.mysite.co.uk, but this doesn't seem possible with the subdomain controls SS offers. Therefore I'm wondering if I can do one of the two following things (or possibly other suggestions if you have them): log into Tucows myself to administrate my own DNS etc. stuff; and/or transfer away from SS (as per the link listed below) and thereafter administrate my own DNS etc. stuff myself? https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/205812338-Transferring-a-domain-away-from-Squarespace Thank you for taking the time to read jbm
  6. Site URL: https://cello-herring-fdt8.squarespace.com/ Password, if it asks: STOP Working on a blog for a client in two languages. We want to separate the blog so that the English is on it's own blog and the Chinese is on a separate one but both are on the same website. Right now, both the English and Chinese are on one blog together. Is there anyway to transfer the posts to a new blog on the same site without just copying and pasting? There are a lot of tags and coding, etc. attached to each post, so we're trying to do this as efficiently as possible.
  7. Trying to figure out best order/steps to make switch to Squarespace. We have a site that is mostly ready to go. Current situation domain registered with Network Solution domain forwarded/site hosted by Powweb Gsuite purchased through Powweb; some non-Gsuite email addresses as well What I think we should do (in this order) Transfer Gsuite from Powweb to Google Create any non-Gsuite emails addresses in Gsuite When Squarespace site is ready, change DNS to Squarespace DNS (could also complete transfer I suppose) Does that sound right? Just trying to avoid any interruptions or issues that I might not be thinking of since I don't do this sort of thing much Is there a better way to go about it? I really appreciate any input!
  8. Hello, My friend used a trial/free period to build a basic Squarespace website for me. Now, I want to 'take back' the account so that I can set it up financially, without having to pass my details to her. Then, I want to give her access to update and amend etc. How do we do this? Any help welcome. Thanks very much.
  9. Site URL: http://laureninowicki.com TL;DR: Is there anyway to transfer a G Suite account purchased through WordPress to Squarespace? (Domain has been transferred from WP to SS) Years ago I built my website using WordPress . com since it was cheap and simple. A few months ago, I purchased my GSuite email account through WordPress using my WordPress domain. Recently, I decided that I wanted to put more effort into my website and made the switch to Squarespace (LOVE IT) and I transferred my domain from WordPress to Squarespace easily. I cancelled my WordPress plan so it is now "domain . wordpress . com" but want to shut down my WordPress account all together. Since I purchased my G Suite through them, I can't do that and Im essentially paying an extra $6 a month for the email through them and by having the Squarespace plan that allows for a G Suite account. I just want to have my website and email all in one place and on one bill. I'm hoping there is a way to keep my G Suite as it is so I don't lose any info on it or have to set it up all over again but move it to Squarespace where my domain now is. Is there any way to do that?
  10. I am setting up an ecommerce site and I am wanting to add in bank payment details on the checkout page as an option. This would just be bank information for the customer to pay into a business account. It is my understanding that I can't amend the checkout page so what is another method to integrate this? I am option to any ideas (eg. create new page with form, add text on each sale item).
  11. Hi, I purchased a domain from GoDaddy and (as I don't know much about this stuff) followed Squarespace's instructions to transfer the domain from GoDaddy to them. During the transfer I decided not to due to various reasons, but now it seems to be stuck in a middle stage between the two companies. The help section provided by squarespace isnt very helpful, as it states I should be able to cancel the transfer by highlighting it in my settings, but that option doesn't appear for me. Squarespace doesn't seem to be answering my emails either, and with my website finished I'd really like to get the two linked up and live ASAP. Any ideas?! Thanks so much
  12. I have been using Squarespace for a while now and I have come accustom to its quirks and format. I have had a mostly fine experience with it. I have just recently started a new website for a client and decided to start in 7.1 thinking it would be an upgrade and have better longevity in support, etc. However, I have lost certain functionality and would really prefer to not have to use custom code to get back. Is there a way to move my site back into a 7.0 template? I even know which templates I could use. OR is there a roadmap for them to add features/functionality from 7.0 into 7.1? Any insight is greatly appreciated!
  13. How do I transfer a trial between two users/accounts?
  14. I'm a student designing a site for a non-profit. Is there a way to transfer ownership once I'm done designing or would it be better to sign-up for Squarespace with their own email and request access as a designer?
  15. I had been eagerly anticipating my domain transfer from previous host and WordPress setup. It had finally made some progress and now I have security issues b/c of an invalid certificate. Any ideas what I missed? Screenshots attached are the messages from different browsers. The site is https://geodata.works
  16. Hi There, I'm currently looking at moving from one online store template to one of the recent additions. My question is specific, will my store content copy over, products etc and will I have to setup things like stripe connections again. Thanks for your advice and guidance.
  17. Hello! I have a client interested in updating their site to 7.1. Haven't had much time to look into everything, but I was hoping someone could offer insight into the possibilities of transferring a couple galleries. I'd do it by hand, but each one has 250 images, so it seems pretty daunting. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!🤙
