  1. Is there any custom code to be able to use Hcaptcha or another captcha instead of Google Recaptcha. There are privacy concerns with Google, and a captcha is needed to avoid a second confirmation for email signups. (Relatedly, please allow privacy preserving options in the future)
  2. We've just been contacted by few EU client that received letters from shady law firms pushing for a payment of around $200 or more to settle the issue. At the beginning of 2022, Germany ruled the use of Google Fonts as a violation of the GDPR. So far, I'm only aware of such letters in Germany and Austria yet but I believe this could happen in any EU country. I'm happy to open a discussion on this with best pratices. (inviting @paul2009 @KwameAndCo @colin.irwin @christyprice ....)I'm still not sure if replacing all fonts will 100% cut the bridge to a Google Server, but that what this post is here for, while I'm hoping to get a statement from Squarespace. Here's a related article by @Centerliner that becomes more and more relevant Here is a great, detailed German article: https://calysto-marketing.at/dsgvo/abmahnungen-wegen-nutzung-von-google-fonts-durch-rechtsanwalt-mag-hohenecker-im-namen-von-frau-eva-zajaczkowska-21-8-2022/?moderation-hash=2584c485cf8b3c3908d420c174dfa888&unapproved=1&utm_source=pocket_mylist While right adjustment to your privacy settings can cover this as well, here is a quick tutorial ______________ QUICK TUTORIAL how to install a custom font on your website (instead of loading it from a third party server - this is also the same procedure if a client asks you to use their custom font on the website) set all fonts to a system font (like Arial) - thanks to @Selistina for the comment πŸ™‚ Get your font files ready (I mostly use .otf or .ttf as they work very well) NOTE: if you want have "light" and "bold" or "strong" you need to have an individual font file for that go to DESIGN > Custom CS At the bottom you'll find "MANAGE CUSTOM FILES" Just upload the font files When you click one of your uploaded fonts it will paste the file path into your css (make sure this doesn't mess with your existing CSS Example: https://static1.squarespace.com/static/624ac8c48e016a33e668e7db/t/6257cda47c57db4f2bb5146f/1649921445359/MessinaSans-Bold.ttf Save those file links for later Copy paste this CSS and give your uploaded fonts a NAME @font-face { font-family: 'SEMIBOLD'; src: url('https://static1.squarespace.com/static/624ac8c48e016a33e668e7db/t/6257ceb19301a214871b3282/1649921713264/MessinaSans-SemiBold.ttf'); } @font-face { font-family: 'REGULAR'; src: url('https://static1.squarespace.com/static/624ac8c48e016a33e668e7db/t/6257ce68e86b157650ac08a1/1649921641106/MessinaSans-Regular.ttf'); } @font-face { font-family: 'LIGHT'; src: url('https://static1.squarespace.com/static/624ac8c48e016a33e668e7db/t/6257cdbe9301a214871b2334/1649921471023/MessinaSans-Light.ttf'); } Now you can individually apply those fonts to your website like this h1, h2, h3 {font-family: 'SEMIBOLD'} h4 {font-family: 'LIGHT'} h4 strong {font-family: 'SEMIBOLD'} p {font-family: 'LIGHT'} .Header-nav {font-family: 'SEMIBOLD'} .summary-title {font-family: 'SEMIBOLD'} .summary-read-more-link {font-family: 'SEMIBOLD'} Note: It's also possible to apply font weight settings (h4 is the light one and h4 strong is bold ) Please be aware that there are more font cases with your website ( e.g. .blog-title ... ) to this is not covering all of them ______________
  3. Hi, I am just putting together a pop up to promote a black friday code for a client. They simply want the code to appear once they have gathered the email from the client. I have put this together but when I add the post submit text it appears just awkwardly underneath the GDPR privacy disclaimer. (shown below) Is there a way for the post submit to simply have the desired text in the centre of the box? Like i've mocked up below. Help would be appreciated asap as the offer goes live tomorrow! Thanks in advance!
  4. Hello πŸ™‚ I host my website in Europe and Google fonts are now a problem. I am now hosting all fonts locally, but whenever I check my site, one google font still seems to be used. Problem: I can't find it and I don't know where I use it (and therefore can't change it) Is there a way to find it? My site: lovemoves.de and the font family that is hiding somewhere: Josefin Sans Thank you a lot for your help, Sharon
  5. Hello! I have read all of the articles about HIPAA compliance. My question is - if we create a Squarespace website on the normal Business plan, do not collect any patient information via Squarespace forms, or use their emails, only add a link to a 3rd party, HIPAA complaint appointment scheduler form, are we HIPAA compliant? We work with a separate company for emails, scheduling, etc. that is HIPAA compliant. If patient information is not being collected by Squarespace, but a link to where patient information is collected is on the site, does it need to be HIPAA complaint? I have tried to ask this question but keep getting "yeah I think that should be okay" answers. Is there anyone out there who can tell me definitively? Thank you! Danielle
  6. Site URL: https://ttohc.com Hi There, I just updated my domain's DNS records to point to my new Squarespace site. Everything is green in the DNS Settings in Squarespace. But when I navigate to the site, I'm getting a message saying "Your connection is not private". Site URL: ttohc.com Screenshots below. Thanks!
  7. Hi, in order to be fully compliant with GDPR, I need to have the font in my own server instead of retrieving it from Google Fonts or Adobe. Otherwise Google and Adobe can store information from my visitors, which is not GDPR-compliant. However, I am not finding a way to accomplish this. I have already uploaded the font file I want to use via Design > Custom CSS. Let’s call this font "customized font". This customized font is overriding the default font given in the Squarespace settings. So adding a customized font to my own server is OK. The problem is that when the page is loaded, even if the customized font is the one used for all the texts, the default font is also downloaded. That means Google and Adobe can store information from my visitors anyway, which is not GDPR-compliant. I have already contacted the customer support via Chat, but unfortunately they were not very helpful and only referred to the this link (that gives me an error when I try to open it) or suggested to ask in the forum. Is there any way to block the default fonts, so only the customized font is downloaded? Or a way to choose a default font that is not from a third-party? Does anybody know a GDPR-compliant work-around for this?
  8. I've looked all over for an answer to this but I can't seem to find a way to remove people from a subscriber list. Help! I have 9 people under /config/profiles/all that I manually imported as a test but I can't find out how to remove them.

  10. Has anyone found a free or low-cost GDPR-compliance solution that works with a small Squarespace site, that is actually compliant with GDPR legal requirements? After spending the afternoon reading, it doesn't appear that the [cookie banner] GDPR solution that Squarespace makes available to its own customers is compliant. Interestingly, it is also not the one they use for their own corporate website(s). A cookie banner alone does not meet GDPR requirements. There must be valid, documented, reversible and renewable consent. Consent must be obtained prior to processing, and be transparent and customizable by the site visitor (i.e. necessary cookies, other cookies listed by type). Someone who gave consent must be able to revoke consent. "Documentation" means a secure consent repository/database so that we, as site operators, can provide proof that consent was obtained. The database needs to store a record of each user's consent, including how they consented, exactly what they consented to, and the date/time they gave their consent. Another issue is that a GDPR-compliant site's privacy policy needs to be transparent. Something as basic as the data collected on a Squarespace form - where and how is it stored and processed? If someone who submitted a form wants their data deleted - how does one do that? Since I am not an expert in GDPR, there may be other requirements that I missed. My "solution" for the past 3 years has been to turn off all cookies and explicitly state that the site is not intended for site visitors from the EU. This goes against the purpose of the website, and is not a satisfactory solution by any measure.
  11. Hi All, Is there a way to control the font size of the terms and conditions, privacy policy and copyright line? And make it smaller than the rest of the copy in the footer? Future big ol' thank you for anyone who can solve this!
  12. Site URL: https://www.inaboldmove.com/ Hello, All the blog posts on our page has the "We value your privacy" pop-up and it has so many buttons that it is confusing people who visit our website. Does anyone know how to turn this off or simplify it? Thank you!
  13. Hi, I want to create a private landing page at my webpage. Only customers will have the password to access. I would like to see some examples of other brands and how they do it. Does anyone know any examples? Thanks:)
  14. Site URL: http://catalinamunoz.me After I added a Convertkit form on my website with HTML, my website stopped working. I deleted the form but I still can't access my website. It's apparently a security issue. Any idea how to fix it?
  15. Site URL: https://abbygardner.work/abby-gardner Hello! Recently I noticed that my website for my online portfolio is saying that my "connection is not secure" and that I have an invalid certificate date when accessing my website (however my SSL certificate is valid and set to secure in my settings as well). Also, none of my images are showing up anymore, and it just shows the jpg icon in the upper left corners of all of my pages. I've had this website up since 2019, and only now have started having these problems show up (go figure, right as I'm job searching too). Is there anyway to fix this quickly?? (*Timing is urgent since this has greatly impacted my job search and companies being unable to view my professional portfolio*) Thank you in advance!!
  16. Hello, Does anyone have experience adding a non-Google captcha for block form submission? Recaptcha seems, like everything Google, to be a privacy nightmare and would prefer not to force my clients to engage with them if possible. Thanks!
  17. Site URL: https://www.skunk.co.nz Hey guys, I have just pointed my domain at our new website and now we are getting "Your connection is not private" now displaying on our website whenever someone clicks on it. How on earth do I get rid of this? Need help urgently!! Many thanks!!
  18. Hi, My client expressed concern migrating contacts into Squarespace (or any newsletter provider or CRM for that matter). Honestly, I never considered that using Squarespace to store emails on a list could be a privacy concern. The client currently uses Gmail to send newsletters to their list, and seems pretty adamant that no one can have their contacts. Can anyone offer insight into this situation? I looked up privacy policy stuff for Squarespace and found one official document, but very little explaining how it compares to other services. I don't know much about this stuff so it feels like reading Greek! Thanks, Lily
  19. Hello, Just came across this issue - trying to embed video into a banner - getting the error as per screen grab attached: Template - Ethan. All requirements adhered to - as in: Privacy settings set to Anyone and allow embedding Anywhere, or Hide this video from Vimeo.com and allow embedding Only on sites I choose. Would very much appreciate some tips!
  20. It seems that when I view the pages of my site, all of the pages are built referencing fbml. Are all Squarespace pages built this way, or is this a choice someone in the organization made at some point? The creator of the theme? As far as I know, the people that built this site used only the basic Squarespace tools. How much information is Facebook hoovering?
  21. Hi I have been trying for weeks now to get a direct answer, for a simple question, from support, with frustrating results. Does Squarespace collect any information, personal or otherwise, from me or my website visitors, and share or sell to third parties for any reason but, specifically for targeted advertising? Pretty straightforward question right? But the only thing I get back from support is links to their Terms of Service, Cookie Policy, Data Processing, etc. I’ve read through all of those. If the answer is buried in there somewhere I am unable to suss it out. The legalese hurts my head. Is Squarespace trying to hide the answer? Or are their support people really so unqualified as to not know the answer? Or are legally restricted from giving me a clear answer? Can anyone out there give me a straightforward answer to this straightforward question, please? Thanks, David

  24. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has used www.termsfeed.com to generate their cookie/privacy,terms and conditions policy. Are they worth the cost? Would appreciate your opinion. Thanks.
  25. I've currently drafting/creating a Cookie Banner for GDPR reasons, and was wondering if it's possible to add an 'X' button to close/ignore the pop up should users not wish to give consent? I can't seem to find any other style adjustments for this purpose. You can see from the screen shot that I'm trying to use the Cookies banner to allow the website user to give consent to analytic cookies + data collected via contact forms, where analytic data is turned off by default, but it would be helpful if there was a 'close banner' button if users did not want to give this type of consent and to 'hide' the banner, so to speak. I realise this is somewhat of a work around instead of using a third party app/code to create a more detailed GDPR banner, but nonetheless I was wondering if this was possible, and/or if anyone had any other genius solutions/examples that have worked for them. Any advice would be super helpful and much appreciated :) Thanks in advance J.
