  1. HI! I'm a building a site for a podcast. My goal is to enable listening to audio and reading a text at the same time, therefore I need to make my audio player move with the scrolling of the page. I have seen a couple of codes like this : #id { position: fixed; bottom: 0; right: 0; z-index: 999; } But nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? Thank you!
  2. Site URL: http://www.chrisbrock.uk I have a podcast that is not hosted on Squarespace. Each episode, I create a blog post on my Squarespace site, write a post and embed the episode. But I have to do this for every episode, and it's a lot of extra work that I could do without. Ideally, what I'd like is to have a page with a gallery of all episodes, that automatically updates each time there's a new episode published. Click on the episode artwork and it takes you to the external hosting site. I understand that Squarespace is keen to get people podcasting with its own service, but I'm not ready for that yet. Is it possible to do what I'm thinking of?
  3. Site URL: http://www.theberardo.com Hey friends, curious if there's a company or recommendation you all use to track PODCAST episode analytics with the RSS feed. I use a "page" to create each episodes but I'm looking to pull reports for ALL subscribers, listeners, etc across different podcast apps (Spotify, apple podcasts, etc). Anyone out there have recommendations?
  4. Curious if there are plans to support some of the new "Podcasting 2.0" podcast fields. Development of the Podcasting spec has started to evolve again over the last year. It would be amazing to have some of these available for my clients, particularly: Podping - real-time feed of updated podcasts so apps/indexes know immediately when a podcast is updated. Chapters - designate a JSON file of chapters in an episode Transcripts - link to a transcript files for accessibility and indexing of podcast content Funding - Link to a support/donate link for the podcast Locked Tag - to keep a feed from being copied/moved to another provider without permission Would love to hear if there are any plans for adding these or any features to Podcasting. Love having this option in Squarespace as I suggest the platform to my clients all the time because of how easy it is to start one.
  5. Site URL: https://risedigital.tech Hi there. I have two blog sections on my site. 1. Blog, where I want the images (mostly landscape screen shots) on the blog page to be 3:2 aspect ratio. 2. Podcast, where I want the images (entirely podcast-style album art) on the blog page to be 1:1 square aspect ratio. After changing formatting the respective blog pages 100 times (rough estimate) and my changes not 'sticking' I was able to determine that if I change the format of one blog (even though I do it on its own page, not globally in the styles interface), it oddly changes the format of the other, completely unrelated, blog. Assuming this is (bizarrely) intended behaviour and not a bug, does anyone know how to apply a specific aspect ratio to one blog page's images and not the other? Christian
  6. All, I have three blog collections on my website, hosted by Squarespace. Two are written blog collections, and one is a Podcast collection. For the past two years, I have been able to successfully click "edit" on any post in any of the three collections, and select "duplicate" at the bottom of the dialog box that appears, and use the subsequently duplicated post as a template for a new post. This has saved time in publishing content to my site. Last week, I started receiving an error. Whenever I click "duplicate" on any post in any of the collections, I get this message: "ERROR SAVING" "An error occurred while duplicating this item" My two written blog collections have 93 items, each, and my podcast collection has 96 items. I have attached a screenshot of the error message. I have also started a support ticket with Squarespace support. I hope to resolve this error soon, as it significantly impacts my workflow. Has anyone run across this error?
  7. Site URL: https://www.storytellerslive.org/ Hi! I am needing to have transcripts populate for podcast episodes and have added the below code via a code block and custom HTML on the page for my podcast episodes. The code seems to not be working until you refresh the page multiple times - you can see it live on this page -> https://www.storytellerslive.org/podcasts/2022/1/26/the-result-of-remembering-a-story-of-anxietychancey-thompson-ep-172 Is there something I can update on the code or implement it in another way to the page so that it shows the first time you land on the page? I have also tried using the code with the " <script src="https://app.podscribe.ai/static/js/embed.js"></script> " removed and it still has the same issue. Code being used:
  8. Hi all! I have a quick question. I have been hosting a podcast through my business website for almost three years. About three months ago, I noticed that my podcast “episode notes” were being cut off in Apple Podcasts as displayed below. I haven’t changed the way I write the audio content so checked previous episodes and they weren’t cut off as shown below. Now I’m limited to 200 characters, which is extremely difficult to do given the amount of information that I provide listeners. I was told that the cause would have to be in my RSS feed, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to access my own RSS feed details so I can look for causes. Can someone please direct me to where to find this? Thank you so much for reading. Best, Jen
  9. Hi there, I use my site to host a podcast, uploading each new episode the usual way by creating a new blog post, adding an audio block, uploading the episode (MP3 file) and the RSS feed does the rest. I've uploaded several episodes now, but a piece of content in the first episode bugs me. If I was to go into that post and replace the MP3 file in the audio block with a corrected version, would that file seemlessly replace the original in all the locations the RSS feed sends it to? Or would this do something silly to the order of episodes and bump this one up to being the most recent in the feed? Thanks in advance for any responses!
  10. Site URL: http://www.smifsc.com/podcast So I'm trying to use an Embed block on a Blog parent page to display the Apple Podcast player. Apple claims on their page "The player is responsive. Its width will automatically expand to fit mobile and desktop layouts." However that doesn't seem to be true on my page. I want the scroll bar to go away and for the div/container to adjust to the size of the embedded content. On mobile it cuts off very small and is unusable. It does the same on desktop but is more usable. I've tried a little code injection in the style sheet but nothing so far has worked. Can someone help this iframe work better on our site? Thank you in advance! The embed code is: <iframe src="https://embed.podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/in-the-fields/id1588269214?itsct=podcast_box_player&amp;itscg=30200&amp;ls=1&amp;theme=auto" height="450px" frameborder="0" sandbox="allow-forms allow-popups allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation" allow="autoplay *; encrypted-media *;" style="width: 100%; max-width: 660px; overflow: hidden; border-radius: 10px; background: transparent;"></iframe>
  11. I have had a podcast on Podomatic for 4 years. If I switch to Squarespace for hosting how difficult is it to update all the places Podomatic sends our feed to? I dont want to start all over again. For example from Podomatic our podcast goes to Iheart Radio, Apple Podcasts, Deezer, Player FM and many more. If I switch to Squarespace will it update the RSS feed to those?
  12. Site URL: https://www.kulturedgroundz.com/podcast-episodes-1 I recently switched my podcast from a hosting site to my website. I've tried my best to follow the steps that Squarespace provides but of course something went wrong. So after redirecting my RSS Feed I created a blog post, added audio blocks for each of my podcast episodes but when i check the rss feed validator none of my episodes pop up on all platforms including Apple. I know Ive done something wrong as this is a tedious operation. Can someone, anyone help me with this? https://www.kulturedgroundz.com/podcast-episodes-1?format=rss I have 59 episodes that are all on my webstie but not on Apple, Spotify etc.
  13. Hello! Considering our recent times, I've had to transition all of my podcast interviews from in-person to over the phone conversations. While my audio sounds great using my Shure microphone plugged into a Zoom H6, the guest's audio is often poor (using over the phone...which is plugged into my H6, as well). What do you think is the best option for recording the guest? Do you instruct your guests to connect on Zoom but the require the use of headphones (a particular type, perhaps)? Do you rely on a wifi enabled phone call? Any tricks and technology suggestions are appreciated! Michael The Elements of Being Podcast http://www.michaelmoodyfitness.com/the-elements-of-being-podcast
  14. Site URL: https://themeasureofanepisode.squarespace.com I use Podtrac as a third party podcast download tracker via the "Podcast Analytics URL" field in the Podcasting upload section of our blog post. Currently, Podtrac is reporting we get an average of 20 listens per episode. However, the Squarespace RSS Subscribers Analytics is reporting around 3,500 subscribers per day, which is a giant discrepancy. I understand a download and a subscriber isn't the same thing. But, what could be the reason for such a discrepancy?
  15. Site URL: https://hitlikeagirlpod.com/episodes I'm switching my podcast episodes from the built in SS audio player to Megaphone's service, which gets pulled in through to each episode post through an iframe. Does this change require that I update my RSS feed to Megaphone's, or will SS pick up the audiofile from the iframe code? I have the business plan.
  16. Site URL: https://jenny-young-ry38.squarespace.com/clswpodcast?format=rss Hi all, I've created a blog on a website to host a podcast. I've created the RSS feed (https://jenny-young-ry38.squarespace.com/clswpodcast?format=rss) and yet when I try and submit to Apple Podcasts Connect is just times out. Has anyone else come across this, and do you know the fix? The RSS feed itself seems fine. I've run it through a few third party RSS feed validators, and they come back with green ticks. I can even manually import the show into the Apple Podcasts app with no problem - it pulls in artwork, description and the media. I also had a go at submitting to Stitcher and it submitted fine and is now there on the Stitcher site (https://www.stitcher.com/show/the-creative-life-story-work-podcast) I'm at a bit of a loss - many thanks! Will
  17. Hi, I have the problem, that when I submit my podcast to https://itunesconnect.apple.com/ I see HTML-Tags within my description of my podcast. Within the Squarespace input field for that description, I ensured that no line breaks or any further formation is included within the description text. Anyhow, when I open the RSS-Feed the description Tag always contains a CDATA block followed by a HTML Paragraph-Tag. Thats something I can't influence, and it makes the description look very ugly. Can someone help or approve that I'm doing something wrong or is it a known issue?
  18. Hi, I have a website for a podcasting company that produce multiple series. It seems that Squarespace's podcast templates are designed just for single-series but I need a template for multiple-series. Can anyone recommend a template solution or some design tricks that would serve my purpose?
  19. Site URL: http://theoptionalfacts.com Hi there, First, I apologize if this is in the wrong place but it seemed like the right place to start. I am trying to add my podcast to google play, and I am having an issue. I get this error message and I cannot figure out how to resolve it. I would appreciate any and all help. Thank-you. Dave
  20. Site URL: https://wearebluecabin.com/clswpodcast Hi does anyone know if third party analytics will include podcast plays from within the website, or will they just pick up downloads via RSS? Presumably SS just sticks the third party analytics URL in front of the path for the audio file. So if you click 'play' on the audio block, presumably it triggers a play-count with the third party analytics (Blubrry free analytics) as it'll play the file via that modified URL? Thanks all,
  21. Site URL: https://www.cowardspace.com/opheads Hello! So I run a website for a podcast, there's about ten episodes and each one requires its own 'episode page' (for research notes and so on) which I have been adding as I go. After fiddling around trying to find a way to format the main 'podcast page' so that the episodes are easy to navigate, it occurred to me that it would have been a much more simple move to add each 'episode page' to a Blog format, as the navigation options are a lot more easy to work with. I could create them all again from scratch, but I'm thinking their must be an easy way to either 'drag' or 'copy' the entirety of my 'normal web page' directly into the blog format to create 10 seperate 'blog pages' Is this an easy thing to achieve? Just curious Thanks :)
  22. Site URL: https://www.mission43.org/m43-media/m43-podcast-ep22-david-vobora Hello, Does anyone know of a way to capture clicks or listens to an audio block on your squarespace page? For example, we have a blog/media page where we upload podcast episodes through an audio block. Here is one of the pages for reference: https://www.mission43.org/m43-media/m43-podcast-ep22-david-vobora The audio file then feeds into other podcast platforms like Spotify, Google Play, etc. through the RSS feed. We can get the data on the other platforms when streamed through there, but would like to capture the data on our page if possible. Thanks,
  23. Site URL: https://www.abundantbeans.com/ I have a client (https://www.abundantbeans.com/) and they are wanting to combine 2 of their businesses into 1 - creating a new webpage that they've had created on WordPress. Part of that is moving the podcast postings over to there. Is there a way to do a re-direct it so we keep making the blog posts on squarespace but they are able to transfer everything over to there?
  24. Site URL: https://meningitis-foundation.squarespace.com/podcast-stories I am hoping someone can help. I am loading podcasts for the first time and ultimately I need a single page to feature 13 podcasts. After looking around for different types of solutions there seems to be 2 solutions that I can see. https://meningitis-foundation.squarespace.com/podcast-stories pa33word Note...please ignore the long excerpts, it's there so the client can cull the content down 😉 Option 1 – Set it up using a blog Problem = This takes you to individual detail pages to listen to each podcast. If this is the only solution, is there a way to play the podcast in the initial landing page rather than on 3 separate blog pages? Option 2 – Set the page up manually and use audio blocks. This is very manual so I wondered if there was another way to listen to the podcasts all on the same page. Here's hoping some clever person can help!! Thanks in advance 😉
  25. Hi,I used to host my podcast in squarespace, but recently I switched to podbean. When I was hosting it on squarespace the rss feed was created through audioblogs, resulting in blog-posts with seperate sites for each episodes. This came in handy for the google search function, because when you googled the name of my guest and "interview" the seperate blog-post page popped up immediately. It does not do so with the podbean site and that makes me wonder if it is possible to automatically create a blog post page from my external rss feed or through some other workaround. This would also help with google ads, because these sites could be the landing pages of specific ads. Thanks for help!Jan
