  1. Site URL: https://andreali.com/news-blog/2020/6/4/how-to-connect-your-squarespace-ecommerce-website-to-pinterest-verified-merchant-program The Pinterest platform recently announced the opportunity for creators and sellers to become verified merchants on their site. As a verified merchant, your Pinterest account would display within your profile page a checkmark, a’la Twitter’s verified badge. Additionally, your account would be able to post Shoppable Pins to the platform. Those are some great benefits (see here) to obtain from the Pinterest platform - so I worked with my team to create this guide for myself and others, sharing how we were able to achieve Verified Merchant status on Pinterest using my Squarespace eCommerce website. (One quick note - at the time of this writing, you must be a US based merchant to become Verified.) Because Squarespace is not as supported with Pinterest as Shopify (they provide an third-party app to handle all the technical integration to Pinterest) my team and I had to figure out our own way to make this happen. Details of our findings as well as the code snippets to copy and paste are all outlined in my blog post with the provided URL above.
  2. Hello! I've contacted pinterest multiple times and they haven't been able to help me. I'm trying to create a pinterest conversion ad campaign. I followed the steps here https://help.pinterest.com/en/business/article/squarespace-and-pinterest-tag and inserted my unique tag ID where it said to. I put the two separate codes where it said to, in my site header and in the checkout page section. When I try to create a conversion ad in pinterest it won't allow me to and says "Your Pinterest tag is not firing conversion events" I reached out to pinterest and they gave me a new code and said to put this only in the header and it will replace the initial codes they gave me. <!-- Begin Pinterest base code --> <script> !function(e){if(!window.pintrk){window.pintrk=function() {window.pintrk.queue.push(Array.prototype.slice.call(arguments))};var n=window.pintrk;n.queue=[],n.version="3.0";var t=document.createElement("script");t.async=!0,t.src=e;var r=document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0];r.parentNode.insertBefore(t,r)}} ("https://s.pinimg.com/ct/core.js"); pintrk('load','2612384564892', { em: '{customerEmailAddress}', np: 'generator' , }); pintrk('page'); </script> <!-- End Pinterest base code --> <script> /*addtocart event*/ function pinATC(){ if (document.querySelectorAll('.....sqs-add-to-cart-button-inner')) { var ATCbutton = document.querySelectorAll('.....sqs-add-to-cart-button-inner'); for (var i = 0; i < ATCbutton.length; i++) { ATCbutton.addEventListener('click', function(){ pintrk('track', 'addtocart',{ np: 'generator', value: 'varPlaceholder', order_quantity: 'varPlaceholder', })})}}} document.readyState == 'complete' ? pinATC():window.Squarespace.onInitialize(Y, pinATC); </script> It's been a day and I'm still getting the same message from pinterest saying that my tag isn't firing. Anyone know what I can do to get my tags to fire to pinterest? Thank you!
  3. To others in my same boat...I thought a quick explanation would be helpful. I was trying to create a pinterest catalog for my shop and couldn't quite figure it all out, and there is little to no information out there on how to really do it. I only have a handful of physical products, and well over 100 digital files in my shop. So, the provided CSV file that you can find in the "inventory" section of your shop wouldn't work for me. Those of you with just physical products can have a file created for you by clicking on the "export all" button on the top right of your Inventory screen of your shop. You can actually select specific items to export by clicking on the empty circle to the left of each item in your inventory, then pushing the export button on the top right. It may automatically download a CSV file to your computer, or you can click on the file that pops up on the dropdown menu. You're going to get more info than you made need in the CSV file, so you may need to edit it. That's up to you. Back to creating your own CSV file...I clicked on their example of a CSV file to know what I needed to add to a CSV file of my own. Sidenote, they actually require less now, than what their example says. There are actual requirements listed on this Pinterest page, which are the following: Required fields: id (You can decide what the id is) title (The title you have it listed as in your shop) description (something that describes your item...physical, digital, and so on) link (a direct link to the item in your shop) image_link (right click on your image, and select "copy image link" to find your image link) price (the non-sale price that you have it listed) availability (type "in stock" if it's available) condition (although this isn't required, it helps with setting up the catalog...ex. new, used, refurbished.) You may be aware of those requirements, for those who don't hopefully that is helpful. To I don't have excel, because I use google sheets. To start I filled out the top of the table with all the different requirements...as listed above...id, title, description, link, image link, price, and availability. Then I started filling in the requirements for each item. Yes, in order to get a CSV file with all my digital items, I created it my own. Finding out what the image link was, was silly to figure out...because of how easy it is. It took me longer to figure out than it should have, and I didn't find any info out there about it. When you are on the item's page right click on the image, and then select "copy image link" to get the link for you add to the table. After I added all the info for 140 items from my shop to google sheets, I needed to create a CSV file link. I tried saving it to google drive, and they won't accept that link. So after searching once again, I finally found some random video on youtube, that showed how to "publish to web". The video was old, and of course google sheets has been updated. So... Click on File, Share, Publish to Web. The popup has options. I made sure the "entire document" was selected, as well as "Comma-seperated values (.csv)", then I clicked publish. It will ask you if you want it published. Click yes. Then use the link provided, as your CSV link to paste into the required section in the pinterest catalog. Then click submit and cross your fingers that it works...haha! To be honest after trying over and over again...I was shocked it actually worked!! I know these steps are basic, and for some they may know exactly what to do. For the rest of us, I wish I had someone to show me what to do. It would have saved me to much time and frustration. Sidenote, my digital items loaded fine. My physical items listed with "only 1 in stock" got denied. Which I can understand. When it sells it would require that item to be removed from the catalog, and I'm not sure how easy that is to manage. I've never used this newer catalog option. As far as listing things on sale...under the price section on the CSV file, unless you permanently have them listed on sale, its best to do the regular price. I've even learned when linking blog posts about sales, they become irrelevant when the sale is over. These are the tips that have worked for me. I hope they work for you too, however things change often enough so this info may need to be updated. We can also hope that Pinterest and Squarespace have an easier way to integrate in the future.
  4. Site URL: https://noahlangphotography.com/blog/climbing-denali-west-buttress In the image attached I don't like how the pintrest button won't scroll under the banner like the rest of the text when part of the image is under banner? Is there a way to fix this?

  6. Site URL: https://www.walkalongwithus.com/our-florida/blog-best-seafood-sarasota Hey Team! All of our images have the Pinterest "Save" button enabled. Ideally, I'd only like to allow specific images on the page to be able to be Pinned. Is there a way I can do this?
  7. Site URL: http://www.norrisgreendesign.com/shop Hello fellow squarespace users. I've been pulling my hair out with product rich pins. Long story short after lots of time wasted and conversations with squarespace support they admitted that product rich pins don't work properly. They don't pull in the price or a 'buy' button like they should. I had them working perfectly before switching to squarespace. What's the point in a product rich pin if it doesn't have the price or a call to action?! Does anyone have product rich pins working properly with squarespace? Thanks in advance for any info or help. Jamie

  10. Hi - I am trying to become a verified merchant on pinterest but any blogs i have found require the site to be on version 7 to be able to upload your product CSV file - My site is on version 7.1 so i cant turn on developer mode to be able to work around it. Has anyone else figured out how to become verified on pinterest yet without compromising your site?
  11. Site URL: https://kitseats.com Does anyone know how to turn off rich pins on Pinterest? I recently moved from Wordpress (where I could turn rich pins off) and now all my pins have recipe info and I find I'm getting a lot let traffic from Pinterest now.

  15. I have added a "Pin it" button on the site www.cuteplushies.net to enable users to directly pin images from a link to Pinterest. But most of the times, my main image does not appear in the options given on Pinterest to pin. I want specific images to show to the user as options to add as a pin. Is there any solution to this problem?
  16. Site URL: https://www.dy-photography.com/ Hey I installed the pin shared button on my website , however i would like some page, like about page, contact.... without the pin button. Any code injection will work ? Thanks
  17. Site URL: https://www.houseofzeus.ca Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to embed Pinterest videos onto a blog post? Such that Pinterest is acting as "hosting" the video. The post in question is: https://www.houseofzeus.ca/blog/3d-printed-slow-feeder I have allotted a space with a Video Block where I would like to insert a video - this pin: https://www.pinterest.ca/pin/683069468474509235/ Thanks in advance!
  18. Site URL: https://www.amovintage.com/ PLEASE HELP 🙂 I have enabled pinterest buttons but HATE the little red icon that comes up on hover and think this looks much more sassy, does anyone know how I can replicate this in 7.1??? Dont care for the facebook or twitter button just the pinterest. Like it in grey a lot too!! THANKYOU
  19. Hello, Pinterest accepted my application to sell directly on their site, but my first "ingestion" failed, as, unlike Facebook, they require google_product_category to not be null. Is there a way to fill in this value? They also won't accept manual uploads of the product CSV file. I also have thought about putting the CSV file elsewhere on my website, but I don't know if I can do that. These would be the two categories I would use: 9 - Home & Garden > Decor > Artwork 500044 - Home & Garden > Decor > Artwork > Posters, Prints & Visual Artwork
  20. Is it possible to place my Pinterest tag and "add-to-cart" event code on the checkout page? I would like the event to fire on the url: www.mydomain.com/checkout. I already tried the code injection page (where I was able to add my Pinterest tag and "checkout" event code on the order confirmation page). I would like to be able to retarget users who added items to the cart, but didn't checkout. Thank you for your help!
  21. Site URL: http://www.AntoineArt.com I want to set up Pinterest tags in order to use Rich Pins. It seems like Squarespace is not integrated with Pinterest for catalogs. I already have a business Pinterest account and claimed my site. I will highly appreciate help -either on how to do this (the Pinterest directions seems a bit complicated: https://developers.pinterest.com/docs/rich-pins/products/?) Or if you are a developer able to help I will appreciate a quote. I would like to set up rich pins for all my products on AntoineArt.com. Thank you!
  22. Site URL: https://www.graciousvegan.com I would like to add a block text to my Pins beyond the default fields that transfer to the Pin. (I do recipe posts and would like to add a list of ingredients to each Pin.) Is it possible to add an additional block of text to a rich Pin?
  23. Hi I just completed my portfolio using the avenue template. I have turned off Marketing/Share Buttons & Pinterest Save Buttons but these are still appearing. Also the pin buttons do not even align over the relevant image. I am not using the 'Blog' or 'About' pages so have hidden these. I'm only using the 'Work' page. I have tried to search for all guides on this. One guide talked about Site Style tweeks but I cant find anything that relates to the pin button in the site style options I can see. I can only see COLORS, TYPOGRAPHY, SIZE VAlUES, INDEX STYLES, OPTIONS........ Please can you tell me what I am missing here???
  24. I have enabled rich pins so that when people pin images from my blog using my Pinterest Save Button, it fills in all the extra metadata from Squarespace, like the post title, post description, alt text, etc. I used this article to do it: https://thirtyeightvisuals.com/blog/pinterest-rich-pins-squarespace?fbclid=IwAR3MihzgrQd1XZXzwaOL5uoOftb4gzWsqe8oW-6CHzcgmhzVrk16fcKL9wA It works kind of well. Sometimes certain pins don't follow the rules. Like, in that link she shows how to make the author default to "My Name | My Blog Name" instead of simply "My Name". It only works about half the time; some pins will say the correct author and other pins still just say "My Name". Whatever, I can deal with that. Sometimes the title is not the blog title like it's supposed to be, which is a little more annoying, but it's an infrequent problem I can also deal with. But, I want to be able to change the description. Using the above, the main description defaults to my blog post description, and the secondary description defaults to my image alt text. Leaving alt text as-is is fine, but for the main description I want to create my own special description for the pin, mainly because some of my blog post descriptions are really long, I'd like the pin description to be more succinct without having to change my blog post description. Also I want to add hashtags to my pin description. I know on Wordpress they can edit data-pin-description, alt text, data-pin-title, data-pin-url, data-pin-media, etc etc when they upload an image. Squarespace users have no automated way of doing this, but I figured there must be a way to do it manually. So then I found these instructions: https://www.untangledbiz.com/blog/2018/11/7/why-alt-text-not-the-right-place-for-pin-descriptions This also....kind of works. I can put in the correct image and URL, but none of the other metadata tags populate correctly. Data-pin-description fills in the secondary description that's in small text at the bottom (which is usually just the image alt text), instead of the main description. What I'm wanting to edit is the main description. Using "alt="insert alt text here" doesn't work at all to change the alt text area back to what it's supposed to be. Data-pin-title doesn't work at all either, it's still defaulting to the blog post title. (This is a brand new tag Pinterest is implementing so maybe I shouldn't expect data-pin-title to work yet, but my Wordpress friends have gotten it to work). Any other ideas? How can I change my pin descriptions to something custom instead of just the blog post description? Doesn't seem like it should be this hard. Should I just give up and accept whatever the rich pin format gives me?
  25. Site URL: http://www.somewherecrazy.com Hello! I would like to create some ads on Pinterest and I am trying to do things right step by step. I believe I have successfully installed my Pinterest BASE CODE in my Squarespace website (in Settings>Advanced>Code Injection>Header - changing YourTagID with my tracking code). I would like now to add an EVENT CODE... and I am lost. My goal is that my website visitors actually sign up to the contact form on my website. There are several contact forms around the website - the main one in the Contact Page but also in some other pages. So what should I do? In Squarespace in Settings > Advanced > Inject Code there is a space for ORDER CONFIRMATION PAGE. Is it where I have to paste my event code? And also which event code should I paste? Is it this one? <script> pintrk('track', 'signup', { lead_type: 'New release promotion' }); </script> or this one? <script> pintrk('track', 'lead', { lead_type: 'Newsletter' }); </script> Do I need to change part of the code? the part where it's written 'New release promotion' or 'Newsletter'? I guess I should change it with Contact Form but to which contact forms of the many will it refer to? I need to know what's the coding name of the contact forms... how can I know it?
