  1. Hey, I just got a message from a client ( a photographer) "....I thought was odd because I limited EVERY file to less tham 740kb at 3000px..This file was showing as 2500px and was saying it was 1.5mb So then I recompressed it and made it 2500px sent it through tiny JPG and got it to 442kb..I uploaded it to Squarespace and now its showing as 666kb…SO squarespace in resizing my images has made them ALL larger which is making the site fail speed test which is certainly going to effect my performance. " That sounded strange so I ran another test myself (screenshot attached) 1) exam
  2. Site URL: https://www.TwelveAndTwentyEight.com Hello All - Our Digital Marketing Team told us that our home page size is approx 7 MB which is not good for SEO and needs to be reduced if possible. Below is the breakup of elements contributing to that size from a Chrome Extension called Page Inspector. As you can see JS, CSS is contributing approzx 4 MB to the page size. Is there a way to reduce it by some squarespace settings? Isn't Squarespace optimizing code JS, HTML, CSS on it's own- same way it optimizes image sizes? As per https://www.directom.com/minify-javascript-css-warnings/ Squaresp
  3. Site URL: http://www.realestateanalyzers.com For some reason I am having major performance issues specifically with Android phones loading the mobile version of the site. The home page loads fine but when a user starts browsing to other pages it is taking 15-20 seconds before the page loads. There are no issues on iOS devices. Any suggestions would be super helpful! 4. I'm sure someone from Squarespace will tell me that as a platform, Google treats them differently than the rest of the world - or that in fact, SS is 'special'. Google not to long ago released Core Web Vitals. They have a good explanation of what this is here: https://web.dev/vitals/ Don't be fooled, web.dev is Google, not some third party. Guess what, Google doesn't treat Squarespace any different from any other website - whether it uses custom Javascript, PhP, Asp.net or other code vs. a builder CMS like SS, Wix, Weebly. They are all the same in the eyes of Google. So

  6. Site URL: https://www.palazzodelgolfo.com I logged into google analytics and saw this insight "Your site performs below average for 375x812" I assume this is on mobile? How do I fix this? What exactly is the issue? Am planning a site redesign at some point anyway once I get some professional photos taken of my vacation home.
  7. I have noticed odd behaviour on Brine templates, on iOS 13.2.2. It looks like this: Text links work as expected, e.g. hover effects, and the linked page loads quickly. Buttons, however, suffer a delay when clicked before the hover effect kicks in, and then another delay before the linked page starts to load. Sometimes, the button shows clicked state but nothing happens until another click. I can see that on some of these clicks, Safari using location services (location services arrow goes solid for a second when the button is clicked). This happens on my site: https://www.w
  8. The new SEO tools are nice but since page speed is one of the most relevant aspects you should do something about slow loading. Just a few examples of what Googles PageSpeedInsights tell me: Eliminate render-blocking resources. Estimated savings: 4.19 s Details: Resources are blocking the first paint of your page. Consider delivering critical JS/CSS inline and deferring all non-critical JS/styles. URL Size Potential Savings /ik/_PbYZD3ye….js(use.typekit.net) 8 KB 780 ms …scripts-compressed/common-526b9c5…-min.en-US.js(assets.squarespace.com) 424 KB 3,330 ms …156…/site.css?&
  9. Hi everyone! I am fairly new to Squarespace. Our company is currently creating a new website, which is basically just a front to our cloud based software. The website is being run on squarespace servers, but our software is run on our own servers. This means if our servers are taken down for maintenance etc. we could probably monitor that the server is up or down and show it to users trying to log on through our squarespace website. Has anyone done this before? Is there any code we can use to monitor if the site is up or down and show it through text or image on our site? Any help
