  1. Update: I posted a new tutorial on hiding links in navbar here, in case you are interested I see that a lot of people have the same kind of problem and the root of it is that there isn't any effective way to have a bilingual SS6 site. So if you want to make a bilingual site what are your options? the Google Translator, which is no option for me this method by SS, no an option either After a lot of research and brainstorming I came up with the conclusion that you can: Create a blog/page in your primary language of choice (X- for me that's GREEK VERSION) Duplicate each page/blog(for blogs must be done manually), modify its language (to Y- eg ENGLISH VERSION) and move them to the unlinked pages section, so their links won't be in the nav-bar In "Top Navigation" add the pages' links that you want to appear in the navigation bar eg About page, Contact etc in both languages Then with a simple CSS code you can hide the X language's pages from the Y language's blog and vice versa. So your in your English blog will appear only English pages, info in the nav bar, in Greek only Greek etc. You got it! You can put on your sidebar 2 flags or something like this and you can switch between your X-Y language blogs/pages So, all you need is that damn code. So, the code is below and it's the kind answer by: @rwilson and is given here !

  3. Hello, I'm trying to create a multilingual website with 3 languages at the moment. I found some code online in order to do it. Basically I duplicated pages for each languages and created 3 folders as a language switcher. It works like a dropdown menu. On the browser it works fine. But on mobile I can't switch languages. It shows the language name eg. "English" when you click on it looks empty, you can't see the other language options. This is the website I used the code from. https://beaverhero.com/squarespace-03-languages/ I am also using a business account. Is there a way to fix this? Any help is much appreciated!
  4. Site URL: https://www.creativeblackwomansplaybook.com/ As designers, we always love the opportunity to engage in a collaborative project with people who value great design, so we were thrilled when Weglot approached us with the idea to collaborate on a multilingual website to showcase the work of a talented artist while demonstrating the translation capabilities using Weglot and Squarespace. After considering some colleagues to be the focus of the project, we thought Co–Conspirator Press was perfect. Co–Co press is a publication platform that operates out of Los Angeles based Women's Center for Creative Work. They work with independent artists, writers, and other creatives to help them share their voice. After proposing the project to them, we decided to showcase “The Creative Black Woman’s Playbook” by author Veronica Cammile Ratliff. A digital version of the book was created for this project to be sold on the Squarespace site as well as a Spanish translation (working with Weglot for the translation) of the ebook. The site features snippets from the book, information about the author and Co–Co Press, as well as the ability to toggle between English and Spanish for the website content. We had a blast working on this, come see why it was so fun.
  5. I'm trying to create a cover page for my website so that I can offer access to both a french version and an english version. However Squarespace version 7.1 doesn't seem to have the option for a cover page. How do I create a cover page without the header and footer which simply has an image with buttons to english and french in which people can choose which version they access. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me find the answer. I've been looking everywhere and can't find the answer!
  6. Site URL: https://www.mesahatfoundation.org I am using the Basil Template, I have Several Folders, that contain Pages, in Each Language. My problem is that Both languages appear in the navigation menu, while I need the ONLY English to appear when the visitor Selects English at the Welcome Page, and Vise Versa. I tried the Create-multilingual-site, and several other things and it was NOT what I am looking for.
  7. Site URL: https://www.mattiaantonelliofficial.com/ Dear SQSP users, do you know how to add a flag in the navigation bar that gives visitors the chance to switch between languages? Thanks, M
  8. Site URL: https://villa-rondinelli.squarespace.com/ Hi there, I'm building a multilingual website with Squarespace 7.1. It will be in 2 languages (Italian and English) and I was wondering if there's a way to have footer, cookies banner and 404 page text in the language the visitor is in. You enter the website through this cover page: https://villa-rondinelli.squarespace.com/cover that brings you to the home page: https://villa-rondinelli.squarespace.com/home/it Password: maggie-villa Regarding the footer, I'd like that when clicking on the links in the footer (Privacy policy, Note legali, Credits) they will bring you to the related page in Italian or English. For now the website is in Italian only, I'm going to add the English pages with this method: https://beaverhero.com/squarespace-2-languages/ Thanks!
  9. Hello, I just added a second language to my website and managed to also change the language of button that is on the header. The problem is that this button links to a form and I can not manage to add different links to the secondary language form. My other problem is that when I click on the logo and I am navigating in my secondary language it takes me back to the home of my primary language. Does anyone know how to solve this? Thank you in advanced!
  10. Site URL: http://labastilla.org Hello everyone. I have a webpage www.labastilla.org that have several buttons, one of them will send you to a not linked page. There, I want to hide the primary or secondary navigation since it is a multilingual site, however I haven't found the CCS. Thank you.
  11. Site URL: https://weglot.com/integrations/translate-squarespace-website/ Hey everyone! I’m Eugene from Weglot (a multilingual solution to translate any website). Weglot has been compatible with Squarespace since last year and we’re getting great feedback from our Squarespace users so far! I just wanted to post a quick message to introduce myself and Weglot! How does Weglot work? Here is an example of a simple Squarespace + Weglot demo site: https://weglot-sqspace.com/ And our integration guide: https://weglot.com/integrations/translate-squarespace-website/ To go more into details a little bit, here is how Weglot works for Squarespace: Weglot scans your website content, sends it to our Translation API and the API sends back the translations and changes the content for the translations. This makes it very light, fast and simple to maintain. You have 2 ways of implementing it: JavaScript integration: Quick and easy integration. Simply copy paste a short JavaScript code in your website header (Important: You need a Squarespace Business plan to do this). It takes 5 minutes to install and doesn’t require any coding knowledge. Subdomain integration: More in-depth and better for SEO. Connect Weglot via your DNS (fr.mydomain.com -> French version handled via Weglot). A little longer to implement as you need to set up subdomains but it takes 2 minutes and it’s more SEO friendly. All your pages will be automatically indexed on Google! Here is a video to show you step by step how to install Weglot on a Squarespace website (it's a bit outdated but you can get the main points): Have any questions? If you ever have any questions on Weglot or on how to make a Squarespace multilingual website, please contact us at support@weglot.com, our support team would be more than happy to help! Oh, and we’re planning some cool new stuff for the Squarespace community, so stay tuned! 😉 Cheers, Eugene
  12. Site URL: https://www.figura-sculpture.com/ Hi there, A have a multilingual site (with custom coding) and I was wondering if there is a possibility to know where the user is located so the site switches to that language. I have a English- Dutch site. So When you enter the site from a Dutch IP you go to the Dutch part of the site. Hope this is a possibility! Thanks for getting back! Bart
  13. Hi all, to make this short as possible and clear enough this is my problem: Im using Marquee template for years now and it is multilingual hiding navigation Menu in different language using nth-child and it is working like a charm for years but to make this css code to work I had to disable Mobile Styles in Template Settings. Now I'm working on migration to Brine template and after a two weeks of hard work I have found that Brine is not supporting this feature and I need it desperately because I don't know other solution. Can this be done with CSS just to force desktop Menu on Mobile as well because nth-child code works only for desktop navigation menu??? THANKS IN ADVANCE...
  14. Site URL: https://www.slowtravelmorocco.com/ hey there. i am using 7.1 and experiencing an issue as I duplicated all pages to implement a second language. i built /de/ URLs for german and /en/ for english pages. now i want to link a few pages only in the footer ("data security & imprint" and "faqs")..but there is only 1 footer available..is there a solution to that issue? So if the english version of my website is showing to a user i want them to see those two in the footer (and not in the main navigation) - and same the other way around when a german user is viewing the german version of the website.. anyone any idea how to code this ? i hope theres a solution to this..i have no coding experience.. thank you! i appreciate any help.
  15. Site URL: https://www.rampeerdolomiti.com Hello, I have a little problem, I added a code to my website to make it multi language, it shows perfectly in the editor but once published the header titles in both languages shows. I used the coding from this blog: https://www.bradgood.net/articles/multi-language-content-on-any-squarespace-template In attachment a screenshot of the problem (I currently published the website in only 1 language to avoid the problem). Thanks to everyone for the help!! Daniel
  16. hi, I think i have asked a wrong question in what i really want for my website before. I have a site in two languages, in English and Chinese. Has anyone figured how to hide one language's links from the other using only CSS(on 7.1)? I have looked at this here but it does not work for 7.1 at all. I tried this but it does not work at all, what do i have to replace to make them work with 7.1? Thank you so much
  17. Hi there, I have a client based in the US and UK who wants a site created with two versions; one with UK language and terminology and the other with US language and terminology. The two site versions will have separate domain names; one for the US and one for the UK. Do I have to create two separate sites (with 98% shared content, this is probably not advisable from an SEO point of view?), or is there a way that I can build all of this into one site and then direct the domains to two separate landing pages within the site without the user being aware of the existence of the other site version? Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks 🙂
  18. I have created a store in French and I must now create the English version of this same store. Is there a way to duplicate the store just to change the translated texts?
  19. I have built a dual language site in accordance with recommended design by squarespace (using a cover page as home page, and each language has its own folder of pages, duplicated and translated). I can workaround every squarespace limitation except the contact form. On the Portuguese contact page, under the Name fields is "first name" and "last name" and I am told it would require custom CSS code. I did find an answer for this, but it would change BOTH contact page forms into whatever I chose, and I need one to remain English. Anyone know how to change these fields, just for that one contact page form?
  20. Hello, I've created my website using 2 languages. The primary navigation is in english and the secondary is in french. I used coding so that the headers of the primary navigation won't show the secondary navigation headers and vice-versa. My website is almost ready but I'm having a problem with the checkout page. It actually shows all the headers (french and english) instead of one or the other. I've read that we cannot change the text of the checkout page due do security reasons... What about the header? Is there an option to not show the header in the checkout page? Is there a line of code to add in the others pages so that it modify the results in the checkout page? Here is the code that I used: <style>nav.Header-nav--primary { display: none; } .Mobile-overlay-nav--primary { display: none; } </style> <style>nav.Header-nav--secondary { display: none; } .Mobile-overlay-nav--secondary { display: none; } </style>
  21. Site URL: https://www.ospr.pr.gov Been working on Multi-lingual site using the Mentor Template of the Brine Family, I'm still on demo mode waiting for client to approve final website. When client see's website from regular link I give them Secondary menu never appears. It works fine navigating on backend mode. Does this have to do with the fact we have not payed subscription yet?
  22. Site URL: https://travelersoftomorrow.com/ Hi there, I finished and published my multilingual site and people choose their language on my home page as it's usually the case for Squarespace websites. However, I would like that, when a visitor clicks on my site logo (top left), they would be taken back to their language home page (/home for english, /accueil for french) and not back to the page where they have to choose language again. I feel like this issue makes navigating the website kind of annoying. Apologies if this issue has been addressed before. FYI - I know really little about coding. Many thanks to anyone willing to help! 🙂
  23. Site URL: https://www.greencondom.club/ Hey peeps, This is not a question per se, more like sharing a solution I found. I needed to make my website multilingual and multi-currency a while back. I really struggled to find solutions meeting my requirements, so I came up with a solution: Use Weglot for the translation (no page duplicate, can translate the checkout) Duplicate the shop section of my Squarespace site for the 2nd currency (and pay Commerce again) Set up Geotargetly to redirect people according to their location Use Datafeedwatch to list our products on Google Shopping and Facebook Catalog I wrote a detailed guide on how I've done it. Hopefully, it helps someone. Cheers
  24. Site URL: https://www.gentglas.com Hi, We made a multilingual site dutch/english. In the home page you can choose the language. if you choose dutch the second row of the navigation bar is shown in dutch like it should (see navigation attached) and links to url /nl see page settings. But if you click on the 1st row of navigation you suddenly change the language to english. So the second row switches to english. Does anyone know a solution in javascript perhaps that can make sure i stay in the dutch folder.
