  1. Site URL: https://www.rossandlaura2023.com/ Hiya Folks, I'm finalizing my website for my Partner and I's wedding. I was excited to see the new layout engine and found it very helpful to really hone in on a layout that I liked. Everything looked good on the Desktop preview, and I loved being able to go in to the mobile preview and independently adjust the content layout to optimize it for mobile. However, after saving the website and asking my partner to review it on her phone, we noticed that there were some really annoying spacing issues. It seems as though this is mostly when I have used a header. Everything looks fine on the mobile preview on squarespace but when looking at the website on mobile, there is a lot more space after every instance of text that uses my heading. Is there any way I can correct this? I will attach some side by side images highlighting the difference between the mobile preview on squarespace and how it looks on a mobile device. If you fancy looking at the website or want to inspect the coding, the website password is: Tulum2023 Cheers
  2. Site URL: https://abstylestudio.net Hello! I have adjusted my website and would love to have feedback. Do the colors work, is my work explained well? Too few photos? All feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Amy
  3. Site URL: https://www.kinrock.com/ I'm building a site that looks fine on desktop, but on mobile has all this extra vertical spacing that doesn't appear on the site builder but does on the live site. See screenshot attached that shows the site builder for mobile layout on left, and actual live site on right.
  4. Site URL: https://www.cobbledstreetshop.co.uk/shop Hello! Looking at the analytics, a high percentage of my audience just go to the home page and leave rather than exploring the rest of the shop (sadly). Could I have people's opinion please on my website? I'm not sure how to improve it. I would really appreciate some advice please, thank you 🙂
  5. Site URL: https://www.firebellymarketing.com/blog Hi, how can I align the author and category in the blog feed with more than one category or author for mobile? The layout is not aligned and has a lot of padding. Where can I find or edit this part? Please see screenshot below. Appreciate in advance any help for this. Thank you!
  6. A solid color background. JUST logo in center of the screen. Is this possible using Squarespace 7.1?
  7. Site URL: https://worksbyshaun.com/home-new Hello, I am reworking my home page and having significant issues with the page once you shrink it to less than 750 pixels wide, the entire homepage "explodes", the only way I can explain it. Graphics shift all over the page, nothing resembles what the page should look like layout wise. Please see the two screen grabs below. I do not believe that I am alone with issues like this and would greatly appreciate some direction on how I may resolve this... Thank you so much for your help. Website at 750px wide, as it should look... Broken/exploded website at 749 pixels wide...
  8. Hello, Yesterday I was tinkering with my website, and created new unlisted blank page. I was prompted with new tutorial tour for "Fluid Engine" it is really really sweet, but so far only that one blank page has this new option, if I create a new blank page or a section it resides to a "Default-layout engine", and there is no way to obtain new designing feature. Any clues why I am able to have this special treatment to a single page but not others? 😄 Here is the only resource I found online about the update - https://support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/6421525446541-Fluid-Engine-Squarespace-s-new-content-editing-experience#toc-identifying-fluid-engine Thanks!
  9. Site URL: https://www.mcpricemyers.com/about When we added our fourth brand partner we were not able to adjust the type to sit correctly. When on mobile, the formatting completely shifts. https://www.mcpricemyers.com/about It's almost as if I can only have 3 images with three formatting options. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Site URL: https://www.rochestertag.com/ So... I hate it — like, hate hate it, like can't use it without screaming curses... and I'm honestly confused as to why this isn't the dominant conversation topic in the SS community. Can anyone shed light on this? My experience: I've made oodles of sites in SS. I love(d) SS, and have been an enthusiastic evangelist. When I started my newest site, I found out that I'm required to use FluidEngine. I wasn't excited about this — it promised a learning curve that I didn't want to take on in a busy month — but, whatever. Gotta roll with the punches. My experience of FluidEngine so far has been nothing but woe. I have three questions for anyone who can share their experiences. 1. What's the benefit supposed to be, again? The primary benefit (to judge by all the videos I've watched on YouTube) is that now we can stack words on top of images. This is a neat feature that I do not need to use. So the primary improvement is, for me, no improvement. (Am I wrong about this? Is there another, better feature that FluidEngine is supposed to give us?) 2. Now it's more complicated to make a page, right? Even if I were really good at using Fluid Engine (and... maybe I will be, someday? maybe I'll stick with SS?... maybe?), it seems like it would still be significantly more work to make a simple page. I get the drift that the old philosophy of Squarespace ("Build it beautiful") was to limit the number of decisions we could make, to nudge our sites into elegance. (Wanted to complicate it? That's what CSS was for.) Now it feels like they've flipped the philosophy — we're forced to make tons of decisions just to put up something simple. (Am I wrong about this?) 3. It's hard to get the spacing to work on mobile, right? Like... REALLY hard, right? I loved — loved — how effortlessly my sites used to appear in mobile. There were times I had to wrestle with it, but they were rare, and only when I was trying to do something weird. But now — please, please tell me if you have a different experience — the spacing for mobile is really hard to work out! Like, IMPOSSIBLE to work out. I didn't trust my judgment of this until I saw this video by Will Myers. His solution (a code injection, some custom CSS, and some juggling) is ingenious — and should not be necessary to ensure a site looks good on a phone. (It's telling that, during his explanation, he struggles to make it work. Check out 7:20 — "This is something you need to be careful of, because I don't think Squarespace really likes you doing this, it wants to just force the extra space for some reason, I'm not really too sure why.") (God, am I wrong about this? Please tell me I'm wrong about this. Whenever I try to imagine the folks at Squarespace — who have up to now been such fastidious designers — saying, "ah, screw spacing, nobody cares about spacing!" my mind explodes.) Is anyone else being driven flipping insane by this? And does anyone know if there's a way to opt out of Fluid Design, even if for the near-term future?
  11. Site URL: https://mandolin-trumpet-8ajp.squarespace.com/history On many of the pages I'm working on, I've set the Fluid Engine layout for the desktop and mobile views. But when I view those pages on a phone in landscape view, there are huge spaces between blocks. It looks terrible, and there doesn't seem to be any way to fix it. The same is true when I resize my browser window to a narrow width (but not narrow enough to mimic a phone screen). This seems to be a bug in the Fluid Engine. Either there should be an editor mode for these intermediate screen sizes (between desktop and phone) or the layout should follow the mobile layout without the extra spaces.
  12. Site URL: https://www.adamamin.com.au/home/cost-house-clovelly I'm building a project page for my photography website. Using the grid: simple layout to show all the images, I find that it crops the images to conform to the aspect ratio. Is there an ability to add a white background instead so that the images can keep their aspect ratio? This is best explained in the website example below: https://derekswalwellprints.com/collections/outdistance Scroll to the bottom to find:
  13. Site URL: https://anxioussound.com/aoty-2021 Hello, I'm using the Foster template in Squarespace 7 and I'm trying to create a two-column layout where the left column is fixed (non-scrolling) and 100vh, and the right column is scrollable. I was able to get the layout I want in the editor by creating a new fixed code block and positioning it to the left of all other content (top image). The problem is, as I soon as I save the layout and leave the editing state, the content in the right column jumps to the left, overlapping with the fixed column (bottom image). Why does the layout change when I leave the editor? Is there something I'm overlooking in the code?
  14. Site URL: https://badger-tarpon-f38l.squarespace.com/config/pages I'd like to change the layout of the store page so that I'm able to have the product with info and buy button all in one column(please see screenshot) Any suggestions? Screenshot 2022-06-22 at 12.40.29- is the reference Screenshot 2022-06-22 at 14.30.58- is from my Squarespace account which I'm working on.
  15. Site URL: https://www.danielluxschwartz.com/store-1/p/style-01-hk8lf Hello guys, I just opened a shop for my website , it all went pretty good but at the bottom of page of each product of mine there are still "suggested" products images of squarespace ( a wallet and a pouch) + there is a paragraph says " MAKE IT STAND OUT" and a random 5 stars review. I can't delete them anywhere, they are not included in my photos or in the info regarding the prodcuts I have, I try to edit the section but I can't click and remove this images or paragraphs.. Any ideas what to do? See photos bellow:
  16. Hello everyone, I'm new to Squarespace, for the moment I'm doing some tests to see if Squarespace is the best solution for me. I have good skills in web dev (front-end) but by attacking the design of my new website I am facing the first problem and I would need your expert advice. My problem concerns margins and padding because I would like to make a full-width site with full-width sections. Basically, the template that you can see in the attachment was designed under bootstrap but I can't reproduce it with Squarespace. What do you think would be the best way to get a similar layout? Inject css? leave with template, if so which one? Thanks for your help.
  17. Please see Row Column Finder. From the read me. It is quite easy to get into a situation where blocks are not behaving the way you think they should. Some of those issues are a how you think they should work versus how they actually work. But one issue that is really hard to tell is nested blocks which are virtually undetectable visually. The following image shows two similar looking page sections. The target layout is a row with three evenly spaced columns of text. Although they appear to be similar visually. They are not structurally. With the Row Column Finder bookmarklet you begin to have a chance at detecting layout issues that may be making your blocks behave in unexpected ways or are difficult to work with using CSS or JavaScript. In the first page section we see the target layout as desired. The second page section does not meet our target layout. We have a row with two columns. The first row first column contains a row with two columns. Undesirable nesting! What is a bookmarket? Wikipedia has a nice entry on bookmarklet.
  18. Site URL: https://theanimaldays.com Hello, please could someone help? On site view, my title is next to the image, and on mobile view I want the image before the text, but no matter what I change it still appears below the text on mobile view. I'm guessing some css needs to be used, but unsure where to start?
  19. Site URL: https://bridgeexecutivecoaching.com Hi all, I have a client requesting the homepage hero/text look like the image she currently has on the homepage. I have discouraged her from finalizing and using that image as it isn't mobile, accessible, SEO friendly . I can get similar but not exact replicas using blocks. Is it possible to do what she is asking, if not, any tips for getting the content laid out as close as possible to what she is asking for? A screenshot of her image is attached as well. Thanks for your help everyone!
  20. Dear Community, I would like to change the styling of my product details page and have separate detail page styling for two different sections of my store. Is there any custom code workaround this request? At the moment if I change one layout it affects all products... Do I have to create a second "main shop"? Is this solvable with nesting the elements correctly? Any help is appreciated. 🙂 Thanks, Clem
