  1. So I've recently subscribed to Squarespace and have set up my website. However, it seems the cookies banner doesn't comply with GDPR, and even if I use the disable cookies option, this only includes 'non essential' cookies - so that doesn't comply with GDPR either. Is there a workaround, or are Squarespace websites unsuitable for EU/UK websites as it can't comply with GDPR rules?
  2. I am in the process of building my first Squarespace website with a personal abo. At the moment I am researching cookie banners to comply with GDPR. Did I get that right, that it is not possible to activate an external cookie banner with the personal Squarespace abo as it is not possible to add code to my Squarespace site? - for that I'd need the professional plan... That means, it's not possible to have a GDPR compliant Squarespace website with a personal abo, if I don't turn off cookies altogether?? I understood the the cookie banner, that Squarespace offers doesn't comply with GDPR.
  3. Site URL: https://smilodon-ocelot-my5f.squarespace.com/ Hi, Is it possible to change the cookie banner font (base) to match my sites font Montserrat?
  4. Site URL: https://www.bifolddoorstore.co.uk Hi One of my websites has suddenly started showing the following message at the top of the homepage Static.COOKIE_BANNER_CAPABLE=true Does anyone know how to remove this Thanks
  5. Site URL: https://www.ausliebezumhaustier.de Hi, i think a lot of people have the same challenge here with implementing GDPR or CCPA. Anybody with a good, working and cost-effective (or free) tool? I've tried Google https://fundingchoices.google.com/p/d2c40879b32a7b93/ (Free) Quantcast Choice https://www.quantcast.com/ (Free) Cookie First http://www.cookiefirst.com (Paid) Nothing is working for me (f.e. Outbrain is firing without consent on all three) Any suggestions? Any experience with Cookie Consent Cookie Control OneTrust Cookiebot Cookie Consent Kit Thanks Jan
  6. Site URL: https://www.midnattsbris.se Hi, We have started to use Cookiebot but when I paste the code in either header or footer it disables the "edit"-button inside Squarespace. Anyone that have experienced anything like that?
  7. Site URL: https://www.transitionzero.org/ Hi all, I've been struggling to set up website tracking, cookies and analytics in a way that is GDPR compliant and meets our organisation's marketing needs. Our website: https://www.transitionzero.org/ The Squarespace cookie banner isn't GDPR compliant, so I installed CookieYes. This seems to do a good job mostly but I've realised it does not block Sqaurepace Analytics before users give consent! CookieYes is only blocking third party cookies before consent. And because SS analytics is built into the website and not a code injection, I can't change the order to make CookieYes fire first, like I did with other scripts... First question: Is there a way to make CookieYes manage consent for Squaurespace analytics cookies? I know you can use the Squarespace cookie banner to only use analytics once users consent. But this isn't enough. Not only does it not allow them to manage their preferences, it doesn't block third-party cookies either. But if the third-party cookie consent solutions only do third-party cookies and don't touch the SS analytics cookies, then what are you supposed to do to cover everything?! 😞 I suppose another option is to disable Squarespace Analytics entirely. I do have another analytics which doesn't use cookies, Plausible Analytics (would recommend, it's great) so I could just disable SS analytics and rely purely on that. But I would much rather keep SS analytics as a backup, and to see historical data all the way back to our website launch, long before we had Plausible. Second question: What happens if you completely disable SS analytics? Do you keep the historical data up to that point? Do your forms stay working correctly? I'm a bit nervous to try it! PS. I really hope Squarespace up their game on privacy and GDPR compliance because this is a massive headache and a big downside to an otherwise great platform. Thanks in advance for your help!
  8. Has anybody seen this warning message when looking at their traffic Analytics? When I click on "Change" — the 2nd photo shows my current Cookie settings. What am I missing?
  9. Site URL: https://www.marcschmidtphotography.com Hi, I would love to change the opacity of my cookie banner to 80% but couldn't find any advice so far. Anyone out there who has an idea? Thanks, Marc
  10. Site URL: https://www.mentormeaus.com I've added custom code to style my Cookie Banner and centered the text, but I want to move the Accept and Decline button positions, specifically, the Decline button to the right, so it looks better. The code here isn't correct; I think I have the right property names, but my align directive is wrong?
  11. Site URL: https://www.diallekt.com I just installed a Cookies Banner on my website, and it seems to be appearing on every page on my website except for on my homepage. Can anyone help?
  12. Site URL: https://octopus-pentagon-c2h7.squarespace.com Hi all, Password : 1234 My cookie banner doesn't appear on all pages, especially on the home page. It works on the product page though. Could use your help. Many thanks.
  13. Site URL: https://www.voegelino.com/ Hi there I would like to change the colour of the textlinks in my cookie banner. I was able to do so, but the words Accept and Decline are still in white. How can I change them? (Also the underlining) https://www.voegelino.com/ PW: orneverornow Many thanks and kind regards Sibylle
  14. Site URL: https://www.buttercrumble.com/ Hi there, I was wondering whether someone may help? We currently use the CookieYes banner code injection on our website. This loads fine. However, it's preventing the navigation bar from loading. Once you've acknowledged the cookie notice, you have to refresh the page for the navigation to load. The following code has been injected into the header: <script id="cookieyes" type="text/javascript" src="https://cdn-cookieyes.com/client_data/706b4759760087a13c8d29f3/script.js"></script> Has anyone else experienced this challenge? Thanks in advance!
  15. Site URL: https://www.werkenbijhanze.nl Hi, I build SquareSpace websites, but am not a coding specialist (that's why we use SquareSpace :-). However I run into a problem: Our digital advertising partner is asking whether it is possible to add a GTM-code behind the cookie wall, saying it is now triggered before a user gives his/her consent. All I know is the option to inject code using the code injection option in Setting > Advanced > Code Injection. However, according to him, that triggers the Ads pixel before the consent. Any ideas (in layman's terms) how to solve this?
  16. I have a client who does not wish to enable cookies. I've always been taught that cookies are important for web functionality. Any thoughts on what I should suggest to her?
  17. Site URL: https://watermelon-sponge-6pkp.squarespace.com/ Can someone help me to invert the order of the cookie banner buttons? Opt-in = right and opt-out = left. thanks!
  18. Has anyone found a free or low-cost GDPR-compliance solution that works with a small Squarespace site, that is actually compliant with GDPR legal requirements? After spending the afternoon reading, it doesn't appear that the [cookie banner] GDPR solution that Squarespace makes available to its own customers is compliant. Interestingly, it is also not the one they use for their own corporate website(s). A cookie banner alone does not meet GDPR requirements. There must be valid, documented, reversible and renewable consent. Consent must be obtained prior to processing, and be transparent and customizable by the site visitor (i.e. necessary cookies, other cookies listed by type). Someone who gave consent must be able to revoke consent. "Documentation" means a secure consent repository/database so that we, as site operators, can provide proof that consent was obtained. The database needs to store a record of each user's consent, including how they consented, exactly what they consented to, and the date/time they gave their consent. Another issue is that a GDPR-compliant site's privacy policy needs to be transparent. Something as basic as the data collected on a Squarespace form - where and how is it stored and processed? If someone who submitted a form wants their data deleted - how does one do that? Since I am not an expert in GDPR, there may be other requirements that I missed. My "solution" for the past 3 years has been to turn off all cookies and explicitly state that the site is not intended for site visitors from the EU. This goes against the purpose of the website, and is not a satisfactory solution by any measure.
  19. Hi guys, I managed to reduce the width of my cookie banner, however it seems that the X icon is now misplaced, and it is too big and thick. I have searched high and low on how to change the thickness, size and alignment of the X icon. Would really appreciate your help on providing a CSS code that can do just that. I have circled the area with a yellow marker. Thank you very much~! Regards, Jackson
  20. Site URL: https://www.skaarmusic.no/ I'm working on a Cookie Consent (GDPR) project for a client adding the OneTrust cookie banner to sites. I've managed to restrict most cookies but struggling with some from youtube. The simplest method is to use https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/ for any embeds and that does the trick on embedded videos, but background videos are a problem. The following cookies appear without the visitor's consent: NID, IDE, YSE, VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE Looks like the cookies are coming from the iframe_api script which is used to create background videos: <script src="https://www.youtube.com/iframe_api" async=""></script> Removing the background video stops the cookies from dropping. This tutorial claims to solve the issue: https://portalzine.de/dev/api/youtube-iframe-api-and-cookieless-domain-solution-gdpr-dsgvo/ An alternative solution would be for me to edit the script tag with a OneTrust class to restrict it from running without consent. But I can't find any way of editing the YouTube API script used by Squarespace. Any ideas?
  21. Site URL: https://khaki-gerbil-cdd4.squarespace.com/ pass:modern84 Hi, I'm using a GDPR compliant cookie banner from CookieYes. However it blocks all scripts if you decline cookies or before you allow them- this includes scripts that load images- this makes my web page unusable... I want to configure CookieYes in a way that it blocks just Squarespaces' analytical cookies (names: ss_cvr and ss_cvt). But to do this I need a path/adress of the script that loads these cookies. Anyone knows them? Or maybe theres an easier way to work around this issue? Thank you for any advice! edit: CookieYes answered this question directly: Squarespace loads cookies and images- everything- via one script. The only way to be GDPR compliant is disabling analytics- what a pity...
  22. Is it possible to display the cookie banner to the users only in the first time they access our website? The cookie banner is an important feature but it affects negatively the website design and experience. Thanks in advance.
  23. Site URL: http://www.benpeers.com When I first used this custom CSS a few months ago, it worked like a dream: .sqs-cookie-banner-v2 p, { color: #666666 !important; font-family: "Chivo", sans-serif; font-size: 15px !important; font-style: normal; font-weight: 200; letter-spacing: .7px; line-height: 150%; } However, now the cookies banner font is ridiculously huge, and only when I actually go into the Custom CSS panel does it update to being the right size. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  24. Site URL: https://cpsfarmtoschool.com/ Our client requires that we use a third-party (OneTrust) for their cookie banner. After installing OneTrust code in the header, the banner displays correctly, however, we see several alerts in the dev console. Anyone know how to remedy these issues?
  25. Site URL: https://de.squarespace.com/ I have seen the new Squarespace Cookie Banner on the German Squarespace website. When will it be available for our customers? Finally it is possible to control Cookies without Cookiebot and Google Tag Manger. see screenshot
