  1. Site URL: https://www.etiennemellor.com/gallery-4 Hello, I would like to re-create the effect of the image below using CSS. Title in caps and underneath the Name. Any help would be appreciated. Right now I'm using this code: .gallery-caption p{color:white ; font-size:30px!important; font-family:"serif"!important;letter-spacing:.3pt!important;font-weight:100; font-style:normal;margin-left:3em!important} .gallery-caption {margin-top:-20%; opacity:0!important} .gallery-masonry-item:hover .gallery-caption {opacity:1!important; transition-duration:0s} Thank you so much 🙂
  2. Site URL: http://www.ericlendl.com Greetings. I want to keep my site free of text, as much as possible. For my portfolio pages, I don't want to include captions (just images), but when you click on the image, I'd like full artwork captions included (on the left or right-hand side [or bottom]) of the linked image. Basically need to include five lines worth of text (example below): John Doe This is My Art Title 2020 Acrylic on Space Shuttle 150 x 17 x 3" Is this doable? Does that even make sense? Effectively, just need artwork details included on the blow-up page. Thanks in advance for your help! e
  3. I use gallery photos to display a selection of grouped products on my shop homepage. I need to add a description to each photo so that the customer knows what the category is. But the sqauerspace captions are very ugly, in a small font, not able to centre-justify them or change their colour or anything. Is there any wa round this without changing the font for my entire website. Is there any way to make hover captions on gallery photos which work as click-through URLS?
  4. I have a gallery block with images of old ships and captions. The captions can't be formatted as is this isn't a feature yet. Is there a way to edit only one word in a caption to be in italics? (and to be able to do this with multiple images in the same gallery block?) Example: So and so traveled on the SS France in 1921. (Where only the word France would be in italics) I can imagine this being an issue for lots of academics and artists out there!
  5. Site URL: https://haddock-crocodile-e7d3.squarespace.com/ How can I make the caption text bigger in the Gallery Grid Strips block? My client wants the text bigger as it a feature on their home page and the current text is getting lost on the page. It's a shame that there aren't extra options in the pop up edit window such as text size or text in button etc? Many thanks in advance :0)
  6. Site URL: https://www.oxbowphoto.com/new-page Hi, I would like to show image captions only when I click an image and view it in the Lightbox. Right now, if I enable captions in the gallery settings it only shows descriptions below the image in gallery/grid view which isn't ideal. Does anyone know how to fix this with CSS? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  7. Site URL: https://deedsgetoutandvote.squarespace.com/art Hi Circle folks, Does anyone know why my attempt to replicate the on hover caption style for masonry galleries as on the homepage of this site: https://deedsgetoutandvote.squarespace.com/ Pwd: PACDeeds on this page: https://deedsgetoutandvote.squarespace.com/art isn't quite working? Here's the CSS which is basically just a clone of what I used for the gallery captions: // Gallery: Masonry block captions on hover .blog-masonry .blog-item-summary { position: absolute !important; top: 50%; left: 50%; transform: translate(-50%, -50%); width: 100%; text-align: center; opacity: 0; transition: all .3s ease; height: 100%; } .blog-masonry .masonry-ready .entry.is-loaded:hover .blog-masonry .blog-item-summary { cursor: pointer; opacity: 1; transition: all .3s ease; } .blog-masonry .masonry-ready .entry.is-loaded:hover img {opacity: .4;} .blog-masonry .blog-item-summary { display: flex; place-items: center; justify-content: center; } .blog-title {background-color: rgba(255,255,255,.8);} I'm using the entire .blog-item-summary in case I decide to show meta info as well, but for now I just want the titles to appear on hover as on the homepage gallery. In the Chrome inspector it looks like the .blog-item-summary is appearing where it's supposed to, however it and the blog-title are not visible. I suspect it's the order or some other aspect of flex I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! Martin
  8. Site URL: https://www.kennedydesign.nl/ Hi, I am hoping someone can help me out. I have used the Matsuna template for my design portfolio and I want to add captions and tekst about each image. How can I do this? I want to give context to the images. Thank you!
  9. Site URL: https://www.maartendelobel.com/ Hi, I want to change the fontsize of my captions underneath my pictures that's on a masonry gallery page. Squarespace doesn't support this, but may be somebody can provide me a CSS-code for it? Thank you.
  10. Site URL: https://www.houseofbliss.com/portals-gallery I'm using the "Avenue" template. On my page https://www.houseofbliss.com/portals-gallery, I have captions for each image in the grid. On the desktop, when I click on an image it opens a lightbox and the image captions are displayed. But on my phone, in the lightbox it shows each enlarged image, but where the captions should be there's a little white dot I have to click on to activate the caption. I didn't notice the dot for a while and I don't think a lot of other people would either. Is there a setting I can change to force the captions to always display in the mobile version?
  11. Site URL: https://chartreuse-earthworm-a73r.squarespace.com/breishisi Hi there, I am using the Avenue 7.0 template. There does not seem to be any way to change the way captions in the lightbox appear. They are white text over a black box upon hover. I would like the caption to appear in black below the image, not overlaid over it. Does anyone know how to do this? I saw some posts about CSS to change captions upon hover, but not in the lightbox... Thank you!
  12. Site URL: https://www.brownsteinpr.com/talent Does anyone know how to make the captions on an image in a gallery invisible? I want the text to be there for SEO purposes, but I don't want it visible. I know with image blocks you can make captions not visible. Any way to do this with galleries?
  13. Site URL: https://www.noahwoods.com/ I have a gallery on my site but would like the captions to show up in the Lightbox and not in the grid view. I don't see how I can do that. Any css overrides that I can use? Thank you.
  14. Site URL: https://dartmour-retrievers-draft2-km.squarespace.com/ Hi, I'm wondering how to change the size of the image captions on an image gallery layout in Squarespace 7.1 with custom code? The text size of the captions is really small, and I would like to make the default text size of the captions bigger if possible! Thanks K email: katherinemgr@gmail.com
  15. With CSS i have managed to move the caption in a gallery slide show on to the photo with a tinted background ( Tick) BUT the gallery section retains a white panel below the image. This creates an excessive gap to the next section. Any one? or @tuanphan you are a legend. Can this be removed with further code? Current code i have used is...
  16. Hi, I am working on a squarespace site for one of my clients. I need to make some small tweaks to the template. The template is "Montauk" 1. Product page - I want the "Additional Info" content to be moved under the product details, just above the dropdown menu. 2. I would like to be able to put captions on product images. Could I use image metadata, or alt text? I have coding knowledge, but not much experience with Squarespace. Is what I am asking for even possible withing the squarespace platform? Thanks for any help!
  17. My gallery captions show up over the image on bottom center on the desktop version, but there are no captions when you switch to the mobile version.
  18. I am using a Wells template and am trying to change the level of "boldness" of the image captions in my image galleries. What Custom CSS code snipets work? I managed to change the font weight for the image description but same code does not work for the image title. Font I am using is "LATO" .image-title { font-size: 17px; letter-spacing: 0.02em; font-weight: 400; "this does not work" } .image-desc p { font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400; "this works" }
  19. Site URL: https://wisteria-panda-z2eg.squarespace.com/sound-talent pw for the site is: rotorsound Dear All, Is there any way, to apply line breaks in captions such as gallery grid captions? This has been talked about in the past, but I couldn't find solutions for 7.1. In the example website, I would like to apply line breaks wherever I currently have commas. I would even go so far as to labeling them all by hand through code, as suggested by this code, that I found here in the forum: /* image 1 */ .sqs-gallery-block-grid .slide:nth-child(1) .image-slide-title:after { content: "Dinosaur line 2"; display: block; font-size: 13px; font-family: monospace; margin-top: -5px; } /* Image 2 */ .sqs-gallery-block-grid .slide:nth-child(2) .image-slide-title:after { content: "Banana 02"; display: block; font-size: 13px; font-family: monospace; margin-top: -5px; } However, this seems to have been written for 7.0. I cannot get it to work in 7.1. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Best, Tonmeister
  20. Signed up or squarespace because some of my colleagues use it and have really nice sites. (I'm a photographer.) One thing that my colleagues have that I can't seem to create is an option to provide a caption when you hover over an image in a gallery. I'm using the Minetta template, but I don't see it in any of the other templates either. I can make it so the caption appears under the photo, but....yuck. Any ideas?
  21. Hi, I'm using Matsuya template. Is there a way to add captions to images in a gallery? Thanks.
  22. I am using the Bedford template and I would like to change the "caption overlay on hover" feature so that the overlay covers the whole image, the whole image is clickable, and I can customize the colors of text and the overlay itself. The default "caption overlay on hover" style is a small transparent gray bar that overlays the very bottom of the image. I searched everywhere for a cohesive snippet of custom CSS code, and while there are several partial answers, I have yet to see something that covers all of my wish list. I'll keep tinkering and report back!
  23. Site URL: http://www.macneill.photography I'm using Wexley to host my photography site. Photographers' biggest problem with SEO is the relative lack of copy/text for Google to bite on. So images titles or captions are essential IMHO. But I'd prefer if they were hidden (and only visible with 'hover over' in the lightbox). So my question is this: Will hiding the caption effect my SEO? Thanks.
  24. Site URL: https://cello-seahorse-fw8x.squarespace.com/config/ I am setting up our art gallery's website and when using a gallery grid, or any grid, I cannot create a caption. When I click to manage the gallery images it offers the "add a description" but there is no save button and when I click back on it it's gone. In addition, unlike adding an images section there is no option to place a caption under the image. I'm only using gallery grid for the convenience of creating rows that are aligned and formatted. Also, adding images using an images section gives me the option to use the "Dark Overlay" theme for lightbox, I prefer this but I don't have that option with gallery grid, on a desktop once an image is clicked the background bleeds through a white translucent lightbox which doesn't look good. Click on artist page Agapito Labios as an example of my issues. Compare that with the Bob Franklin page (alphabetized by first name under Featured Artists) which is how I prefer (captions and dark overlay lightbox) it but it's much harder to align and format this way because I have to add individual images and resizing them is a pain because when I shrink one image the other gets larger as a result etc. I did get custom code to reduce the space between images and captions as seen in the Bob Franklin page and that helped. If possible I need both captions and the ability to have the dark overlay theme for lightbox. Thanks! Password to view: TXsouth61
  25. Site URL: https://www.chapelgatewhiskey.com/experience Would anyone be able to tell me if there is a setting or an easy bit of code that can be applied sitewide that will change the image block caption font to be the same as the font on the rest of the site? Thanks!
