  1. Site URL: https://leslie-alexander.net/musings Good day all I would like to write a series of blogs that contain professional vocabulary, define the same and offer audible pronunciation. As if I was to look up a word in a dictionary (e.g., https://www.merriam-webster.com/medical/alterative). Can I do this and how? I can imbed a link to a page which contains the pronunciation, as above ~ but I'd prefer to keep my reader on my page. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  2. Site URL: https://www.sitbelove.org/audio-meditations Hi all, So im creating a page to house audio and using the audio block [for now]. Id like to add a custom image that creates a 'card' like effect with the audio player beneath. This looks fine on desktop, but on mobile, all the images end up at the bottom and not paired with their audio file. Ive tried to manually adjust in mobile view by drag and drop but this is not working well. Any code that i could add to create this effect? Or is there a better way to arrange the blocks on the desktop view so that they behave in the way im looking for? Thanks for your help! password: buddha
  3. I'm building a site for a client who is selling mp3 and midi files, and I'd like to allow their customers to "audition" the clip before buying. I want them to listen to a 30 second sample - so I want to preselect part of the file that they can listen to on the product page. Any tips for how to achieve this? I realize I can do it the hard way by building and uploading separate mp3 files that are just the 30 second bits, but it would be nice to just do it on squarespace.
  4. Site URL: https://www.philpaluch.com/ Hey, was wondering if someone can help me with a little bug that seems to happen on my site after I used some custom css on my new portfolio page. It's still WIP but I want to reach out to more people with it, so any help would be greatly appreciated. The play and stop button both appear when I visit my website in a separate tab. Please see the code below: // header navigation .header-nav-item a:hover { color: #3164c4 !important;} div.header-nav-item a { transition: all 0.5s !important;} .header-title-text a:hover { color: #f8e9be !important;} div.header-title-text a { transition: all 1s !important;} .header-actions-action.header-actions-action--social a:hover svg { fill: #3164c4 !important;} div.header-actions-action.header-actions-action--social svg { transition: all 0.5s !important;} // footer navigation footer.sections .html-block a:hover span {color: #3164c4 !important; transition: all 0.5s !important;} // custom audio player .sqs-widgets-audio-player { box-shadow: 2px 5px 15px rgba(0,0,0,0.2);background:linear-gradient(to right, #051338,#f8e9be,#fff)!important; border-radius: 35px!important} .sqs-widgets-audio-player .title-wrapper .title, .sqs-widgets-audio-player .artistName {color: #fff!important} .sqs-widgets-audio-player .time {color: #051338!important} .sqs-widgets-audio-player .action .play-button {border-left-color: #fff!important} .sqs-widgets-audio-player .action .pause {border-color: #fff!important} // phone @media only screen and (max-width: 640px) { .sqs-block-image { width: 80%; margin: 0 auto; }} @media only screen and (max-width: 640px) { footer.sections .sqs-block-image { width: 20%; margin: 0 auto; }} Thanks so much! 6. Hello Squarespace community! I am new at web designing and am not experienced with coding. I am searching for a way to incorporate a sound effect on an image click. My client wanted a keyhole image that you click on to access the specific page it is directed at. I created the keyhole buttons by using a duplicate image set up as an image gallery. I have a 0:02 second WAV file that I am trying to figure out how to add it to each image so that a sound effect of a key unlocking a door will sound when the image is clicked. Is this possible for me to do...with no knowledge of coding? I reached out to someone I know for help (they also helped with the coding for centering the image title), but they are not familiar with this and said it will require javascript... If anyone knows of a code that would work or have some simple steps that I can follow along with, that would be so great! Thank you in advance for any and all help provided!
  7. Site URL: https://lynx-sunflower-g3m2.squarespace.com/ Hi, I'm looking to place a little icon next to my name on my portfolio, that upon clicking it plays the pronunciation of my name. I'm not opposed to using an emoji for the imagery if that makes it easier, but would really love using an icon that's inline with the text instead. Website: https://lynx-sunflower-g3m2.squarespace.com/ Password: csshelp Thanks!!
  8. Site URL: https://virginsuncare.com I am trying to get my background video to play with sound on Squarespace Version 7.1. Is there any code to interject somewhere that will allow this? The sounds comes through perfectly when using just a Video Block but it doesn't come through at all when embedding the video into the background. I would really appreciate any guidance here. Thank you!
  9. Site URL: https://www.cheftimony.com/episodes Hi There, I've reached out for help via Squarespace on this issue, but because I'm entering code into a code block, they can't help. Here's what's happening: When I post a new episode blog the podcast script posts a-okay to the correct post. A week later we go to post a new episode/post, add the code block with the new podcast audio script, and that's when it gets shady. For some reason, the podcast audio, and just the podcast audio, image and copy on the post stay as it should, gets bumped back to the previous post from the week before. So basically in a nutshell....all the podcasts episodes audio are all off by one blog/episode post, which is obviously not intended. haha If you go to our episode page: https://www.cheftimony.com/episodes and go to each post, you can see that the incorrect podcast is posting for that particular post. I've also attached an image. We're using the podcast player called fusebox. It specifically says to take the script, copy it, and paste it into a code block, and all is good. Squarespace suggested that it may be an issue on Fusebox's end... Also an FYI, we are hosting the podcasts on blubrry, which then gets updated into Fusebox, and then we take that code and place it into squarespace. Could this be the issue? (My client set this up, so I'm not sure if it's the most efficient way to go about this...) Any help or explanation would be amazing, as we're pulling our hair out trying to figure out what is going on. Thanks so much!
  10. HI! I'm a building a site for a podcast. My goal is to enable listening to audio and reading a text at the same time, therefore I need to make my audio player move with the scrolling of the page. I have seen a couple of codes like this : #id { position: fixed; bottom: 0; right: 0; z-index: 999; } But nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? Thank you!
  11. Site URL: https://npmusic.me/home/studio Is there a way to have just the cover art with a play button in the middle? I'm trying to avoid any Spotify links. This is want I want to accomplish. Thanks
  12. Site URL: http://freshsalt.org Hello, I'm trying to customise the audio player's conditional display of the duration of the clip (progress / time), so that the timecode is immediately & always visible. The default code, currently, reveals the duration only when playing begins. So there's that (first issue), and also wondering about player width cutting off the timecode (second issue). Screen captures from my site, which is still quite rough! www.freshsalt.org First issue: two examples below, left is timecode visible when playing, right is timecode hidden. Second issue: here's a row of narrower blocks & the timecode isn't revealed at all, even when playing (second from left). And would fit in all except for longer title in far right. So how to reduce minimum width of player, or left margin of timecode, or similar? Would really love anyone's help. I've spent hours muddling through Chrome's Developer Tools & various coding basics videos, trying to work it out, no idea. Was hopeful tinkering in realm of .sqs-audio-player.play-state-stopped .duration,.sqs-audio-player.play-state-stopped .progress — but nope. Very grateful!
  13. Site URL: https://www.indianclassicalmusic.com/glossary I have a glossary page on our website that has around hundred words on it. Each word is an html of the form <h4 id="TheWord">The Word <a href="javascript:sayGlossaryTerm('theword')"> <i class="fas fa-volume-up"></i> <!-- this is a font awesome speaker icon. The href javascript gets the audio element by id and calls .play() on it. The js function is in the page header settings. --> </a> </h4> <audio id="theword"> <source src="/s/TheWord.m4a" > <!-- this file is uploaded in square space link editor. --> </audio> <p>The meaning of The Word.</p> For a long html page should I be creating a single html block for all the content on the page, in this case the above html a hundred times or should I be creating an independent html code block for each word? Another side effect of this editing this html is that whenever I edit the audio file name. There's some trigger on the keypress that loads all the 100 audio files (They are all short 2 second files) and gives a 429 error. Please advise. Thanks.
  14. Hi everyone, I'm trying to add a squarespace audio block instead of the button under each image on my gallery slider. Is there any way to do this? Screenshot attached. Alternatively, I have a non gallery section that looks the same, but I have no way of making it a slider. Let me know if you can help! Kam
  15. Site URL: https://hooksandhighs.com I've set up a squarespace site for a customer that has a Podcast. In the first iteration I just added the audio blocks directly on the home page but for SEO and because the customer wants to support rss feeds I had to create a blog on /episodes where the customer adds new episodes as blog posts. In order to display the episodes on the home page I use a summary block but I can't find a way to display the audio player directly on the home page. How can this be achieved? Having users click on the link to navigate to the blog post detail page is not an option. I am very disappointed that even though there are multiple posts in this forum about this missing functionality, still nobody from the squarespace team has provided a solution to any of the people having this issue. Also I can't believe that squarespace pours millions in advertising but fails to deliver the most basic functionalities that the community is asking for
  16. Site URL: https://banjo-recorder-36fe.squarespace.com Hi there. I would like to prevent audio blocks from playing on a new window while on mobile, version 7.1. Is there any way to do it across the website on Custom CSS or Code Injection? Kind regards, Miguel
  17. Hello, I am attempting to change the code for my Audio Blocks in the Fiver template to match my site colors (I use the audio blocks to post episodes of a podcast.) I was able to change the background color of the main bar and the color of the tile font but can not seem to change the author text color, play button or progress bar (one trick was to realize the title font was set for the LIGHT setting, not the DARK setting of Audio block). Was hoping for some suggestions. Here's the code I've been using and thank you in advance Tim. .sqs-widgets-audio-player { background: #2f518f !important; background: -webkit-linear-gradient( #2f518f) !important; border: 02px solid #fff952 !important; border-radius: 0px 0px 0px 0px; color: #fff952; } .audio-author { color: #fff952 !important; } .audio-title { color: #fff952 !important; } .volume .bar.active { border-right-color: #fff952 !important; } .volume .bar { border-right-color: #fff952 !important; } .progress { background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #707070 !important; } .controls { color: #fff952 !important; }
  18. Site URL: http://sheisava.com Hi! I am building my website to lease my beats. To do so, I would need each beat (aka product) to be formatted exactly like the second image, with each audio file being its own individual product link (making it easier for customers to scroll through my music while it also looking concise). Anyone know how to do this? I appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you. (I include the site url but please bear in mind I am still building it so it's private for now)

  20. Hi there, Does anyone know of a way to capture clicks/listens to an audio block? Is there a capability within Squarespace for this? I know there isn't for podcast tracking but I'm wondering if a capture for just a regular audio block is possible. Thank you!
  21. Hi All, I'm creating a slideshow and want to have an audio block (or similar) on each slide to go with the image description. Is there a way to do this? It doesn't seem like you can even have a code block on any of the gallery options... Thanks all.
  22. Hi. I'm looking into setting up a new site, which would in part be a hub for episodes of a radio show. The episodes are long and contain multiple artists, so we're using Mixcloud to host the audio as it deals with licensing (most other platforms will block uploads). I'm curious about what methods people are using to embed Mixcloud episodes/ mixes on Squarespace sites. I have an existing site on a Squarespace 'Personal Plan' which I can test stuff on. So far, what I've got working is the simple method of using an Embed block and pasting the URL of the Mixcloud episode. It doesn't look desperately elegant, but it seems to function (both on desktop and Android phone). Screenshot attached to show what the player looks like using this method. Mixcloud has it's own widget which is customizable on the Mixcloud side, and looks a bit nicer - however it uses iFrames, and what Squarespace support have told me is that a Business Plan is required to make this work on a Squarespace site. However, testing the embed of the Mixcloud widget just now on my site (again, this is a Personal Plan) it seems to work fine. I'm a bit confused since Squarespace just told me iframe is NOT support on a Personal Plan, so why is it working on mine currently? I'm trying to figure out the best way of doing this, and to verify a method which will work solidly on a Personal Plan and look decent. I don't want to find out down the line that I need to upgrade to a Business Plan with the extra cost attached to that, if you see what I mean. Any thoughts / info appreciated!
  23. Site URL: https://www.rheinproduktiv.de/whatwedo Hey guys, I'm looking for a solution to play individual sound clips (2-3sec) when hover over text/words. Is there any possibility to realize it in Squarespace? Thanks so much and take care
  24. Site URL: https://www.hammerheadaudio.com/ Hi, I'm currently updating my artist portfolio site, and I'd like to embed the NPR review for a performance I did on the page for the performance. I've previously used the embed block successfully with soundcloud, but it doesn't seem to work with NPR. Any idea how I can make this work? Here is the page with the shoutout: https://www.npr.org/2020/12/05/943454072/austin-musicians-compose-musical-piece-played-inside-a-dumpster-to-commemorate-2 Here is what I get when I copy the embed information for the radio spot: <iframe src="https://www.npr.org/player/embed/943454072/943454073" width="100%" height="290" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" title="NPR embedded audio player"></iframe> Here is what happens when I try to embed the spot:
  25. Site URL: https://www.kulturedgroundz.com/podcast-episodes-1 I recently switched my podcast from a hosting site to my website. I've tried my best to follow the steps that Squarespace provides but of course something went wrong. So after redirecting my RSS Feed I created a blog post, added audio blocks for each of my podcast episodes but when i check the rss feed validator none of my episodes pop up on all platforms including Apple. I know Ive done something wrong as this is a tedious operation. Can someone, anyone help me with this? https://www.kulturedgroundz.com/podcast-episodes-1?format=rss I have 59 episodes that are all on my webstie but not on Apple, Spotify etc.
