  1. Site URL: https://www.stevemarais.com Hello smart people of Squarespace :) I'm a photographer, I have a simple website that I love. However, I recently did a google search on my name and was horrified to discover that my site is nowhere to be seen. https://www.stevemarais.com I followed the Squarespace SEO guides and made a few tweaks as best I could without compromising the simplicity of my site, but so far nothing has changed. Thing is, I used to rank no.1 for many years. I'm baffled. I'd hate to move back to a wordpress based site (it would probably be simple enough to recreate) because I love the simplicity and functionality of Squarespace, but if my site is unsearchable I might be left with no choice. Any help, advice or guidance will be absolutely appreciated! What can I do? Many thanks! Merci!!! Steve
  2. Site URL: https://www.thefavoriteco.com/ Hi there, I keep finding 100% bounce rate in GA on my site - but when I click the URL it goes to here: https://www.thefavoriteco.com// Has anyone had this issue in SS? My site URL is https://www.thefavoriteco.com - and i'm not sure how to fix this. I want my GA data to be cleaner. Thanks!
  3. As you can tell from the images attached, the "shop" link which is part of the secondary navigation doesn't show up on google search as a sitelink at all. I know you can't control/customize sitelinks, but are there any workarounds that I can do to add "shop" as a link to the search result? Should I add a link to the primary nav and then hide it in css? If so how do I isolate and hide only one header link, and still have the rest be centered on the page?
  4. Hi, I often code websites with custom coded images, because let's be real - the default image box gives you little control for mobile appearance. eg. www.nicolson.co / www.boxedstorage.com.au My process is this: highlight some text add link upload file get the file map "/s/filename.jpg" create a code block add the src as "/s/filename.jpg" then add my styles I was wondering if there is a better way to coding in images than this? I noticed on SEO lookup tool Google may be penalising me for the millisecond redirect between /s/ and /static1.... image location. It would be great if Square had a media manager where you can drop files and link them, along with better control of image properties for mobile. A simple width function even! Thanks
  5. Site URL: https://www.sustainhealth.fit Can anyone please please help as it seems to be a common question that no one does have an answer to. My page speed insights are coming back pretty bad and this is in part to the following. Too many fonts being applied by SS when I'm only using two; so ideally I need to remove the unused fonts as they're using around 1mb and hugely impacting page speed. Ensure text remains visible during webfont load And Google Ad code is also slowing down the page significantly; is there anyway of hiding this code deeper so as not to add penalty, I've noticed when searching competitors page speed there ad code isn't impacting their site. Thank you.
  6. Site URL: http://www.wearehkers.com Hello, I have a blog and am thinking about moving to 7.1 from my current 7.0 site because the blog pages have more creative control. However, please can you tell me how this will affect my SEO? Will my analytics start from scratch for each blog post and the website? I know this is essentially building a new website from scratch as there is no migrate button currently, so does that mean I lose all my data from my site and the SEO I've build with it along the way? Is there some way to export the blog and import it back in to 7.1?
  7. Site URL: https://www.vamicreations.com Hello all, I have a question regarding the Markdown blocks and adding the nofollow coding. I've done the coding that others here have recommended multiples times (my entire site (https://www.vamicreations.com) is filled with these and I have never had an issue with them till now). About a week ago, every time I started either changing something small (even deleting a space or adding one) in a markdown block of already posted articles or even creating a new post and using the same exact code for the nofollow affiliate links, all nofollow links show to <a data-preserve-html-node="true" href= link and the rest of the code from other nofollow links...I am stumped as I have talked with Squarespace help who has checked coding and everything on their end and not found anything wrong - i.e. it renders fine for them, even on my site. On my end, I have cleared any browsers I have used of caches, cookies, and history, restarted my computer, restarted the router, re-cleared all browsers on my computer, tried the iPad and my computer again and it's still doing the same thing. Thoughts on what else I could do to fix this? I have not been able to do updates for over a week now or post new articles with anything markdown because of this and would greatly appreciate any assistance. πŸ™‚ Thank you and looking forward to hearing thoughts on what I can do to fix this. Michele
  8. Hi Everyone I build and maintain Squarespace site for my clients and I use SEMRUSH (https://www.semrush.com/) to keep track of SEO activity. Does anyone else use SEMRUSH? I would like to compare notes on a few things. Cheers Damian
  9. Site URL: https://www.cuttoclamp.com/ Hi, On behalf of a client I manage and update two websites which are part of the same large business. One is built in SS and one through a custom CMS. Due to the similar nature of the audiences there are times when the same content (blog articles) needs to be added to both sites. The custom CMS for the other website has the functionality for me to add canonical references, however in doing so the SS site becomes the original source for every duplicate article shared. My question - can I edit canonical references within squarespace to allow the other site to become the original source for some of this content? Can it be edited for individual blog articles? Many thanks Rosie
  10. Site URL: https://www.michellereneebernard.com/gallery-paintings I just switched my paintings gallery from a "Gallery" page fed by a "Portfolio" I set up... to a "Work" page that allows clickthroughs to individual pages for each of my paintings. I had wanted to add the extra information about size, pricing, and more detailed descriptions that the Gallery/Portfolio setup did not allow for. However, I don't see anywhere in this new Work setup where I can add tags for each of the individual images on their independent pages. In the Gallery setup, the Portfolio that it populates pictures from had an option for each image where I could add tags. So I'm wondering if there's any way to add tags to my individual page images in the new Work setup? And if not, well... that's disappointing, but... then is there a way to add more lines in the Gallery/Portfolio setup? I believe anything I typed in (even if I hit the return button), would only show up as one long sentence. OLD WAY: Gallery/Portfolio: https://www.michellereneebernard.com/gallery-original-paintings NEW WAY: Work + Individual Pages: https://www.michellereneebernard.com/gallery-paintings Please keep in mind I'm a total tech dummy when answering. Thanks so much!

  12. Hi there, I have a website that isn't live yet. The current content includes a block of information that would be helpful for SEO with a title and list of 6 tips. However, I can't figure out exactly what to put into the Code Block section so each header contains the <li> code to ensure Google can read the header and the items correctly as a structured list? I have managed to isolate the block code as a first step. Any help is much appreciated!
  13. Site URL: https://servantleadership.ca Hello all! I'm about to start a new website project for an existing client. We have their current website built on Squarespace and the new one will be on Squarespace as well. All of the content is changing so we were going to start a brand new site in Squarespace. We were thinking this through as they have made some great moment with their SEO and get hits from all over the world - they recently landed jobs with Canadian Tire (Massive Canadian retailer) and Vodaphone in Egypt! They are concerned that with this brand new website they will lose some of that SEO. I should also mention we will be changing the domain from servantleadership.ca to servantleadershipacademy.com as their audience and customer base is now global. Should we be starting from scratch or should I build their new website with their current Squarespace plan? I'm hesitant as I just hate working in the preview mode and hate leaving public pages half baked as we work through a project. Or does any of this matter? Will we be losing our SEO gains by switching domains and having all new content anyway? I'm open to any and all feedback! Thank you! Matty @makewell
  14. Site URL: https://www.twofourseven.co.uk Hoping somebody can help. I moved my site to Squarespace a few years back. I've been spending some time cleaning it up with a new theme developed for it. Blog posts is most of the content on my site. I have used Moz to run a crawl of the site and it has come up with a number of key issues, namely 'Missing or Invalid H1' and 'Missing Description'. I have a feeling that this is affecting my SERP. I can't seem to see how I can fix the issues and add H1 to and include the meta descriptions. Is this a Squarespace issue? Any suggestions to how to fix these issues? Thanks!
  15. Site URL: https://theelectricshower.co.uk/ I need to use Klaviyo for my mailing listing in preference to Mailchimp. Unfortunately, they are not included yet so I am having to go through Zapier, a 3rd party integrator. Because Squarespace won't allow you to disable double opt-in, and Klaviyo will simplest allow me to with a paid account, the integration fails. Has anybody had any good fortune with this problem? I don't need to pay $20/month for Klaviyo when I still have less than 2 hundred subscribers. I get the verify subscription electronic mail from Squarespace, but not one from Klaviyo. My check e-mail never seems on my Klaviyo mailing list. Very irritating.
  16. Site URL: https://www.walkingforhealthandfitness.com In Goolge Search Console I get this error message on a graph: 48 poor URLs. This began 3/30. I had no idea until I typed my website address into Google Search and a blogpost from the site appeared but not the home page. What is the problem? How do I fix it See attachment...Notice the problem doesn't appear in mobile. Thanks, Frank
  17. Site URL: https://www.juergenhofmann.com/naturfotografie Hi lovely people! I made a gallery page for my nature photography to add tags, categories, etc. (this page is deactivated and hidden in search engines). Same gallery is linked on the following page which is activated and shown in search engines: https://www.juergenhofmann.com/naturfotografie So my question is, since the original gallery page is deactivated / hidden, are the SEO improvements (tags, categories, alt-texts, etc.) still recognized by google, or do I have to have my original gallery page also set as active / shown for the SEO improvements to be recognized? Thanks a lot for the help!
  18. Site URL: http://www.eye4designavl.com Hi, so I am working on this website and using a template that allows for large background images. I setup the entire site to pretty much have background images. I designed the site normally with image blocks, text blocks, buttons, etc. - Just like any other. Now that I am done I am now curious on how SEO works with the all the text being over top these background images. Does this effect SEO and bots from reading sites. Graphically/Visually I made the image contrast we the text for the viewer, but I am curious if this scores bad and that I should not be doing this and keeping all text to white background. Does anyone know any details on what I'm trying to figure out? The site is eye4designavl.com Thank you!
  19. Site URL: https://www.nikkidinkicooking.com/blog/creamy-spicy-corn-dip.html On my client's website we are using a custom code block to insert a very nice looking recipe card on blog post page. The HTML of the recipe card uses the Recipe Schema so that Google displays an appropriate recipe card on search results. We are also using Rating Widget to display star ratings to users. We are struggling with getting the star rating on the google search result recipe card though. Since the Rating Widget is a third-party Javascript snippet, we need to capture that rating after the page and widget has loaded. We thus have to use an application/ld+json script tag with all the recipe data, which we append after the page has loaded. When using Google's Rich Results Testing Tool (https://search.google.com/test/rich-results), we can see that it accurately captures the Recipe data and the rating. However, on actual search results the rating still does not coming through. For example, use this link to see the Rich Results of a particular page: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nikkidinkicooking.com%2Fblog%2Fcreamy-spicy-corn-dip.html&user_agent=1 If you preview the result, you can view the recipe card with a rating on it. Disclaimer: on the rich results testing tool it does say, "This is a beta version. Not all rich results and error types are supported yet." Has anyone had any success displaying ratings on Google search results? What was your implementation?
  20. Site URL: https://tugrulyildirim.com Hello, I am happy to announce that I will start to sell my php website script in my own website. Next week you will be able to buy seo frindly, responsive, cheap websites.
  21. Site URL: https://www.birthdaysdocumentary.com/gallery Hi everyone! I am trying to improve my SEO, so in order to put the best keywords on my gallery images, I wouldn't want them to show. So, I disabled the "show title and description" for every single image. Would that still help search engines discover my images? Or, does it have to SHOW the description and title so as to get picked up by search engines? I'd love to hear from you based on your experience!
  22. I am novice to SEO: I think I read in the Squarespace Help Guide that I should add tags to: Finder > File > Get Info > Add Tags... So that once the tags are in that box will be then automatically used by Squarespace and Search Engines? Is that correct or I just dreamed about itβ€½
  23. Site URL: https://www.beverlysiu.com I have 2 problems which I think are related: 1. Google indexed my squarespace free domain for my site (ray-hibiscus-856y), which is odd because my site has been up on beverlysiu.com for more than a year through squarespace and was working correctly previously. 2. SEO ranking has fallen dramatically. My site used to be the #1 result so I know it was working before. Both the wrong url getting indexed and the SEO issues were noticed at the same time. I tried requesting the google search console clear their cache but my request was denied. My only theory for why it might be failing is because I changed my template and my site now uses an index page for the home page, which afterwards I learned can hurt SEO ranking if one doesn't tell search engines not to index sub-pages (Squarespace why would you recommend this in your templates if you knew this would happen?!). My index page was empty though so that couldn't have been my problem. I've since done everything I could to optimize my SEO rankings (social images, meta descriptions, meta titles) but I'm still very low on google search and not even with my correct domain. What is wrong and how can I fix it?

  25. Site URL: http://www.breatheportugal.com I searched for my project on Google and found out it is displaying the wrong sitelinks. Instead of showing the main pages (like the ones on my top nav), it is showing two links, (one of which is just a page that belongs to an index) and they are even unavailable. I know we cannot control what's being displayed as a sitelink, but do you have any thoughts on how we could prevent this from happening? I thought of hiding from search engines all the pages and just keep visible the indexes that contain them. What do you think? Thank you
