  1. Hey all! I'm running into some issues with the native in-site search Squarespace offers. I know there's options to hide blog categories, tags or entire blog pages from Google search. Is there a way to hide specific pages, category/tag pages or anything from the native in-site search? I've got a couple separate use cases... I have an old blog that needs to stay up because of some legacy tie-ins. I can't disable. I have it hidden from search engines, but the content still shows up in the in-site search and I don't want it to. I have a few specific tags for some blog items... one is "deer-elk" because I want them sorted together when displayed in a summary block. However, now when you search for "elk", ALL of the items tagged "deer-elk" show up even if they only have deer content. I'm really just trying to clean up my search results and keep 'em all relevant.
  2. I'm trying to add a Search Block to the header of this site: craftingyourpath.com The template has a default search function in the header that can be enabled, but from what I know, search results cannot be filtered unless a Search Block is being used. With that said, does anyone know how I can replace the template's search feature as a Search Block?
  3. How can I modify the page header to remove the search icon and make the navigation menu accessible to WCAG 2.0 standards? I'm building a website for a research lab associated with a University and we need to make sure the site meets WCAG 2.0 standards. These two elements of the page are not compliant but I'm not seeing any way to modify them. Are these issues known to squarespace and are they on your development plan to address? If so, what is the expected timeline for that? Thanks! Jill
  4. Hello, I need two search bars for my website, one that searches my entire site and another one that just searches the help pages. I know Collection Pages can be searched separately from the whole website, but unfortunately none of the Collection Pages on offer are suitable to create a help section. My help section has hundreds of pages of content and I need to be able to produce a search bar that is limited to searching just these pages. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Does anybody know how to custom style the search block box dropdown list in CSS? I would like to change: 1. font 2. background color 3. thumbnail size Thanks.
  6. There's no alt text or other label associated with the search icon, so screen reader software (I tested with NVDA) announces it as 'button'. Can anyone please help me figure out how to add in alt text - or similar, I'm open to other options - so that screen reader users can find and use the search tool on my site? (I want to avoid using one of the search style options that adds the word search on the screen - it not only dwarfs the rest of our navigation, but search appears to be placeholder text, so that wouldn't really resolve the screen reader issue.)
  7. I know that you can limit the search bar to only search in 1 blog collection, but I want search to pull from multiple collections. Is that possible?
  8. Hi there, I'm running a property website and I was wondering if there was any way to have an advanced search bar. for example, this website has a great search bar:https://www.onthemarket.com Thanks!
  9. Hello, Is there a way to configure Squarespace's site-wide search (internal, not search engine) so that a visitor does not see results from selected pages that I wish to exclude? These would most likely include normal pages that are inside of an index page or folder. I know I can use a search block on a page and direct it to search a specific collection, but instead wish to use the header search from Brine to search many pages of the site. Thanks for any help!
  10. Hi there, I'm looking to have a search bar (essentially like the search block you can add when editing a page) added to the header. I dislike the search icon with this template, as it takes the user to a whole new page, versus being able to search quickly from the homepage. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to get around this or a code to use to change this feature? Thank you for your time!
  11. Hi --Google produced a search result that linked to a page from the back end (content management system) of my Squarespace site. To be clear, the search result did not link to the normal ".com" URL, but rather to the Squarespace-generated random URL that appears when making updates to the site. -- What is going on here? -- How is Google crawling & accessing the CMS? -- Is unpublished content also vulnerable to prying Google eyes? Many thanks,Sam
  12. Hello Guys, I have seen a lot of posts on this subject, today I will show you how to add a search lens in the navigation bar (in the header) in Squarespace 7 using the tutorial made by the Squarespace Guru for Squarespace 6, that you can find here This is how it looks like: You will need to follow these steps: 1) Retrieve the search address for your Squarespace site, every Squarespace site has one. • If you have a custom domain it will be as follows: www.yourdomain.com/search • If you do not have a custom domain linked to your site, it will be as follows: www.yourusername.squarespace.com/search 2) Add in the Code Injection, in the header section the following code in Settings >> Advanced >> Code Injection >> Header: <link href="//maxcdn.bootstrapcdn.com/font-awesome/4.1.0/css/font-awesome.min.css" rel="stylesheet"> This video shows you how to do it: 3) Add a link under the main navigation and name it the following: <i class=" fa fa-search"></i> Here is the video that shows you how to do it in Squarespace 7: As a note, it might take a few minutes for the lens icon to display. 13. Hey all, So for the expert SEO people, I have a question. I feel like I tick the boxes when it comes to a SEO checklist when i write and post my travel blogs. However, on my google search words I have a heap of impressions on 1 blog (https://www.aussieoutbound.com/blog/how-to-get-to-trolltunga-trolls-tongue) and i can see my ranking on google and what page I'm on etc. As for my other more popular blogs that get traffic from direct sources where its been shared and posted (https://www.aussieoutbound.com/blog/iceland-ring-road-itinerary),I have no impressions or stats on google search words. So my question is, why does my google search words stats only have stats showing up from only 1 blog? Am i missing something. Its just strange that all the search words and phrases are coming from 1 blog.Any help at all to get some of my blogs visible would be fab :) Thanks
  14. Hi everyone. I am working on a site with a dark background using a template from the brine template familiy, and for some silly reason the input text colour for search, contact forms and shopping cart quantity is all linked to the body text colour of my site. Not a problem if you have a white background, but you see how this could be an issue is your body text colour needs to be white!! I used the below code to fix the cart quantity, and selected lightbox mode for my contact form as a temporary workaround, but I'm having trouble adapting the code for the Squarespace built-in Search page. show-cart .quantity input { color: #000000; } Any help with the code I need to enter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Luke
  15. How can I add a Search Block to the top of the site, in or near the header? Thanks.
  16. The Instagram block is great for pulling images from your personal account. But I'd like a way to aggregate photos from multiple users around a specific hashtag. This is a great way for getting a good sense of an event, in real-time.
