  1. Hi, My client expressed concern migrating contacts into Squarespace (or any newsletter provider or CRM for that matter). Honestly, I never considered that using Squarespace to store emails on a list could be a privacy concern. The client currently uses Gmail to send newsletters to their list, and seems pretty adamant that no one can have their contacts. Can anyone offer insight into this situation? I looked up privacy policy stuff for Squarespace and found one official document, but very little explaining how it compares to other services. I don't know much about this stuff so it feels like reading Greek! Thanks, Lily
  2. Site URL: https://ttohc.com Hi There, I just updated my domain's DNS records to point to my new Squarespace site. Everything is green in the DNS Settings in Squarespace. But when I navigate to the site, I'm getting a message saying "Your connection is not private". Site URL: ttohc.com Screenshots below. Thanks!
  3. Has anyone found a free or low-cost GDPR-compliance solution that works with a small Squarespace site, that is actually compliant with GDPR legal requirements? After spending the afternoon reading, it doesn't appear that the [cookie banner] GDPR solution that Squarespace makes available to its own customers is compliant. Interestingly, it is also not the one they use for their own corporate website(s). A cookie banner alone does not meet GDPR requirements. There must be valid, documented, reversible and renewable consent. Consent must be obtained prior to processing, and be transparent and customizable by the site visitor (i.e. necessary cookies, other cookies listed by type). Someone who gave consent must be able to revoke consent. "Documentation" means a secure consent repository/database so that we, as site operators, can provide proof that consent was obtained. The database needs to store a record of each user's consent, including how they consented, exactly what they consented to, and the date/time they gave their consent. Another issue is that a GDPR-compliant site's privacy policy needs to be transparent. Something as basic as the data collected on a Squarespace form - where and how is it stored and processed? If someone who submitted a form wants their data deleted - how does one do that? Since I am not an expert in GDPR, there may be other requirements that I missed. My "solution" for the past 3 years has been to turn off all cookies and explicitly state that the site is not intended for site visitors from the EU. This goes against the purpose of the website, and is not a satisfactory solution by any measure.

  5. Hello, Just came across this issue - trying to embed video into a banner - getting the error as per screen grab attached: Template - Ethan. All requirements adhered to - as in: Privacy settings set to Anyone and allow embedding Anywhere, or Hide this video from Vimeo.com and allow embedding Only on sites I choose. Would very much appreciate some tips!
  6. Hello, Does anyone have experience adding a non-Google captcha for block form submission? Recaptcha seems, like everything Google, to be a privacy nightmare and would prefer not to force my clients to engage with them if possible. Thanks!
  7. Site URL: https://www.skunk.co.nz Hey guys, I have just pointed my domain at our new website and now we are getting "Your connection is not private" now displaying on our website whenever someone clicks on it. How on earth do I get rid of this? Need help urgently!! Many thanks!!
  8. Hi, in order to be fully compliant with GDPR, I need to have the font in my own server instead of retrieving it from Google Fonts or Adobe. Otherwise Google and Adobe can store information from my visitors, which is not GDPR-compliant. However, I am not finding a way to accomplish this. I have already uploaded the font file I want to use via Design > Custom CSS. Let’s call this font "customized font". This customized font is overriding the default font given in the Squarespace settings. So adding a customized font to my own server is OK. The problem is that when the page is loaded, even if the customized font is the one used for all the texts, the default font is also downloaded. That means Google and Adobe can store information from my visitors anyway, which is not GDPR-compliant. I have already contacted the customer support via Chat, but unfortunately they were not very helpful and only referred to the this link (that gives me an error when I try to open it) or suggested to ask in the forum. Is there any way to block the default fonts, so only the customized font is downloaded? Or a way to choose a default font that is not from a third-party? Does anybody know a GDPR-compliant work-around for this?
  9. Hi All, Is there a way to control the font size of the terms and conditions, privacy policy and copyright line? And make it smaller than the rest of the copy in the footer? Future big ol' thank you for anyone who can solve this!
  10. It seems that when I view the pages of my site, all of the pages are built referencing fbml. Are all Squarespace pages built this way, or is this a choice someone in the organization made at some point? The creator of the theme? As far as I know, the people that built this site used only the basic Squarespace tools. How much information is Facebook hoovering?
  11. Site URL: https://www.revelpurification.com Hi gurus, i always got this whenever i visit my website, any idea how to remove this? ( attached image)
  12. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has used www.termsfeed.com to generate their cookie/privacy,terms and conditions policy. Are they worth the cost? Would appreciate your opinion. Thanks.
  13. Site URL: https://www.inaboldmove.com/ Hello, All the blog posts on our page has the "We value your privacy" pop-up and it has so many buttons that it is confusing people who visit our website. Does anyone know how to turn this off or simplify it? Thank you!
  14. I've currently drafting/creating a Cookie Banner for GDPR reasons, and was wondering if it's possible to add an 'X' button to close/ignore the pop up should users not wish to give consent? I can't seem to find any other style adjustments for this purpose. You can see from the screen shot that I'm trying to use the Cookies banner to allow the website user to give consent to analytic cookies + data collected via contact forms, where analytic data is turned off by default, but it would be helpful if there was a 'close banner' button if users did not want to give this type of consent and to 'hide' the banner, so to speak. I realise this is somewhat of a work around instead of using a third party app/code to create a more detailed GDPR banner, but nonetheless I was wondering if this was possible, and/or if anyone had any other genius solutions/examples that have worked for them. Any advice would be super helpful and much appreciated :) Thanks in advance J.
