  1. Hi I have recently migrated from Shopify to SquareSpace and I am writing this post to start a conversation about the whys and hows of this failure. If there is a direct import option, one would think that a script will reformat the CSV file to be acceptable. This is not the case. I contacted customer support and they answer was " we do not control what Shopify does", this is just an unacceptable answer. If there is an option advertised to work, we, the customers, expect it to work. The least that can happen is to post a message saying the third party service has changed things as we are working on it. I have spent days trying to figure this out to no avail. To newcomers, this will have to be done manually by changing the column headers in your Shopify exported CSV and deleting the remainder. I hope I am wrong, this is why I am starting a conversation here.
  2. Site URL: https://pharaohsdreammuseum.com So I wanted to import reviews from my etsy shop to add to my shop page. I was able to download the data and it came in JSON file. However, trying to import this into Squarepace has proven to be a nightmare. Does anyone know how to do this??
  3. I've loaded some products into Squarespace and did a download of the products I loaded into an excel spreadsheet. It seems to be missing data for "Additional info". Has anyone else run into this? I see all of the other data fields I need except for this one. "Additional info" has it's own tab in between "Pricing & Varients" and "Form".
  4. had a CLEAN list of 1400 emails and Squarespace import wouldn't allow it. I split into smaller lists of 333 each and IT WORKED! hope this helps yoU!
  5. Is there a way to search imported images? If not, that would be a FANTASTIC feature to add
  6. It's been a while since I had a US client with Commerce needs. Do folks know if it's still the case that you have to manually set up each and every single state and local tax rate? No ability to bulk upload, and no integration with some kind of central spreadsheet that sets it up for you? I heard some murmurings that TaxJar or another extension would do this but I can't seem to see any info about that.

    CSV variants

Hi all, I have over 1000 products that I have managed to import, however, I am struggling with the product variants. When I upload, the variants seem to import into the product but it doesn't create individual entries, I can do this manually on separate line entries but this would take me forever and I need to import my live file every day. Any ideas on how I fix this, please?
  8. Hi there, Having fun with Squarespace 7.1 for the first time. Is there a way to generate a number of unique discount codes in batch? It is important for us to generate unique discount codes for our members. Creating them one by one is looooooooooong. So we're looking for a way to generate them in batches, and ideally export them from Squarespace for easier distribution. Alternatively, we're open to import coupons if this is also possible. Patrick
  9. Site URL: http://www.nico-young.squarespace.com Can anyone help me with this? I reached the max amount of pages on my Squarespace 5 site, so I have to migrate to squarespace 7. This should be a painless process though, due to the import feature. However, I've been trying over and over to use the import feature to import my Squarespace 5 site to my Squarespace 7 site, but the import keeps failing. I enter in the site url, then the password as it asks. but it always fails. It seems like I'm doing everything right, yet it always fails. I would really appreciate some help, thank you!
  10. Site URL: https://orange-raspberry-7c66.squarespace.com Hi! When I go to import from a V5 site, I do not get what is shown in the instructions. The only options are WordPress, Tumblr, and Blogger; but I need V5. Any advice on this? Thanks, -Devan
  11. So I got the importing worked out and I want to add a ton more products to a store. I exported a CSV, added another product as a test, and imported the new CSV and got the following error: "Missing column Add PRODUCT ID column" So I go to check the CSV and it's right there as the first column. I'm baffled by this one. How can I solve this? I have a ton more to add to my store.

  13. Hello there! I've been working on doing a migration of several years worth of content into a squarespace blog, and have pretty much figured out how to do a really simple import. That said, I'm wondering if there is any way to import blog posts into a custom content type in Squarespace? I've dug through the documentation and can't find any references to this. Thanks!
  14. Site URL: http://www.shapelyevents.com/shop Hello, please help! again. I am to switch my site from squarespace 7.0 to 7.1. In that I realize that I have to start from scratch. I'm starting with my store and i'm trying to get my inventory from one site to another using the csv sheet as recommended. I exported it from my current live squarespace store. I HAVE NOT EDITED IT. LEFT IT AS IS! When i try to import it on the new platform, 7.1, i'm getting an error message and nothing is changing. I would hat to have to manually add all these items. I dont understand why there's an error if I havent changed anything. Things to note: - I am still in my trial period. I haven't made the site live as yet being that I wanted to build it then launch it when I can swap it out with the current one. Is this a factor? because I'm also getting a pop up telling me that certain features are only available in a commerce plan but I would think I could be able to build out my store using the imported csv before I launch it. I've attached photos of my process and what I'm getting. Someone...anyone...please help.
  15. Hi everyone. I have a question about product importing on a new site. I have a client who is sitting on a bespoke CMS for his online business and has been left in the lurch by his previous developer. I've recommended he migrates to a better supported platform that can be managed and maintained by him or any Squarespace developer. However, he has 100's of products that would need to be migrated. I've managed to get in to the MySQL database where his products are listed and assume I can export that as a CSV. I also see that I can Import a CSV to an existing product page in Squarespace. If that product Page is blank, can I simply import the exported CSV. I'm assuming I would need to change the column headings of the exported CSV to match the Squarespace headings. But what if there were blank fields, such as SKU. If anyone has any advice on this or has experience of doing similar it would be great to hear from you. I appreciate I don't think images come over as part of any import do that may need to be manual. Thanks in advance.
  16. Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster :). I have a client managing her content on SS, but her ecommerce functions on Cratejoy. Now that SS has subscription options, I've convinced her to move her whole platform to SS, just for the simple reason of being able to manage everything in one place. (Her retention rates aren't great, largely due to having to manage customer accounts on cratejoy's platform, rather than her own) Anyway, I've only just found out that we can't migrate her customer database into the customers section of her site. However, her current payment processor is Stripe through Cratejoy, where all of her customer data is stored as well. My question is, if we connect her already existing Stripe account, will the customer data integrate? Will subscribers need to re-subscribe to the products? Or can we do that on the backend? It seems rather silly that I can't just easily make this switch with a simple import function. Will I need to individually create new customer accounts from the front end of the site? If I do that will the customer accounts integrate properly with the existing Stripe data? Any/all advice here would be great. I hate that my client is paying so much money every month to Cratejoy when SS is such a great option for everything she's doing.
  17. Since I cannot find any answers online I will ask here. I am exporting blog posts from one squarespace 7 site and trying to import them into another squarespace 7 site. I am using the wordpress import and export xml file, and it keeps failing. The one time it worked, instead of importing the blog posts, it imported all of the pages from the site, which I thought wasnt even possible. anyway, I need to simple just import the blog posts. any thoughts? I keep getting this error. Thanks β€” WORDPRESS Import complete. Status: Failed β€” The import has failed. β€” com.squarespace.v6.business.content.exceptions.InvalidContentItemException: urlId cannot be null: 9DXR4ELWSH3NLRACA2AM β€” Importing data from WORDPRESS.

  20. I'm working through some gnarly product imports and want edto share this formula I came up with. It's nothing complicated, but it was useful to me. This formula, where 'A2' is the cell containing a product title, strips out special characters in the title, replacing them with hyphens, and makes the whole thing lowercase. In this case, I'm replacing spaces, commas, and forward slashes. Finally, it replaces two consecutive hyphens with one, should that happen. All of the nesting makes it look like nonsense, but that's really all it's doing. =IF(ISBLANK(A2),"",LOWER(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(A2," ","-"),",",""),"/","-"),"--","-"))) In one case where a clothing store client has the product's brand name as a tag and not in the Title, I created one of the above for the Tags field value and then concatenated it with the title URL string. That way the product page URL would contain the brand, hopefully improving SEO. This formula will work in Excel, Google Sheets, and Numbers.
  21. I realize I should have posted to coding I think, my issue is: Hi, I am stuck with a blog I imported where my client has entered in posts from a trip, where Day 1 is the oldest post and Day 264 is the most recent. I want the user to be able to click through, starting at Day 1 then Next to Day 2 etc … so the opposite of how the functionality works. I have seem some questions through searching but no answers. Please help! Using a Brine template. Thank you!!
  22. Hi I'm trying to do batch editing of my inventory but I can't import anything. "The file product_import-v1.csv does not appear to be a supported file." No matter what I do, I get the same error. I use OpenOffice Calc to edit it so I thought maybe it's modifying the file in some way that makes it invalid, but I've ruled that out because I can't even import the sample csv template immediately after downloading it. Like, I click "download csv template" then click "upload squarespace csv" and put the same file back in and it gives me the error.
  23. Hello guys, did someone had issue with imported products? When I want to add them in summary field they are named imported products. I have tried to see where I can change that name. I see that those products are in the folder /imported-products/ and when I can't change that. Thank you
  24. I was wondering if anyone can share some ideas on how to successfully migrate a large website from Squarespace to WordPress? Steps I've already taken. I've downloaded the XML file from Squarespace I've installed the WordPress Importer Plugin I've imported the XML file into my local dev WordPress install I've installed the Import External Images Plugin The issue I'm having is that the WordPress Importer Plugin fails to download some images from the XML file. Also the Import External Images Plugin is not able to recognize some of the images from the Squarespace XML file. The pictures show but are hotlinked to Squarespace which means once I upload to production environment and cancel the squarespace account, the images will be broken. What I'm trying to accomplish is to get all the images properly uploaded to my local dev site and then migrate to production site. I've Googled this question with no good solution so far. Any Ideas? Thanks
  25. I'm really lost for what to do here, and this is happening with several examples of email lists in csv format. I am trying to import a CSV of email signups that were people who came directly to a landing page and entered their information in order to receive ticket presale notifications. All of the emails are valid (I even recognize a handful of them) and are 100% voluntary signups of people who engage with our business. Additionally, there are a few I am importing from venues we work with. They are lists on which people opted into marketing communications. As for the quality of these email addresses, they MUST be real and valid and properly formatted - these are emails the customer used to receive order confirmations and tickets in order to attend an event. So in all of these cases, I get that error message, which is making me entirely regret migrating from MailChimp to SquareSpace for this part of our business. I get that spam and quality of email lists are a thing, I just can't think of a better example than voluntary signups by people who are clearly real individuals? I need a rather urgent resolution on this or else I will have to go back to MailChimp, so any help is appreciated!
