  1. Hi have tried looking to see if there is a code already mentioned that i can use but can't see a response to help with my query. I am on version 7.1 and have set up a grid-masonry galley with landscape and portrait format images with inset width. I would like to reduce the width further but cannot find a way to do that. I am also having problems with the portrait format images appearing very large vertically with the whole image being higher than the screen size. This means only 2/3rds of the portrait image is visible at one time and you need to scroll down to see the bottom 1/3rd of the image (see attached photo of example). The html code for one of the portrait images from inspect is as below: <img data-src="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5df7b9c2c15c2c1fc90f169e/5e0641c31aa65222ba975ea6/5e064206e2b52a3155f25a0b/1577574232104/okyiva_120101_5586.jpg" data-image="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5df7b9c2c15c2c1fc90f169e/5e0641c31aa65222ba975ea6/5e064206e2b52a3155f25a0b/1577574232104/okyiva_120101_5586.jpg" data-image-dimensions="1667x2500" data-image-focal-point="0.5,0.5" alt="Elmina Castle, Elmina" data-load="false" style="width: 502px; height: 752px; object-position: 50% 50%; object-fit: cover;" data-parent-ratio="0.7" class="" data-image-resolution="2500w" src="https://static1.squarespace.com/static/5df7b9c2c15c2c1fc90f169e/5e0641c31aa65222ba975ea6/5e064206e2b52a3155f25a0b/1577574232104/okyiva_120101_5586.jpg?format=2500w" id="yui_3_17_2_1_1577661569410_1336"> Any suggestions on how i can control both the width (of landscape photos) and height of the portrait images? thanks in advance
  2. Site URL: https://almar-demo.squarespace.com/ Hi, I'm new to squarespace and am frustrated there is no indication I can find anywhere for an image size. I am using the template Almar and simply want to know what PPI dimensions are for the background image. Every image I try is resized no matter what I've tried. Is there somewhere I can find out how to save the image dimensions as so my images don't resize or change ??? (i.e. save your images as 1500X990 here) or whatever the dimensions are, nowhere to be found.... so annoyed. I watched all the stupid demo videos and there is nothing about simply replacing images in the same size format. I'm using photoshop and illustrator to create my own images. Finding this super annoying. Thx in advance
  3. I am at wit's end trying to find the answer to a seemingly basic question. Someone please help. What are best practices to make sure the homepage background image is working with the text and buttons imposed on top? For example, let's say I want to have the homepage background a house with a sky and mountain backdrop. The house is the hero of the image and I want to control the text and buttons to not cover the house and instead be where the sky is. As it stands, the best I can think of is to use photoshop to tediously trial and error the position of the house within the image (e.g. at the very bottom with a disproportionate amount of sky). The trial and error does not work. Squarespace will maddeningly reformat the layout of the image so the outcome is not what you had imagine when in photoshop. Based on how they reformat the layout I then make more tweaks in photoshop to compensate for the seemingly arbitrary adjustments Squarespace made. But to no avail. What am I doing wrong??? This is such a basic yet super critical part of the website and it blows my mind that Squarespace - who prides themselves on aesthetic - didn't elaborate on one of the most important pieces of visual real estate. Am I not finding the right guide? Someone please help me.
  4. Site URL: http://www.alijohnsonwellness.com Hi! I am really stuck with something. I am trying to get the main image on my homepage to not shrink when it's on mobile--the font becomes very hard to read on mobile and I'm not sure what to do. Any coding I can implement for this? Any help is SUPER appreciated!!!
  5. Site URL: https://www.themarcuschung.com/ hello, is there a way to not let my image by stretched so far wide to the corners of the screen? Is it the behavior of the "native" template?
  6. Hello! I'm trying to get the slideshow gallery block to display the portrait images that fit within the screen or a certain size (ie 50% or 70%) instead of displaying them full height / width because it's too long and extends beyond the screen. When I mix portrait and landscape images in the gallery, it seems the portrait ones will get cut off. I've added spacer blocks to the left and right of the slideshow block to adjust the width of the gallery block - I'm not sure if this is the best way to tackle it. Currently using Carson for my theme. my portrait image size is 1000 x 1500px and landscape is 2551 x 1500px The screenshots include kinda has one gallery too small and the other too big. 1. How can i get the portrait images to display correctly without being cut off when landscape images are in the same gallery? 2. If I were only using portrait images, how can I make the gallery display the image within my screen - even though I've uploaded a larger sized file? PS: the site is not live yet, I'm hoping to fix it so I can go live - https://plum-aqua-pyrf.squarespace.com/, password: 123 Many thanks! Noel
  7. Site URL: https://www.bellchem.com Good Morning, I am attempting to add a custom button in my footer via an image, but I add the image and it looks fine when viewing on the desktop, but when I look at it on mobile, it blows up the size of the image to fit the width of the screen. How do I get it to remain small like on the desktop site? Thanks, everyone!
  8. Site URL: https://www.glintcompany.com/technology Hello, I'd like to resize images I have in one my sections, but only in the mobile version. From desktop everything is fine, but as you can see from the attachement on mobile they are too big. Does anyone know how I can resize them and make them smaller? Thanks,
  9. This is a quick question that anyone in the know can answer for me. Im building a site and want to get the details right. I will be using landscape and portrait images. I read that a maximum size of any image should be 2500px. Does this mean the longest length of the image, or relevant only to the width of any image? (which is what the help page seems to indicate, but seems logically just wrong) thanks in advance
  10. Site URL: https://www.winkeyewear.com/new-events The Sonora template's events page list view shows thumbnail images that are too large for our taste. Can we make them smaller with custom css?
  11. Site URL: http://www.timkongart.com/ So ive been using the inbuilt gallery for my website ( I just signed up) and been having issues with the gallery, most of these images are ok as long as they're landscape in orientation, however, once they go into portrait it somewhat forces the image to fit inside the gallery frame. Its faar to small and I was wondering is it possible to view the image in full screen or at least allow for a zoom function? Honestly i migrated over to this website to mitigate the same issue from weebly and i distinctively remember there was a zoom function before, if this feature is now removed then it makes the move onto here completely pointless. Also i noticed if you untick 'lightbox' and try click on the images nothing happens. Is this like a beta build or something? Also I tried modifying the values in 'design' and it does absolutely nothing.
  12. My photos are uploading very slowly, if at all! Is it a storage issue? If so, how can I monitor the space my content is taking up? I'm a photographer and will be uploading hundreds of photos in the years to come, how can I format my photos to make sure I don't slow down my website?
  13. Hi there, How can I make my image banner mobile friendly? Is there any code to make my banner fits perfectly on mobile devices without affecting the desktop version? Please help. Regards, Roland
  14. Is there any way to zoom our or change the position of a photo in a cover page without custom CSS? I'm using the Flash cover page template and my photo is cut off. This seems to happen no matter what photo I use. I have tried resizing the photo (and may have just not resized it to be smaller/bigger enough). I have also tried other photos, and they all have this same issue. There is no option to use the Focal Point parameter, like similar questions suggest (e.g. here), and custom CSS (like this thread suggests) requires paying additional monthly fees which frankly I'm not motivated to do. I've tried to create my own cover page from scratch, but again having a front page that looks different than the other pages (i.e. no banner nav, etc) requires custom CSS and thus a higher tier plan. Looking for a hack to get this to work.
  15. My image is not auto sizig in Brine. What are the exact image dimensions required for the main banner in Brine? I feel like I am going mad as nothing is sizing at 1550px wide or 2500px wide as the support articles state is the correct sizing. Please help me. thanks x
