  1. Hi guys, I'm trying to get the mobile view of a summary block to appear differently to the desktop view, for a blog site I'm working on. In short, I want to display the summary block as a standard 'List' view on desktop, and as a standard 'Grid' view on mobile. If I go with 'List', it's perfect for desktop, but on mobile, the thumbnail is very small. If I go with 'Grid', it's perfect on mobile, but the image is very large on desktop. Is there some element of CSS you know of that will force the view depending on the device? - mobile is grid, desktop is list on attachments Thanks in advance!
  2. I'm trying to set the background color for an index page to be #AA1E2E but it keeps reverting to #a81f2f I've tried converting it to different formats such as HSL, but it keeps switching back after I enter it in the color picker and close it out. Can I not do this color? Currently I'm hardcoding it with CSS, but it is an annoying issue.
  3. I wrote code to turn the "contact" link of my website into a colored button, and it works during the editing process, but the moment I save, it removes all of the changes that I've made. Here is the code that I've used, .Header-nav.Header-nav--secondary a.Header-nav-item:last-of-type { background-color: #900020; padding: 10px 20px; border-radius: 3px; border-bottom: 1px solid #900020; color: white; } .Header-nav.Header-nav--secondary a.Header-nav-item:last-of-type:hover { background-color: #900020; } It's supposed to look like the photo I"ve enclosed, but it ends up only being white. Can someone figure out what's going on? I'm on the brine-template If you want to visit the website, its robertchinnfoundation.squarespace.org and the password is open

  7. Hi Everyone, I was wondering if it was somehow possible to use custom CSS to change the "Gallery Page Design" from "slideshow" to "grid" when it's being viewed on a mobile device? My issue specifically is that I really like the slideshow design when on a PC but, when a slideshow is viewed on a mobile device, it is small and somewhat awkward looking. An example of this may be viewed with this link:https://deardavid.photos/2018-italy-photography/2018-cinque-terre-italy-rocky-beach Anyway help or information on this would be greatly appreciated and thank you very much! Hope everyone has a great rest of your day! --Chris
  8. Hi All, Im using horizon template on my site - it is a single page scrolling site and I would like to set each page height to match the viewport-height so that when a user starts scrolling it immediately goes to the next page and so that you cannot see the page below if you click a nav link - the problem is that, in the current version of the template, if you do not have either content or spacers that are larger than your current viewport then the next page down bleeds into he bottom of the page. In order to work around this you have to use spacers and decide where you draw the line - the higher viewport resolution you target the more spacers you need which means when the site is viewed on mobile you have large empty paces below the content in each section because the spacers do not disappear on mobile. If I was hand coding the site I would set the main div for each page to match the viewport height unless the content exceeds it. like so http://stanhub.com/how-to-make-div-element-100-height-of-browser-window-using-css-only/ Problem is I dont know the ID's to target in squarespace ... anyone tried this before? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hello, I was wondering if there was a way to add a Read More button to a section of a website. Every time I look this question up it's always to add a Read More button for a blog. I'm not talking about a blog, it's a website for a restaurant and they have a really long "About" Section and it's making the page very long so I wanted to add a Read More button. If anyone has any idea how to do this, please let me know. Thank you!

  12. I am starting to build my second site on Squarespace and am using the "Jones" template. I do everything including resizing my image. Why is it so enlarged? How do I make it appear normal? The dimensions were changed to 286 x 1000 pixels wide and as you can see it is too large. Also attached is the image that I want to have as the banner.
  13. Hi, I have an issue which I am sure is very easy to fix, however I could not find any info on the forum so far and after trying some code injection did not get any result either. Here is my problem:adding a banner image to a section is automatically changing the colour and style of my text and newsletter blocks within this section: I don't want that. How can I prevent this from happening or at least correct it. Please find some screenshots below: On the one hand, you can see on the upper screenshot that: - [markdown] is blue - [newsletter] title is black - [newsletter] button is blue On the other hand, on the below screenshot you can see that: - [markdown] is blue (but only because I modified the code inside the [markdown], otherwise it would become white) - [newsletter] title becomes white - [newsletter] button becomes white So far I did not succeed fixing that problem. Any help would be much appreciated please :) Thanks in advance, Thibaud
  14. Hello I'm trying to target one image title to give it a semi-transparent background so that it's more readable. Annoyingly, image titles have yui temporary ids but not permanent block yui ids.The class is just 'image-title' but obviously if I do that it targets all image titles on the pageThere's no custom css box per image and no custom id field so I'm at a loss what to do. Thanks!

  18. Dear all, I've received a pro-tip from Paul (@Paul2009 ) that for some features I'm looking at I should have a look at two templates (link to original question). When I'm viewing such a template demo (at link:flatiron-demo ) it gives me the option to create a website from this template. But rather that it adds the template to my current site it installs as new site with two weeks trial period. How can I achieve that the template is added to my current website? Unfortunately I cannot find the flatiron or avenue template in the list of possible templates within my current website. any ideas on that? thank you in advance! christian

  20. So, I am not a web designer but I've created 2 websites using Weebly once before and Wordpress. Recently, I've gotten a client wanting me to build a website for her catering company. I want to do this for her because I need the money and I know how to use the drag and drop system. It's easy and fun to me. I was wondering If there would be any problem doing so and If I would need to contract this out? I also needed to know if I should become a REAL web designer first before I do service like this?

  23. Howdy, I'm trying to help my brother move his restaurant's website from Wordpress over to Squarespace. Does anyone know of a theme that would mimic the original site? It's pretty basic, but it does have custom image frames (with constantly changing images). And when you press the Menu button, the different menu buttons appear for you to select (which brings you to that menu's page). The site is: cindyseaglerock.com I took some things out on the Wordpress side, so that's why there's an empty circle and the spacing is off on the Catering and Bakery buttons. Thanks in advance
  24. The theme I'm using (Ishimoto) doesn't offer the option to justify text. Is there an HTML or CSS code I can use to justify text within blocks? If so, how do I use it? This would really help me out. This question has been asked before but the wrong answer has been given each time. I am not asking for what works on other sites. I am asking for what works on SquareSpace hosted sites. Kudos for correct answers, not just responses in general.
