  1. One of the things that disappoints us about Squarespace is the inability to do 3 equal column layouts with images if you need space on the sides. Sometimes you don't want giant images and saving images with a ton of whitespace canvas is just kinda silly and looks bad on mobile. Seems every other web platform has kept up with the demands of responsive layouts. Maybe others are using this hack (or a better one), but posting this in case anyone else is struggling. So to center three images... Create a BLANK page section with MANAGE SECTIONS. Remember the name of this section for CSS in Step 4. Add your three equal size height and width images (like client / customer logos with same pixel dimensions.) Go to Custom CSS and add this code... #yoursectionname {margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block; width: 75%;}Adjust the width to wider or more narrow. Works like a charm for us. Hope this helps.

When you visit my shop page in jewelllery section, the page background is white, then my logo and navigation is no longer visible. How can I change this just for one single page, as im on 7.1 the colour themes end up changing on all website. I have highlighted below on what I mean. Thanks any help is greatly appreciated! 3. Site URL: http://bradleystearn.co.uk/ I'm struggling to find a way to remove the negative/blank space on the mobile view of my website. Viewing on desktop the design is how I would like it, swithcing to a mobile view you'll see a lot of negative white space between my header, and the image slideshow. I've been hunting around the design section of the edit menu, but cannot find a way to remove this space, which doesn't affect the design of the desktop version. http://bradleystearn.co.uk/ Thank you
  4. How do I change the drop down menu colour background to light grey on my homestartpage without changing the whole background to grey? I talked to a squarespace worker that said it had to be coded. Also where do I insert it? Best regards Maria
  5. Hi Squarespace, Is it possible to build a website where users can create a profile (with different functionalities) to offer a specific service to others and other users can search them on this website by point of distance? With kind regards ;)
  6. Site URL: https://magenta-tunny-l2rb.squarespace.com Is it possible to use moving video as a background on one of my site pages where I'm using the Tremont 7.0 template. It would be for a Non-Indexed page. If so, how do I make it the background, then layer images and/or text over it? Thanks --

  9. Hi! I am trying to set up a website that will perform as essentially the face of the business/service, as well as allow me to market, and provide access to info on my business. The business is nestled in health, as it is technically physical therapy. However, i will be using dolphins to treat humans. (dolphin assisted therapy). So i am looking for good ideas to provide exposure for this kind of business to the public ... while keeping it professional, yet exciting, as its outside the box most definitely! I am new to square space and would love all advice i can get. Thank you in advance. Crystal

  13. I'm a freelance designer/developer who's still learning some of the ropes. I'm fairly experienced with Wordpress (but still have lots to learn there too!) but am currently working with a client to redesign their Squarespace site. I've learned that unlike with Wordpress or Drupal, there's no support to create a staging site in Squarespace to make major changes without changing (and potentially breaking) the live site. From browsing this forum, I know I'm not the only one who finds that frustrating. Anyway: my client has an existing Squarespace site, and they want a thoroughly redesigned site, also in Squarespace. They'll need a new template, of course, but also some new content (I'm working with them to create some new landing pages), and a completely reorganized navigation structure. Given that, and given Squarespace's limitations for developers, my question is: does it make more sense / is it more of a best practice to: (a) develop the new template design using a different trial site and/or the local development server (which I've played with a little bit), duplicating or creating new individual pages, and then, when it's time to go live, putting a cover page up and doing everything else on the live site while it's down? (like what's described here: https://answers.squarespace.com/questions/67379/how-can-i-redesign-a-clients-site-without-going-live.html) I'm concerned this would put my client's live site down for a while, so I can test everything * with their content * and get their feedback. And it just... feels scary, and kind of insane, compared to how I'd do it in WP, you know? OR, (b) clone all their content, e.g. using the imperfect-but-doable export to WP > export back from WP to SS workaround, developing the redesign on the clone site, and then, when it's time to go live, switching the client's domain to point to the live site? This mostly seems like the safer option, and this is where I'm leaning, but I'm worried I'll end up spending a lot of time spot-checking content, re-uploading blog posts' thumbnail images manually, etc. (And, reader, they have a lot of blog posts.) And it feels like there should be a better way??? OR is there a more sane Ā© that I haven't learned about yet? tl;dr do I need to use clunky import/export workarounds to create a clone site in order to develop a redesign for a client without breaking their live site, or is there a better way? I tried to convince them to move to WP, but it didn't work, so now I'm here. Any guidance appreciated!
  14. Site URL: https://www.weacceptcryptocurrency.com/ I've been speaking with users of my site recently to see how I can improve it, and nearly all of them say that they didn't even recognize the mobile menu icon as a menu. SquareSpace uses a hamburger icon with two lines rather than three, and people don't seem to recognize this as a menu. Would it be possible to replace the mobile hamburger menu with just the word "Menu"? I believe this would reduce bounce rate on my site significantly and improve user experience.
  15. I am wanting to use something very similar to the tooltips/definitions that show up on nearly every page of the SquareSpace Support site. As an example: This is from the Getting Started page These seem to be using the dfn html tag, and appear consistently throughout the site. Were these manually added, or is there some css or othewise wizardry that can be done to dynamically add this type of tag to every instance of a word on a given site? I'd love to have a glossary of terms with definitions/links to those terms very similar to what is happening here, but adding them manually to every instance of each word will be nightmarish. Thanks!
  16. We are building a website for a new dental client and wondering if there is a template best suited for this segment (medical, health wellness, dental). We have experience with SS templates but with so many new templates and a business a bit different than the main focus group of SS - looking for some suggestions on template selection Ideally it's the right blend of professionalism and modern design - suitable for a consumer facing group of patients and clients. Probably trend toward older and female users. We have some ideas but would love any input from this forum. (Its our first post here, hope we are doing it right:-)
  17. Site URL: https://henryoboyleillustrations.squarespace.com/ Hello, so what Iā€™m trying to do is create an opening intro video or maybe a gif. I want the video to show at the very beginning when they first enter the site. Then just fade into the home page. I only want it to show once as well, just at the beginning. Is this possible? many thanks henry
  18. Site URL: https://wieldcreative.com I need help to add a function that I can't seem to figure out with my template.
  19. Has anyone who has previously used Squarespace and was familiar with the design process tried making a new, from scratch site using 7.1? All of the Design customization is GONE! There's a super convoluted way to go in and customize in settings, but you still have way less control than before ā€” not to mention the templated font combinations are TERRIBLE. Is there any way to go back and use the old Squarespace??! Is any one else as angry about this as I am? It's like Squarespace decided they wanted to make the design process baby boomer-friendly, since... yanno, that is who is designing the vast majority of websites.
  20. Hi everyone, I'm currently helping my client work on her site using the Brine template, Squarespace version 7.0 She would like the top section of her Homepage to have a similar look as the top sections of the following reference sites below: https://www.parsleyhealth.com/about-parsley/ https://www.marieforleo.com/ https://themovementboutique.ca/ My question is: Can I upload & adjust photos/images to cover the entire width of the page using Squarespace's current features? Or do I need to extra code to do that? And if I need extra code, can anyone help me with that?
  21. Site URL: http://www.goodpeople.work Hello! I'm launching a new site for a consulting co. for a client and I noticed I can't change the template on the primary site. The site is paid for, published w/ a password w/ a personal price plan. I picked the template and style we wanted on a new trial site below (in the the account view) to see how it looked. I'd like to simply switch the primary site to the trail site OR be able to apply the new template from the trial site to the primary site ā€” but the option isn't avail. in the design menu. Screenshots attached. I have no idea what's happening! :( Screenshots: 1. primary site design menu ā€” personal pricing plan 2. my own portfolio site design menu ā€” business pricing plan (w/ option to change template)
  22. Site URL: https://daffodil-kale-2trd.squarespace.com I am trying to get a color block behind my text, I use to know a hack without code but since they've updated to 7.2 or whatever we're at now, it doesn't give the option I use to use. How do I accomplish a block of color behind my text in the easiest way? I'm not great with coding but I can handle some if necessary. Thank you
  23. Site URL: https://www.omarhasandesign.com/work/levarti-nkth7 Hello, I'm trying create a layout similar to the image attached, using a combination of image cards aligned left and right to create a tiled effect. Currently, in edit mode I have created a layout similar to the attached image but when I publish it, the section with the text doesn't appear (I assume this is because I am not selecting an image to accompany the copy?) When I preview in edit mode the desired design is visible, but in mobile view the empty image space is visible and creates a big gap. To create this tight grid effect I've used the built in style settings to adjust the image separation and the image width (green circle in image attached) However this made the padding between inline images above uneven. I used some custom css to try and adjust this and not sure is this the best way to go about this as it doesn't transfer well to mobile either. I've tried using text boxes and spacers too but it's difficult to get the tile effect even this way and the spacers also appear on mobile view. Code used below: //Margin for image blocks// .sqs-block { margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: -20px; margin-bottom: -20px; } https://www.omarhasandesign.com/work/levarti-nkth7 pass: squarespace_help Thank you!
  24. Site URL: https://www.jamnikdesign.com/ My sections have a ton of top and bottom padding, and I cant seem to find a way to change it. I want it to be the same amount of padding thats on the left and right. I cant find anytsetting to adjust the padding on the top and bottom, Im guessing I'll have to use custom CSS. Thank!
  25. Does anyone know how to apply different blog styles to different pages on the same site? Squarespace says they prevent this to create a consistent look across the site. Im using the Farro (Haute) template and one of my pages has text header backgrounds. The other has images. The text background pages look best with the 'packed' blog list style. The Image backgrounds look best with 'feature'. Is there a way to have them apply separately to both?
