Hey guys! Does anyone have a work around for making the background of the banners images opaque with black background, I have tried: background: black; opacity:50%; but these don't see to work, any help would be amaze! (this code is supplied via Will Myers in a free tutorial, the code is added on the page and it pulls the colour styling from the page, but I dont really want to have an entirely black page, just so my banner looks ok)

I was trying keep the colour scheme fairly neutral with whites/greys/blacks. I think a lot of the images where icons have been used, for things such as the product pages where I have the packages listed could do with a change so open to suggestions on all of those too! Hi, using Squarespace 7.1 I have set my slideshow to: Slideshow Full (Full Bleed). The slideshow is set to Medium (75) for height. Medium (75) looks good on desktop but it looks too tall (too square) on mobile. Question: Is there a way to change the slideshow height so it's different for Desktop and Mobile? I want it to stay at Medium (75) on Desktop and I want it less vertical on mobile so it looks more horizontal on mobile. Currently if I change it, it affects both and on mobile.

Hi, I am starting a computer building company, and as part of my business, I want to allow customers to custom design their own computer by selecting from a list of parts with images. I'm wondering how easy is this to do in Squarespace website builder or if i'm better off using a different website builder. I would want the app to adjust an image based on what a customer selects (ex. user selects a particular case by clicking on the name, and the preview adjusts based on the selection. It'd be great to be able to have basic conditional logic for the options. Also, price calculation previews based on the selections and adjustments of all the computer parts. Is this feasible or efficient in Squarespace website builder, or should I look elsewhere? Any help would be appreciated. I am completely new to Squarespace and website building in general. I've always designed my sites by hand using HTML + CSS, but I decided to make the switch to Squarespace since I thought it would streamline my constant changes and allow me to post updates more easily. I'm concerned my SEO has taken a hit and perhaps my design (or even my template choice?) is the blame. I understand there's tradeoff between Squarespace's ease-of-use and site speed optimization, but I'm curious if: A) my site could be faster (maybe downsizing images) and B) what people's sense of the design is. Hi, I am wanted to split the navigation between the 3rd and 4th of my navigation links and moved to an attractive edge of the left and right sides of screens. There is also a shopping bag on the site. Please advise on how to do this effectively. Additionally, I am wanting to have my drop down menus appear as mega menus (full width of viewing platform) without using mega menus, but with the text content of the drop down aligned left with the navigation. Hi there, I'm wondering if I'm not going about this the correct way however I'm currently designing a website that sells antique goods. I've created all of the various products & product categories in the store feature. What I'm curious about is that when I go and try and add a subheading to a specific page IE in the 'textile' specific category it adds that section to every page of the shop; rather than just the textile one. One of the potential explanations I thought of is that Squarespace treats the store category pages as all one big page view, rather than individual pages. However, each category page has its own URL so it just doesn't really make sense to me. Is there a way to add a page-section to a shop view and not have it come up on every page? I've included an image to try and illustrate what I mean. Even though I built this page section in the 'textile' view it is still visible in the 'interior decor' section. I've looked through the various section/page options but nothing seems to be jumping out at me as a good alternative/quick fix. If it's not possible to have each product category have it's own heading, does anyone have any recommendations on a good alternative?

I currently have an active website but looking to change my “Gallery Page” so clients can click through and learn more about a specific table builds. currently the gallery page is just photos with no descriptions or ability to click on photos. I recently changed my template to Nueva. In my precious template before I tried to redesign I had the ability to have a click though page. When I click the "shop" link on my site it automatically shows every time even if they are in separate categories. Is there anyway I can get the shop link on my header to specifically open up to one category instead of my entire inventory? Thank you!

Hi. Just switch my site from 7.0 to 7.10, but not see the "Design" tab un the left menu and Instead of "Pages" tab is "Website" tab. Image attached. Does anybody why? Many thks

Hello everyone. I have an idea to link my community to events that happen in my area. I want to create a page on my site where i do not have to upload events and search for them, but have people in the community create events on my page that i can approve or deny that lets the community know about. For example, if there is a motorcycle event i want the public to be able to upload the data and add a picture, time, date and info on that event that will show in a calendar on my page. I have reached out to squarespace and got this response: "At this moment this is not a native feature that we have available however this is a great idea and I will be happy to suggest this to our development team on your behalf. While we can't guarantee implementation of every suggestion, customer feedback is an important part of how we continue to improve our platform, so we appreciate your input. What I can suggest is having a form where visitors can submit information regarding their events and you can set up an event page with these details on your site. Another suggestion I can advise once you have collected this information from your visitors is exploring our Email Campaign feature to create a newsletter with upcoming events in your community. Is there a third party website that you know of that i can link to my site that does this? I just don't want to spend time updating and inputting their events and data. I want it to be interactive and have them do it and i approve the submission. I have seen widgets that allow me to create events but i would have to spend time craeting the event and deleting it. I was wondering if it could be possible to have a menu (hamburger) button for my site navigation on desktop in 7.1? I've added css in previous versions with no problem. I would like to have the menu icon in right corner. When clicked, the menu section fill 1/3 right side of the page, with accompanying icons (see attached). Thanks in advance!

Hi there! I'm having trouble making my headings bleed off at certain screens. In wide screens I'm good with them not bleeding off, but once the screens get to a laptop screen, I would like the headings to bleed off like the screenshot attached. NOTE: Only at those sizes, NOT on mobile. I've tried this already, but I cannot control where the bleed starts. Does anyone know how I can make this work? Developed homepage password is: AMICSTLdemo

I am trying to make all text links underlined. In the template, links are only underlined over hover. I went into custom CSS and added the following code: a:link { text-decoration: underline; } It didn't work and I'm wondering if I need to add code that overrides the template hover request. Hi sqaurespace community, I need some help please putting a semi-transparent colour behind the homepage header on mobile views. I can get it to work as wanted when i use the code inspector on Google chrome but not when entering the same code to the Squarespace page. Any assistance valued, thanks! Hi All, I'm getting the hang of SqSp and I like what the company is doing in general. However, in trying to set up my store, I'm having a heck of a time getting it to look like anything I want. I can't have two products have two different background colors, for example. I can't relocate the text boxes or even align them to the gallery. Even getting the right thing to pull up has been a nuisance. I get that SqSp is encouraging cohesive branding throughout the site, but I think a little bit more segragation between pages and styles would go a long way. Am I observing correctly that the design customization options to the store are very limited, or am I missing something? Let me know!

I am trying to make an image to extend above the first section of a page and into the site header above, to look something like this website https://www.monotwo.com/ I don't want the image behind the whole of the header, just part of it, is there a way to do this?

The 'quantity' selector in my store feels oddly big and I'm wondering if there's a way to make it smaller and possibly change the shape, like round the corners slightly. I couldn't find this anywhere in the themes menu, which is where the button customization is so I thought it would be in there. Thanks for any help! Really appreciate it.

Hi, my suggestion is super simple, give footers the ability to be styled in the same way as headers, especially so we can set them to dynamic, following suit from the first section theme on a page. Cheers!

Hello, I'm trying to make my header on my site, in line with the rest of the content on my pages. I have set max margins to 1200px, which seemed to work on desktop mode, but as soon as you crop the browser window to a certain point the header content (site logo and menu links) seem to extend past the content on the page, displaying edge to edge on mobile. Code I have already added in custom css include: #header { max-width: 1200px; margin: auto; } Ideally, I would like this to work throughout the whole site, where content does not stretch out and remains at the widest point here. Where the blank white borders close in on the content when resizing a window (negative space beyond red lines indicated). Thanks
