  1. Can anyone point me in the right direction for changing the layout of products on my homepage? My now estranged web designer set the style and just used summary blocks. This is no good for the website as I have lots of product pages and will be adding more (thousands of products to add). Summary blocks only allow products from one. What I need is rows across the screen of product from various product pages.I tried just using add Product. It is really hard to get them to sit side by side in a row and it destroy the other elements on the page, some of which need to be kept - all the content gets squashed to the side. I am not a web designer so figuring things out as I go.
  2. Trying to add a message box like the one Squarespace uses in many of their doc pages. See the attached image. How can I do that? I'm searching elsewhere too, but am in a big hurry so wanted to ask here, also. Thanks!
  3. I am currently using the HYDE template and all the other recommended CSS solutions given are not compatible with my template: https://www.houseofink.studio/shop-onlineIs there another possible css code injection I could use. Additionally, I have been able to get the pixel border to work on other pages: https://www.houseofink.studio/tattoo-studio
  4. It was supposed to be easy on Squarespace... So, how do I change the background image on the main page? This is a basic thing... Or so I thought.
  5. I've found older answers to this question, but the solutions provided are outdated and the features explained aren't there anymore. https://www.maiatraj.com/ I'm using the Jasper template.
  6. I have three buttons on my homepage, all of which I'd like to link to my store page.I can go through all the steps to link to the button, but when I hit "apply" the page freezes.I just want to connect to another page on my own site, but it keeps locking up. How do I fix?
  7. I've got a very strange issue. I'm trying to create a large page with hundreds of code blocks, and for some reason, the code blocks are narrowing as the page scrolls down. Eventually, the page gets so narrow that the content becomes unreadable. I am using site-wide custom CSS as well as page-specific header injection, which I thought could be the culprit, but I tried removing both and the problem persists. Weirdly, when the site is in Edit Mode, everything displays exactly as it should. I know Squarespace advises against using more than 60 blocks in a page to avoid loading issues, but I thought I'd proceed anyway since I'm not particularly concerned about load times. That said, perhaps the number of blocks is somehow creating the issue? I'd be infinitely grateful for any insight or help, as I'm a novice web designer at best - and even that's pretty generous. ;) Thanks for reading!
  8. Looking to make this code-block full width, can anybody help? noplasticproject.com/liverpool
  9. Hi! I'm trying to change the styling of the drop down for the different sizes. Is anyone able to help with this? https://www.weareleim.com/shop/sisterhood-ezp-jumpsuit-ivory-linen
  10. I'm having trouble backdating blog posts that's supposed to go back decades ago, 1980s onwards. I'd really rather not click the little calendar arrow in the blog editor, I'm hoping there's another way to enter the date through typing instead of the calendar thing.
  11. For some reason, I cannot add any elements to my home page. i am using the Aviator template. Is adding elements prohibited for some reason?
  12. I have a blog with theme Five and split sidebars, and it looks fine on desktop browsers: msollami.com/ideas However, on mobile the content is not always centered: On my iPad in portrait mode it is wrong: Update: After trying the code in the solution, it now looks totally wrong in portrait mode:
  13. Hi guys, I'm trying to get the mobile view of a summary block to appear differently to the desktop view, for a blog site I'm working on. In short, I want to display the summary block as a standard 'List' view on desktop, and as a standard 'Grid' view on mobile. If I go with 'List', it's perfect for desktop, but on mobile, the thumbnail is very small. If I go with 'Grid', it's perfect on mobile, but the image is very large on desktop. Is there some element of CSS you know of that will force the view depending on the device? - mobile is grid, desktop is list on attachments Thanks in advance!
  14. I'm trying to set the background color for an index page to be #AA1E2E but it keeps reverting to #a81f2f I've tried converting it to different formats such as HSL, but it keeps switching back after I enter it in the color picker and close it out. Can I not do this color? Currently I'm hardcoding it with CSS, but it is an annoying issue.
  15. I wrote code to turn the "contact" link of my website into a colored button, and it works during the editing process, but the moment I save, it removes all of the changes that I've made. Here is the code that I've used, .Header-nav.Header-nav--secondary a.Header-nav-item:last-of-type { background-color: #900020; padding: 10px 20px; border-radius: 3px; border-bottom: 1px solid #900020; color: white; } .Header-nav.Header-nav--secondary a.Header-nav-item:last-of-type:hover { background-color: #900020; } It's supposed to look like the photo I"ve enclosed, but it ends up only being white. Can someone figure out what's going on? I'm on the brine-template If you want to visit the website, its robertchinnfoundation.squarespace.org and the password is open

  18. I keep trying to change the font on my text and every time I leave the design tab, the font reverts back to the original font for the Ishimoto template. When I go back into the Site Styles editing tab it shows that the fonts are what I want them to be even though they are still showing as the original fonts to the template. What can I do??
  19. can I get help. Can can I add a drop down menu from the titles in the header section for the rover template. If yes, how can I do this?
  20. Hi Everyone, I was wondering if it was somehow possible to use custom CSS to change the "Gallery Page Design" from "slideshow" to "grid" when it's being viewed on a mobile device? My issue specifically is that I really like the slideshow design when on a PC but, when a slideshow is viewed on a mobile device, it is small and somewhat awkward looking. An example of this may be viewed with this link:https://deardavid.photos/2018-italy-photography/2018-cinque-terre-italy-rocky-beach Anyway help or information on this would be greatly appreciated and thank you very much! Hope everyone has a great rest of your day! --Chris
  21. One of the things that disappoints us about Squarespace is the inability to do 3 equal column layouts with images if you need space on the sides. Sometimes you don't want giant images and saving images with a ton of whitespace canvas is just kinda silly and looks bad on mobile. Seems every other web platform has kept up with the demands of responsive layouts. Maybe others are using this hack (or a better one), but posting this in case anyone else is struggling. So to center three images... Create a BLANK page section with MANAGE SECTIONS. Remember the name of this section for CSS in Step 4. Add your three equal size height and width images (like client / customer logos with same pixel dimensions.) Go to Custom CSS and add this code... #yoursectionname {margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; display: block; width: 75%;}Adjust the width to wider or more narrow. Works like a charm for us. Hope this helps.
  22. Hello, I was wondering if there was a way to add a Read More button to a section of a website. Every time I look this question up it's always to add a Read More button for a blog. I'm not talking about a blog, it's a website for a restaurant and they have a really long "About" Section and it's making the page very long so I wanted to add a Read More button. If anyone has any idea how to do this, please let me know. Thank you!
  23. The website is based on the Rally template. I want the entire header section - main menu, logo, social icons, etc. - to be on top of any page's topmost banner. I. e. not to be above the banner (like a white stripe that has the main menu and logo) but layered over the banner itself, without any additional background. I've done this before (here https://part-time.bg/) with another website that has the same template but can't find a way to do it now. I'm sure there's some hidden option... I don't mean code - I can't code - I mean a simple, existing option that I can't effing find now.
  24. Hi All, Im using horizon template on my site - it is a single page scrolling site and I would like to set each page height to match the viewport-height so that when a user starts scrolling it immediately goes to the next page and so that you cannot see the page below if you click a nav link - the problem is that, in the current version of the template, if you do not have either content or spacers that are larger than your current viewport then the next page down bleeds into he bottom of the page. In order to work around this you have to use spacers and decide where you draw the line - the higher viewport resolution you target the more spacers you need which means when the site is viewed on mobile you have large empty paces below the content in each section because the spacers do not disappear on mobile. If I was hand coding the site I would set the main div for each page to match the viewport height unless the content exceeds it. like so http://stanhub.com/how-to-make-div-element-100-height-of-browser-window-using-css-only/ Problem is I dont know the ID's to target in squarespace ... anyone tried this before? Thanks in advance.
  25. I'm a freelance designer/developer who's still learning some of the ropes. I'm fairly experienced with Wordpress (but still have lots to learn there too!) but am currently working with a client to redesign their Squarespace site. I've learned that unlike with Wordpress or Drupal, there's no support to create a staging site in Squarespace to make major changes without changing (and potentially breaking) the live site. From browsing this forum, I know I'm not the only one who finds that frustrating. Anyway: my client has an existing Squarespace site, and they want a thoroughly redesigned site, also in Squarespace. They'll need a new template, of course, but also some new content (I'm working with them to create some new landing pages), and a completely reorganized navigation structure. Given that, and given Squarespace's limitations for developers, my question is: does it make more sense / is it more of a best practice to: (a) develop the new template design using a different trial site and/or the local development server (which I've played with a little bit), duplicating or creating new individual pages, and then, when it's time to go live, putting a cover page up and doing everything else on the live site while it's down? (like what's described here: https://answers.squarespace.com/questions/67379/how-can-i-redesign-a-clients-site-without-going-live.html) I'm concerned this would put my client's live site down for a while, so I can test everything * with their content * and get their feedback. And it just... feels scary, and kind of insane, compared to how I'd do it in WP, you know? OR, (b) clone all their content, e.g. using the imperfect-but-doable export to WP > export back from WP to SS workaround, developing the redesign on the clone site, and then, when it's time to go live, switching the client's domain to point to the live site? This mostly seems like the safer option, and this is where I'm leaning, but I'm worried I'll end up spending a lot of time spot-checking content, re-uploading blog posts' thumbnail images manually, etc. (And, reader, they have a lot of blog posts.) And it feels like there should be a better way??? OR is there a more sane © that I haven't learned about yet? tl;dr do I need to use clunky import/export workarounds to create a clone site in order to develop a redesign for a client without breaking their live site, or is there a better way? I tried to convince them to move to WP, but it didn't work, so now I'm here. Any guidance appreciated!
