  1. Hi, I have a website with the Wexley template, and I'd like one of two things to happen when a user clicks on an image in a gallery on the page: 1) The click leads to another URL (clickthrough URLs are enabled) 2) The lightbox opens, but a caption appears under the image. Is either of these options possible? My site is www.dana-simmons.com Thanks!
  2. Could anyone tell me why there is such a large gap of space between the caption & image? I did use custom CSS code from a fellow Facebooker, but he doesn't think the codes are the problem? I have the Skye template. It's just in my latest post since I've added code: https://www.stefastrolls.com/home/day-trip-to-zaandam-zaanse-schans-netherlands These are all the codes I currently have in SS: .footer-nav .main-navigation::after { white-space: pre-line; content: "\00000A © 2019 all rights reserved";} img:not([alt="Stefa Strolls"]) { border: 12px solid #fff; } Thank you in advance!
  3. Working on a site and the client wants the captions in the gallery block I set up to have an opaque background, or just appear entirely underneath the photo. Anyone know how to create a solid background behind captions in a gallery block with css? Preferably that spans the entire image horizontally? I've got the caption position set to "bottom left" right now, which creates a transparent background, but it wraps the text and keeps everything on the left side. If I select "left" as the caption position, there's no background at all. So, I need css to either: a) Make the background that appears in the "bottom left" caption position setting transparent AND make it span the full width of the image or b) Create a background for the "left" caption position setting OR c) Somehow detach the caption to appear underneath the image Any ideas?
  4. Posting again because my original post is missing. I'm doing my first 7.1 site for an artist client who has a large portfolio of work. Since captions are not yet supported in the gallery or portfolio layouts, has anyone figured out a workaround? Or any way to mimic thumbnail image navigation? It's a requirement to caption the artist's images with the gallery, otherwise I may as well go back to a Brine layout. Thanks.
  5. I already found a solution to show the description of an image on a gallery page with the following code: .slide-meta { position: absolute; display: block !important; color: black; font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.3; } The problem now is that other images hide the caption of the image above. How can the space under an images made larger so the fully caption is visable?
  6. Hi all, I'm using the Jasper template and simply want the title of an image to show as text on the image, when you hover over the image. I've spent hours trying to find help on this topic but with no joy. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
  7. Hi all, I was wondering if there's a way I can display an image caption on a separate block?
  8. The following issues were found on your site: Text too small to read I'm certain it is referring to the default caption font located under the image within the image blocks. How can I make them larger on the mobile version of the site? I am using the Margot template.
  9. Hi there - Im trying to figure out how to put captions on large images in a slideshow, it doesnt have to be a 'slideshow' per se, i just would like to click through a series of captioned images, rather than have the user scroll down the page to look at them. All the support literature appears to reference a template system that no longer exists? I tried to figure out what template i was on using the guide, and i eschewed that the 7.1 update has made templates redundant. Unfortunately all the literature then is out of date? Surely I am missing something very simple, this seems like it would be an extremely basic feature to implement? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
  10. Hello, I am trying to get my website to have nice images that are links to other projects. I want the look of the caption as an overlay. Both the image and text need to be clickable links. I am struggling getting the text to not be clipped, cropped, or otherwise different between screen sizes. For instance it looks great on a desktop and looks terrible on a tablet. Please see screen shot of an example of what is happening. Any ideas on how to do this so the text scales properly across all screen sizes?
  11. I need blog image titles and descriptions to display on mobile devices in the same way they do on desktop. By default, they don't display on devices 480px or less in width. Squarespace support has said this is possible with custom code but they can't provide that code for whatever reason. I've also been unsuccessful finding the code by googling. Anyone here have the abilities to create that code? I'd be incredibly grateful. The site, if you want to check it out, is www.downtownnorcal.com
  12. Hi there, I would like to know how to 'control' the caption below my image gallery. I've seen some topics about it (mostly about showing the caption on mobile) and tried the codes provided, but nothing worked so far. This is how the gallery looks like on a desktop: And this is how the caption shows on a mobile: Halfway through a word, the caption just stops. I would love to know how to fix this, how to show the whole caption on a mobile phone. I'm using Brine. Thanks so much for your help, Robien
  13. Hi, I am trying to move the caption below the image rather than on top of the image in wexely slideshow. Does anyone have a solution??? Thank you!
  14. Hello, I'm trying to find a way to add a caption to the videos on my Wexley template. Every CSS solution I've found overlaps the bottom of the video. Any help would be very much appreciated!
  15. I would like to know which templates show captions in galleries on mobile- I’m using sonny (Brine) and there’s no caption in landscape or portrait mode. Is there some code or a work around? Or perhaps a different way of doing things. My client is a jeweller who wants to display her collection with captions and just can’t have anything else... other than drawing up a page with photos and text I’m struggling to work out how to do this....
  16. Hi all, I want to make my caption under my images in my blogs move up a little closer to the image.See the screenshot, how do I do this? It doesn't seem to be adjustable with built in options, so I am guessing there's some custom CSS code for it. But which? Thank you
  17. Hello,I'm using Flatiron for my porfolio, and the first issue I ran into was that I wasn't able to add captions to the photos in galleries. The workaround was to create a page and add a gallery to it. Now the tricky part is that I don't want these pages with a gallery to live in the "index" because they're meant to be more sub-pages. When I move the pages out of the index, the title and description goes away, so I'm trying to figure out a way to add that back.
  18. Hello! I am trying to move the image captions on a Project Page Template on the top of the page as opposed to below it. Is there a custom CSS that anyone has that would work for this? I saw a thread for the same question on the Bedford template but it seems like that issue was not resolved. I'm trying to get this sit up in the next few days so if anyone could help me in this regard that would be awesome. Many thanks!
  19. I have a gallery grid with images (of artwork). I have it set to pop-up with enlarged images in a lightbox, and display the captions on hover. This is fine on desktop, but on mobile devices the captions do not display unless you tap a tiny dot in the lower right hand corner. Absolutely no one sees this, so mobile visitors to my site always think there is no caption information given. A fine solution would be to simply have the captions below the enlarged lightbox images, and always show up (no hover). This seems like a really, really basic format, but it seems that this is simply not an option on Squarespace, which is baffling to me. Are there any workarounds for this? Having a simple grid of images where you click an image and get a bigger image with a caption below it really seems like something that should be possible.
  20. When using lightbox, i have a small dot in the bottom to show captions (within the image). however, it is too small and nobody can find it. is there a special css code to always show the caption when opened in lightbox?
  21. You can add this code to the Custom CSS panel on your site to hide the image caption when the image is shown on la lightbox, but keeping it on the image block: .sqs-lightbox-meta { display:none;} Hope it helps
  22. Hi, I am looking to create an effect similar to on the following website: http://www.scoutstud.io/ My website uses the Hayden template and I am trying to create the effect on the following page: www.chriswhiteside.com/home Can anyone help with the CSS required? (I am new to this) Thanks in advance!
  23. I’m using the Wells template. How can I have titles and a caption for gallery images appear in the lefthand sidebar? I would also like it to use a small font so this is not distracting and fits to the sidebar. But I don’t seem to be able to independently set text for the blog page. Is there any way to do this with CSS?
  24. Hi all, does anyone know how to get image descriptions to display underneath images in a grid gallery block? I found CSS that allows you to display image titles underneath each image but descriptions have much more flexibility than titles in how you can edit them and I need that flexibility. Here is the CSS and a short video on how to use it for anyone wondering and what it looks like. It works well but it is made to display titles. A simple modification might make it reference descriptions in the gallery block instead of the titles but I am unsure how to specifically do it. Or maybe something different all together. #block-yui_3_17_2_37_1419048882075_5861 .sqs-gallery-block-grid .slide .margin-wrapper .image-slide-title { display: block; }" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LownrrdrBS4
  25. I can't find the answer! I've already tried image block caption CSS workarounds. I can't find one specifically for video blocks. RIght now, the caption that shows up (beneath the video) is so tiny that it's very difficult to read. This font category doesn't seem to be listed in the DIY Edits panel either. Please help! Naomi
