monocle.jasmin got a reaction from Shanhou in Would love feedback on new site for psychologist
When arriving on the site I am greeted by so.many.words.
Maybe break it up--I don't want to read all that at my first impression--woo me a little and make me want to know more then I'll do the work.
Make the buttons contracting colors. The teal green color is pretty much all that stands out and it's all over. choose a color to pop, the soft pink hardly counts, I'd go more with an orange or soothing yellow/gold.

    These are my initial thoughts
The dark/burnt orange is great but the semi-dark mustard colour isn't working with the orange. The photos are all over the place and it's hard to stay focused on an area The text alignment are not consistent Example: "PLAYFUL PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY WITH A PURPOSE." is right justified, where as "PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY TO INVEST IN YOUR BRAND WORTH." is left justified. Either have one or the other or middle The heading and body text are not consistent Example: you have "FOR BRANDS TARGETING" in orange which suggests its important or heading on top of a body text, while "Custom tailored imagery to visually" is the same but it's under body text. Either have both orange at the top over a body text. "WHAT WE SOLVE" blue is too dark for the dark orange. I can already tell it fails the constrast checker test. https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/ Your blue is #0B4466 and orange is#C64901, this failed all tests. You need to have a lighter blue Same with the mustard background: f4b61a and orange text. It failed I think you're showing way too much on the landing page, too many products, too much information to scroll through. Point of a landing page is to get people interested in a quick snapshot then links to lead to your other works. Don't have all your works displayed on one page, it's quite bombarding The "WORK BY INDUSTRY:" section, images are not the same size, this makes the text not aligned and makes the viewer look all over the place Footer is way too big. Your logo does not need to be that large. Make it small.
Over all you have great photos, alot to show and it does showcase the skill in these photos. If I was looking for a photographer and found this on google, I would prob look else where cause there is just way too much going on. Straight to the point is the best approach. Remember, stats show that people will look at your landing page for a few seconds and determine if they should continue reading.

@monocle.jasmin Good job with your website!😊 To be honest I dont have many improvements so I’ll just mention what I like.
I’m usually not a big fan of using many colors on a website, but I think you did a good job with it. The colors look good together. The ratio between the amount of text and images are nice. Great images! Good luck!

@monocle.jasmin - thanks for your advice and opinion. Totally understand where you are coming from and have updated my site based on this. Who / what would you advise as a good 'above the fold' example to be? and where did you discover the orphan words so I can correct them please? Was it throughout or with products, etc?
Also, I just had a look @ your website (based on your post). I viewed it via my computer and you might find the advice I was given earlier,"on my large monitor the images gets too big because of the full width", useful - up to you. I imagine it looks great on a mobile but could be too much on laptop/computer uses.

Put a delay on the pop-up--I don't know if I want the discount yet because I don't even know if I connect with your brand yet.
    Create a favicon.
The double announcement bar seems heavy handed.
Logo title too big, nav options too small. Also, a custom logo would be nice.
Psychology says use positive language: "don't forget..."--make it "remember, shipping is free"
Look up what an orphan is for paragraph design--avoid having orphan words in your design.
Your above the fold impression is very wordy--no pictures or initial feelings, nothing to make you stand out or make me want to scroll.
I would do away with the "Explore" words floating over your sections
add privacy policy in footer and shipping info or FAQ as resources
    "Your bestsellers"--I'd just say "Bestsellers"

Thanks, thanks and thanks some more!!!! That's the kind of feedback I was after 😃. Thinking about it, you are right on the tone. Its something I didn't attribute a strategy to and might well be the element I'm really making a mess of currently. It has got to be less assertive and more " here is a helping hand". I know my demographic and thinking about what they would be feeling and requiring from my site, I've got it all wrong!
I will work on this with absolute priority.
Unfortunately, I can't do anything about the cookie boxes, I have to cover GDPR here in the UK and Squarespace isn't offering control on third party cookies 😞. I understand your feedback on this and if I can find a better solution in time, Ill apply it as soon as I can.

ironically to the service she provides, I feel like the overall feeling of the site is cluttered. The pictures kind of turn me in that direction and the logo as well. the title fonts and drop shadow on the fonts make it hard to read and the flow isn't quite there for me. I hope this helps.

I can see that the image search option seems to have changed a bit since yesterday, looks new and I was super excited to see if you can simply delete images but it still appears to not have that feature, seems super odd to have provided that area a design refresh and leave out a widely requested item such as deleting image?......I feel like when you click on the 3 dots to the right, instead of image info, it would be great to be able to rename, duplicate and/or delete an image.

Couldn't agree more, it's ludicrous that in 2021 you can't manage or download your files. Total joke!

Nice website @monocle.jasmin! I don't have any specific improvement to be honest so I will just tell you what I like 😉
Full-width looks great on your website. Nice mix between text and images in the beginning of the website. I like how everything animates and fades in.

As a photographer, I like it very much. It isn't static, your use of animation makes it attractive. Some of the text blocks may be a bit large, makes me feel a bit like I am being yelled at. Reducing the size will make them a bit friendlier, and will reduce the amount of scroll needed to view the site as well. You could consider using a simple back to top button as well.
The site is quite good in my opinion.

I very much like the look of your site. The only obvious caveat I see is content hierarchy. It took me a while to understand you're selling photography service. I thought you were an e-commerce store.
So, to fix this I'd suggest having your headline using the nail polish spot. Same block size with air around the headline! Then reorder/resize pix accordingly.
My 2 cents like we say.

Overall the site looks great, to me anyway. A few comments:
    1. Consider placing your contact details more prominently. After all, you want people to call you, and Google to know your phone number!
    2. I like your strapline - "PLAYFUL PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY WITH A PURPOSE." However I have to scroll to see it (on desktop), and the first image isn't completely clear that you are a product photography business. Consider the order of your images and placement of the strapline so that it's clear what you do within 3-5 seconds, and no effort from the user.
    3. The scrolling home page is a bit exhausting to work through with lots of different content, and lots of images at various sizes (which feels messy). Consider providing links higher up the page so that people can dig in to the areas they want to find out about, with separate pages for process, locations, services etc.
    4. It looks like you're missing a photo for Ryan in your team https://labelvisuals.com/team (or you are identical twins!?)
    5. The idea of having a blog on the site is a good one, however I'm not convinced your first article is 'on strategy'. If you want clients to come to you to have their photography done, you don't want them to be buying their own kit to do it themselves. Think carefully about the advice you give to clients, or where clients go wrong with their briefs to you, and make those topics the core of your blog.
    6. On your 'work' pages, don't just show the photography. Also tell the story of the problem you were solving for the brand, how you approached the challenge and how the photography meets the brief. Don't assume the photography works on its own.
    Hope that's useful 🙂
